Two of the three campsites were obliterated in the November floods. The other isn't much to write home about. Sidi Ifni is a love or hate it place. We weren't too impressed but maybe if the weather had been better.
What state is sidi ifni in, is it worth a visit?
And if he had to explain you wouldnt understand cos your not in the know. dont you know but now you know.
Your in the know . You know ....
So now you all know, well put Ken and thanks to Suggy and Rosie for organising such a lovely cultural experience. What Simon is referring to above is actually a village spectacle of Berber Horsemanship that we were kindly invited to in the nearby village of Tilkaid. We were very kindly invited to the spectacle by Suggy and Rosie's friend Mohammed whom they met last year in of all places, the Ford dealers in Agadir. Suggy has remained in touch with Mohammed who has kept Suggy updated on the situation in Maroc after the devastating floods of last November, amongst many other things.
Anyway 12 of us piled into three grand taxis this afternoon for the twelve mile trip to Tilkaid. The taxi drivers weren't even aware of this event which has been organised by Mohammed and several other young men who represent the Association of Al Wahda, Tilkaid and Tanla villages. Their aim is to try to preserve some their heritage and customs. They have set up a temporary museum in the local hall with examples of artefacts and locally made crafts which have been donated by villagers. Pictures of the museum exhibits were posted earlier by Suggy.
This afternoons event was enacted on a large football pitch size piece of land with a large Berber Tent at one end. Horseman assembled at the other end, and then charged towards the Tent (in which were seated about 100 women and children). They raised rifles during the charge and then fired them above the Tent to the screams and chants of delight from the women and children within.
As we were the only Europeans there we were made to feel very welcome and the spectacle was quite something if not deafening at times.
Many thanks to Graham & Rosie for organising for us the privilege of attending.

when we arrived at Mohameds village we had a moped guard of honour by Mohameds Father who had been sat waiting for us to arrive , to take us to the show ground ,
Everyone made us so welcome .
.Spoke to a guy who said he'd just comr from Sidi Ifni and he confirmed only one site open. However he said a brand new site opened couple of weeks ago just north of the town, pretty busy.
_______________________________________________________Im reading about the demise of Tagazhoute with sadness. Great place to stay, always something happening. Although you could always see the diggers approach ing .
Does any of this years visitors know if everything has gone? Apart from the main bit there was the small triangle on the town side and the rough bit further along where the desert wagons used to go.
I would imagine that they will have to replace it with something to give all the traders back some business - just hope it isnt another Atlantic park.
