Morocco 2015

Were at Camping International (Moulay Bousselham) pretty little little town overlooking a salt water lagoon..loads of vans arrived here last night, most of them already gone this morning...we spent two days visiting Casablanca, we used their Tram system across the city several times found the people to be very considerate and accommodating especially when one consider's to our surprise that most 'Casa's ' (even in the Tourist area's) speak very little English or none at all, you have to watch the Taxi drivers though as like most large cities they want to rip you off, the city's is a completely different way of life to Southern Morocco you do come away feeling a little confused. :):)

Have had an email from Bob & Ellie who were over here last year. They had resigned themselves to wintering in Spain this year, but its so bloody cold that they have decided they are catching the ferry to Maroc on Saturday. Have fore-warned them of the lack of drink at Marjane and tipped them off re Maps.me, as they haven't got their Maroc map with them. Hoping to bump into them at some stage.

We are debating whether to head further south to Tan Tan, El Ouatia, Tarfaya and Laayoune, the capital of Western Sahara or whether to head inland via Guelmim. Decisions decisions.

Has anybody seen the weather forecast for Tafraoute for the next 3 days? Tonight snow flurries. Tomorrow zero deg overnight with further flurries. Think we will fly south.

What about your wine and beer Ken, do you still want it? No problem if not as I am sure we can managed to work our way through it. I have been defending it from Dabhand for the last few days!

Philip says warmer by the weekend again. Blurry cold last night and first thing though.

Goat feeding time. They have small delicate mouths and take the bread gently from your hand. Two days ago I had three of them with their feet on my chest waiting for bread.

Definitely cooler today, but ok in the sun when the wind drop's. I suspect the weather report is correct, well at least for today. Never mind, still a lot better than Spain England.

Weather.com reckons:
Thursday mostly cloudy, 15C
Friday partly cloudy, 15
Saturday mostly sunny 15
After that it's back to normal, sunny and 21-22 (that's in the shade Suggy!)
Let us know if you're coming this way as we might organise a Funster evening in the Bedouin tent in town before Philip and others leave (Monday I think)

Weather.com also reckons Tan Tan will be cloudy for the next 5 days although it might be a couple of degrees warmer.

Guess who we've just spent a pleasant beer o clock with?

Marc & Sam + Max - aka the elusive 'Horsham Jack'

Nice to meet you guys.(y)

And likewise  Nice to meet up with fellow funster's and have a beer or three(y)

(y)(y)Tafraoute to Taliouine 1 stop for 20 minutes, 202km, (126 miles) 6 hours Don't worry though the first 100 are the slowest:LOL: left at 10am good time to travel as very little oncoming traffic, they were all at the market. As you turn onto the R106 off the R104 road very potholey for 15 clicks or so, get your driving hats on, lots of washed out bits of road, all passable at very slow speed as you drive over river bed, one stretch through the valley had about 10 washed out bits of road, two were steepish grounded towbar once, do not let this put you off its all passable and a magnificent route, Sue did it no probs so there! All the washed out bits of road and two guys with shovels during the whole journey filling potholes!:LOL: Now having a well deserved beer at camping Toubkal Taliouine

Aha know what you mean Ken, been trying to meet up with these buggers but not sure now if they really exist lol

We are incognito Dave;)
We're actually letting you break the trail for us lol, we are planning to head down to Laayoune then back up and into Tafroute prob end of Feb.
Will no doubt catch up at some time and have that elusive beer with you(y)
P.s We will be driving back through Portugal "slowly" enroute home in April

Still blowing a Hoolie here(n)

Correct! We plan to leave Monday morning and it would be great to have a bash on Sunday and meet up with Graham, ken and wife's again.

Glad to hear you have made it ok and enjoying some beers. We will miss both of you guy's and I in particular bonded with Simon and just love his sense of humour and timing. Mena ask's me to pass on her warmest and was in the shower when you left so missed her hug and kisses. Will make up for that next time we meet. Have a great journey and keep safe.

Oops - whilst battening down the hatches pulled pegs holding washing line. Now what are the odds of finding a water pipe 3" down?
Funny you should mention that, we were discussing that the other day and think the answer is yes. We note the expiry date on recharge cards are 2021 so assume we can purchase a couple on the way out and use to recharge our data sim card next time we enter Moroc. Saves a trip to Ashilla.
Not sure you can do it from Spain though.
When we arrived at Asilah we found the card we used last year still worked. Just went to a Teleboutique (there's one across the road from Maroc Telecom) and recharged it no problem.

At Camping le Palmeraie in, or rather near, Ouarzazote and it's cold and wet. Somewhat rough trip on direct road from Foum Zguid, follows river for much of the first part and the devastation shows. Passable with care but would guess the long way round via Zagora would have been better. It's fine after Tazenakt where you join the N10. But we were driving through snow showers most of the way.
Not impressed by this site, scruffy and difficult to find even with satnav. Moving on north tomorrow, prob Marrakech.

Shall be passing you tomorrow then probably will be turning left off the N10 at Tazenakht to Ait-Benhaddou, did you not go?

Plans still fluid (like the weather here). Will depend on weather and wether we feel like it. (I've lost me smilies!!!):):):)(Ahh, they're back)

Hi , if you got Ait Ben , look at the rare rock formations on your right as you go up the road , geologists come from all over the world to look at them ,
also When you look at A B before you cross the river there is a wall with an arch with like two horizontal bits left and right missing , that was from the james bond film where he goes through the arch in a light aircraft ,
Ben Herr and Gladiators were filmed here also ,

We hope you Enjoy the rest of your time in morocco , we have enjoyed your company and have , had some great music sessions , see you back in blighty ...

Had a nice stroll over the hills to the nearest village today and then down to the Erkounte Fish Cooperative harbour. Then ate fresh fish and chips for dinner. Cost for dinner for four with soft drinks and coffees was a tad over £22.
