Morocco 2016

We did go to the souk but it was not for me. Graham did like it. Underground jail was something else. We are now on the edge of the sahara. It is nice here to but Very quiet. We have not seen many other motorhomes. Carol you are welcome to burst in to our vananytime. Elspeth and Ian @Lifesabreeze have been great tour guides. Dont think we would see as mych without them.

Attention all who are joining our minigroup crossing on Jan 14th - I've sent you all (except CherryPirate) a PM, need some info.

Ta, Terry

Talking to someone yesterday and remarking that the French are missing! Everyone expecting a deluge in Spain and Portugal from all those French that would not now not go to Morocco. But they do not seem to be here. So where are they all? I suspect they're still going to Morocco regardless.

There are plenty kicking about down this way.Definitely more than last year & when you consider you rarely see one French mh in winter its is plenty. Even came across one overnighting towards town centre on waste ground that is used during the day as a car park.
He would have had a shock when he woke up as there was no way he was going to get out with all the cars that had parked up.+ he'd obviously missed all the " no over 6m" signs.:xgrin:

@RayandMary - Check your PMs (i.e. Conversations) please. Need some info.

Well, minigroup is now booked to cross to Tangers-Med on Thursday 14 January, meeting 3 days beforehand at Parc Tropicale just outside Estepona. All participants have been sent a PM.

If there is anyone else who wishes to join us, please let me know - shouldn't be a problem adding to the list. Be happy to forward details.

(Edit - Estepona isn't compulsory - Algeciras on day before is fine)

Still holed up at Mikki's on the Algarve leaving on the 3rd, will be leaving Algerciras on the 8th good luck and safe travels to all leaving in the new year. Will meet up with most of you at the suspect places again soon and have a drink or three to absent friends
Happy new year to all funsters wherever you are and have a fantastic time in 2016.

Now supping a cold beer in Marlofa after crossing Spanish boarder this morning. Will be at our destination tomorrow afternoon.
Crossed over from Dover to Calais abd stayed the night at City Europe. Lots of police along motorway near the Jungle (Which is bigger than the last time we saw it!). Did not see any migrants but did arrive at Port at midnight. City Europe had several motorhomes on it and all the overhead lights were on in the parking area where the motorhomes were.Drove through France in glorious weather, bright and sunny. Only problem I had was with my reversing camera, it died on me. Will get a new one fitted when I return to the UK.
Marlo fa has changed, no free Leche anymore but still free to overnight and planty of space with free WiFi in bar. Showers 3 € if you don't want to use your motorhome. Free water and place to empty black and grey water.
Looking forward to meeting up with some fellow funsters Ina few days.....hopefully.

Look out for Bob & Ellie in their French registered Hymer with their big dog Henry. Had an email from them earlier today saying they were at Sidi Kaouki on Christmas Eve. They said 'Well everything here is just great, the people couldn't be much friendlier if they tried'.

Enjoy - only sorry we couldn't make it this year. Happy New Year to all you guys for later tonight. We are on a rain drenched field in South Derbyshire, but the crack, hall, food and entertainment are brill.

Hello

We are currently at Zagora and are happy to report that the road to Foum Zguid is now paved all the way and open to all traffic.

Please check your documents carefully when they are handed back to you at the port. We have just noticed that our Temporary Vehicle Import Forms have an expiry date of 13th February written on them by the customs officers. We are used to getting six months for our motorhome and as we only entered Morocco on 15th December we have only been given about 2 months. We will speak to the customs in Agadir before then and hope we can get it sorted. The penalty for your vehicle overstaying is allegedly £1000. We thought it was just ourselves and @GrahamandJane but we have now met another couple who entered into Tangier City Port and who also have 13th February as an exit date.

Happy Travels

Keep us posted on how you get on in Agadir, hope you get it sorted. Will check our documents diligently (y)

I believe you can have your visa extended by staying on certain campsites for say a week, whilst the camp site owners apply for an extension on your behalf using their address as yours (so to speak) for the correspondence. One such site was one of those in Tafroute, but Im sure many of the bigger sites such as Atlantic Park near Tagazhoute would also offer such a facility.

Thanks, I know you can do that for the people but this is for the motorhome itself. Will head towards Agadir and the customs folk over the next couple of weeks and then double back to Tafraoute once we are sorted.

We cross over to Santander on Tuesday/Wednesday then making our way down to Estepona, won't make Benidorm but might see you somewhere lower down

Does anyone know roughly what price for a green card for insurance is at the border or can give me a linky? I have heard it's expensive, there's a couple here that are interested in visiting Morocco but do not have a green card
Thanks in advance

Ah what a shame :roflmto::roflmto::roflmto: - we won't be getting there until the Monday!

We're not trying to avoid you @PhilandMena :winky::*:blusher:

:pinocchio:

But on a serious note, mention you're a Funster and you might get the rate we've negotiated.

Any advise on the best roads to take through France into Spain

Yes. Have a look at this.

http://about-france.com/tourism/no-tolls-routes.htm

This route, is almost Toll free and mostly Motorway/Duel Carriageway. If you want more detail and suggested stop overs let me know and I'll give you the info you need.

Just had my ferry cancelled as well. Never driven down to Spain before. Are there any roads do avoid in a 7m motorhome? Would preference not to pay tolls but need to know if I should go on some of them ?any recommendations which tolls to use and avoid?
