Morocco 2015

Tafrout town from parking area. Quite overcast here this morning but looks like the sun is going to burst through any minute. Not as warm as Taghazout though.

Regarding my original thoughts about the MH clearance of the Tag' dirt plains, this I suspect may well become a concern to many people who prefer to use bonafida camp sites as it appears the the 'French refugees' appear to be migrating south in their droves:cool:

All good things come to an end unfortunately! I was at Tag in 76/77 when it was in it's infancy, I suppose. Sadly the popularity of the place has been it's downfall? We had plans to stop for a while at Tag. but now that appears to be over:unsure: Regarding the French refugees they will no doubt find somewhere else to desecrate and abuse as long as the Price is right

Looks gorgeous at Tafrout and Tisnet etc. feel so sorry for the traders who will suffer so badly now that Tagazoute is closed ! What of the fish, bread, fruit/veg, tyre protector, windscreen wiper, doughnut, trinket, blanket, carpet etc etc traders ? Shops, restaurants and of course the van painters, especially Rachid who many of us gave over our trust to paint our vans and and who's work we admired ! Hopefully if new camp sites spring from the dust in the future, they will be back in business and so will we !

View attachment 53580 Another nice evening at Suggy Towers chatting how much we miss the rain hail sleet snow grey days of home :), nice place to wild camp Tifnit, N30°11.649 W9°38.251 will most prob move on in a few days, bread and fresh fish to your door and as Ken Canopus says 80p fresh tuna, lovely,

Jesus! It's cold here! Seven sodding degrees. I did plan to move here in two weeks, regretting the closure of Tag camping. Will warm up soon once cloud is burnt off.

The old chap selling rugs etc (half is nose missing) said Tafroute should be avoided for at least another 2 weeks due to the cold influence that the Atlas has up there. Mid February and the place will be awash with colour from the pink and white almond blossom.
Think we will continue to hug the coast a bit longer. We have devised a cunning plan to keep us in supplies etc but more importantly to keep our coveted cliff top pitches from the French. Already we have a supplier of fresh bread and fish and we now know a source for fresh water and elsan disposal. Tifnit is absolutely sunny and bostin this morning. Even the 4x4 day trippers from Agadir were taking pictures of the campers.

could always open the prison thats not used out on the main road south . near the garage . lots of rooms spare there. ha ha .
thats the trouble going south agadir is protected by the canary isles filtering the bad weather . below tiznet and half way to essauira starts to get windy and can be chilly.
could go to immouzer and swim in the river.
or just outside aglou plage on the south side ,campsite behind restaurant.
nice and friendly .

Agree, whilst stunning here it's a bit of a body shock after 25 degrees at Tag. Now warmed up and Mena outside enjoying the sun but I agree, still a little to cold after Tag. Two weeks sounds about right. Were not moving (unless they close this place down too) and will keep you posted on the weather. Went for a good walk round the campsite this morning. Found 4 wells 2 blocked, one in use and the other contaminated. Looks like someone may have deposited some human waste in it or certainly nearby, although some time ago by my estimate. As far as I can tell there is no dumping of human waste going on in the area at this moment in time. I have had a good look and sniff in the creek bed that runs through the campsite and it looks clean. There is another campsite towards the town itself. 40 MAD per night minimum of 2 night stay and 25 MAD for lecce. He will not allow cassettes to be emptied by campers outside of his site. Bowser has come round again this morning, as did bread man and a gas wagon has just come on site with , so looks like it's being well serviced. Went into town this morning and pleasantly surprised, lots of stuff for sale and cheaper again than Agadir. Got myself a gas bottle cover for half the price offered at Tag and Agadir so happy with that and another pair of sandles, first pair have bit the dust after less than 3 weeks. Mostly French and Dutch on here at the moment and not another Brit in sight. (their loss).

Philip there is so much to in Tafroute, have a walk to the Berber Village, you can walk a fair way up those Mountains, we cycled for miles around there the Market is good and lots of places to eat. It's the cheapest place to get any metal work done, those screens for around the gas for out side cooking are so cheap the man makes them to order in one of the squares opposite the Argan Oil place. enjoy. Look up the site Phil and then turn to face the right, and look beyond the immediate hill and across the valley to the horizon. You should see the image of a lions head on a huge rock face across the valley. The image changes as the sun moves round.

or spend a few nights out by the blue rocks .
if your lucky you might see desert foxes etc .
take the new road to tiznet ,go past napoleon hat rocks ,after a while you turn off on the right , end up overlooking the rocks . great place .
there is a track opposite the ait monsour turning .
my favoutite place when at tafroute

I like a man that knows his sh*t:D

Dazzlin are you at Essaouira, a guy who looked just like you walked through the aire where us and Roncab are parked but did not respond when shouted ??

No frenchies here in the sahrawi Arab people's republic. In fact there not a lot of anything. Not sure if they are building it or pulling it down cheap as chips though. Tax free and stunning desert scenery

Got it! Mena seen it earlier this morning. Will snap and put on here later.

Not sure what you mean by new road to Tiznet. We came from there on R 104 and according to maps me that is the only road from Tiznet to here ? Also, heard about Napolian's hat and the blue rock but have yet to see either (will find them though). Blowing hard at the moment and it's a cold wind otherwise a bright day.

Dout it suggy's in touch with him and says he's in Agadir and may well come here so stop shouting at strangers lol

Tafraoute
Just come back from the 4x4 mountain excursion, stunning views, deserted villages, large herds of black goats, windy and very cold in some of the mountain passes definitely not roads/tracks for fragile motor homes...anyway's the smellies are arriving in their droves, counted six vans coming from the direction Tiznit in the last hour, the nearest Palmeries to the town is starting to look like a 'pretty' Tag site.....a strong wind has got up and its cold:cool:

We are still a long way from Essouira. I am sorry to hear you have found someone who looks like me!
We have just parked up at Marjane Agadir after escaping from an ever increasing repair bill courtesy of Mustapha. Went straight there after being evicted from the beach yesterday!
Just seen Taghazout windscreen wiper lad wandering round the car park. I will keep my eyes open for the rest of the gang.
Heard there is a new 'cambodian' camp building up near Banana village so may scout it out when we have had a couple of days round Agadir rather than braving the icy mountains inland at Tafraoute.
A warm 22° with a brisk breeze here on the outskirts of Agadir.

Wall to wall sunshine at Tifnite 27°... in the van, blowing a howling North Westerly, 17° dirtstorm outside!

So after arriving at Tifnite yesterday we all went for a little walk to the village with no women!! Upon our return a large group of tourists were milling around, they were on one of those 4x4 Safari tour things, a large German (I think) lady came up to me and says
"Can I use your toilet please?"
"Of course you can petal, says I, I will happily allow you to fill my receptacle and merrily escort your plop to the dump whilst you sod off in your Land Rover"
NOT. Ooh, the cheek of it!

Weather forecast for here today has been spot on, on the website I looked at including the North Westerly wind gusting to 47 km/hour. Forcast for tomorrow is 19 deg with 7 km wind so I am hopefully today is a one off and we can get back into our shorts from tomorrow.

Oh no !!!!! My gas it bottle has run out so option
A get it sorted out asap
B drink the chilled white wine out of the fridge before it warms up
No brainer,
