Morocco 2015

When we leave Tafroute, we intend (may change) to make our way further east to Zargora and then up to Mezouga. I would welcome advice on best route to take, particularly from anybody who has done this within the last couple of weeks. Thanks in advance.

We noticed what looks like a new campsite being built between Banana Village and Agadir, the pitches didn't look big enough for mobile homes but there were certainly a lot of them. Would be interesting to find out what is intended if anyone is passing.
We should be passing tomorrow, if Dora's burka ever comes.

Rasheed and the thermal screens guy have been on site today and told us there is not a van anywhere on the front now.

If you are going from Zagora to Merzouga take the long way round via Agdz, Boumalne Dades Tinehor and Erfoud.
DO NOT be tempted to take the short cut via the R108. We tried it last year and ende up Driving 45km on piste roads.
Cost me a fortune at the dentist when I got home as the road was that bad it shook all the fillings out of my teeth!

So we are coming down the road from Essaouira to Agadir and passing the Atlantica park Sue says"that looks good in the book" "No"says I" we are going to where all the funsters are that we should have come over with on the 15th".We drive through Tagahazoute and nothing............."Maybee I got the wrong place"says I."When we get the internet again I will check untill then lets go to that park place"Now we are here all is revealed 2,236 miles and we miss it all by one day.Oh Please!........................Maybe see some of you soon!--------------Martin,Sue & Caley(y)(y)(y)

Thank's for that Busman I may take a couple of days out from driving, it's all been about getting here, we left home on the 20th and apart from 4 days enforced stop in Spain for a tooth extraction, it's been a bit of a treck. Now I have "man flu" so need a break.2 days should do it then we will see.(y) -------Martin

The hoolie is still blowing here at Tifnit. We have quaffed 2 bottles of pinko and just finished watching a brill DVD entitled RV-Runaway Vacation featuring the late Robin Williams. There are many similarities in the film to episodes and events that all us motorhomers have experienced. Well worth a watch.

We're only 40 miles away from Taghazoute here at Tifnit. Its just south of Agadir.

Jesus 2 days to get over man flu I'm impressed sure it's not the lesser bird flu or Ebola
(y)
Don't be silly Dave, .... He'd need at least 3 days for Ebola, now lesser bird flu, well that's an all together different kettle of fish!

Firstly, thank you one and all for your recommendations whilst here in Tafroute and in particular to Makems for advice on route. (Once again forum members show why this is the bogs dollicks of motorhome forums). Secondly, it has stopped blowing, calm as a million and much warmer than yesterday morning, there's even a guy out in his shorts (must be a new arrival). A few more arrived yesterday but the place is about 4/5 empty by my judgement. Mena and I did a small walk around the site yesterday and it's huge. So, plenty of opportunities for walking here with a magnification backdrop. Bit of a weird place really, as the whole place is surrounded by mountains and he we are in the middle on flat ground. The town look's new compared to the other places we have visited and we will be getting to know it a lot better over the coming days. Also, for those coming with a lot of laundry, there is a laundry service in the town which does everything including sleeping bags etc, and it is based on weight so I guess will be as cheap as chips. We watched a film last night (3 day's to kill) on my Galaxy Tab S. The picture was awesome, what a tablet. The film was mediocre but watchabl.

Hi,
When you leave Tafroute, do you have to double back to Tiznit to get a route for North, South, or East ?

No. For North take the R105 towards Agadir. For East take. R106 to agdouz then the new road to Issafen then South to Tata. For South take R104 towards Tiznet then branch off on P1919 South. All roads are fine.

All calm and sunny here in Merzouga this morning.
I'll get the shovel out in a minute and dig down to find our camping carpet underneath the sand.
The sand dunes are now pristine, all footprints, camel prints and quad bike tracks have been obliterated.

Many thanks. On the Michelin map the roads you mention look a bit naff, but I'll take your advice. I hope to be down that way in March.
Enjoy your trip.

Not sure! My first time here. However, I'm fairly sure you can just continue through on the R104 and then go East or North at the first Jct in the first town. Do you have a Map. Sat/Nav. You will need at least one of them.

I see the above answer has already been supplied so forget my guess! Nice and warm here now, sitting outside in shorts and Tee-shirt soaking up the rays.

Mist burnt off quickly this morning now having a glorious day.
Guy turns up at Motorhome offering 4x4 trip @ 600 MAD for two. Looked like a great trip so told him to come back when he had two spaces left and we would fill them for 400 MAD. Guy did not like that but when I explained he would be filling empty seats and the price would remain a secret between us I could see the penny drop. He said he would let me know. I think he was ripping me off in the first place so will probably pay the going rate if he accepts. Looks like a great trip with a good lunch thrown in too.

We've been considering our next move from Tiznit, where despite clear blue sky there's a fresh cold wind rattling the skylights. Been checking the weather forecasts and it looks likely to be cool almost everywhere for the next week although Tata looks better. We don't want to be chasing around spending 4 days getting somewhere nice only to find it's still cold. We came to Morocco primarily for the warmth.
Anyone like to comment? Yeh I likely know what we'll get!

Have you been to Tata before Tel? We stayed outside the municipal swimming pool. Close to road but no doubt full of you know who. Nice little town handy for everything but after a few days you'll get itchy feet. We stayed last year at Tighmert Oasis which is east of Guelmim. Its in a palm fringed oasis and there is a tiny shop through the palms selling the basics.

when i park near tata i shop get what i need then head east . there are some nice places to stay out in the desert . there is an old airfield on the left . we park on the right by some wicker sand barriers. great walking area . there is one place by a lonely tree it gives nice shade on a hot day.
shame not on old laptop have several pics on that one . lots of nice desert stops all over that side of maroc .

Bought a small lobster this morning from our man here at Tifnit. Into the boiling water he went still wriggling and we've just eaten him for lunch with some salad and bread. Cost 10MAD which equates to around 70 pence. Shame he'd only got the one.

We arrived here at 13.00 hrs from a cold Tafraoute where the smellies were starting to mass for the next Waterloo. We found a New 5 week old campsite on the a coast road Tiznit - Sidi Ifni R104 (Camping Erkounte Park) beach side which I'm pretty sure is not on the Radar yet, yes its breezy but the wind is warmish there are large hard ground lined off pitches , 10amps, brand new shower block, restaurant plus hourly buses to Sidi' and Mirleft..Just right for us Old'uns

PS, Two smellies have just had a 'barny' over a wash basin!!!!! thank god there's only three of them here:D:D:cool:

Know exactly where your comming from Terry. Unfortunitly, not in a position to recommend here as we have not been here long enough. Yesterday was cold due to the wind though Mena still managed to get a little sunburnt on her forhead. Today is glorious and very warm, lots of campers just in shorts. However, occasionaly a very slight breeze comes through and you can feel the cold edge it has. Plenty of places here, I went to empty my cassette at camping Granite this morning and there is only 4 motorhomes parked there. The owner is desperate for more campers to turn up and I suspect over the next few days he wont be dissapointed.

As an aside, big big game of Rugby friday night and pretty certain nowhere in town will be showing it. Disappointed to say the least. Anybody like to take an educated guess at how many gigabits of data would be condumed watching the game via a tablet. I may go for it.

Which site are you planning on streaming the rugby from? If it's Sky you will need to VPN back into UK to fool Sky otherwise you will not get a licence using Sky Go.

Let us know site etc and who is playing might join you tomorrow.
