Morocco 2015

Tafraoute
Just come back from the 4x4 mountain excursion, stunning views, deserted villages, large herds of black goats, windy and very cold in some of the mountain passes definitely not roads/tracks for fragile motor homes...anyway's the smellies are arriving in their droves, counted six vans coming from the direction Tiznit in the last hour, the nearest Palmeries to the town is starting to look like a 'pretty' Tag site.....a strong wind has got up and its cold:cool:
go to Chez Sabir before you leave. It is down an alleyway by the hospital. The road as you come into to town turn left . there is a bank with an orange sign. 100m past that. You eat in his front room and the food is to die for.

Where were these pix taken?
At the Auberge du Sud. Details as per previous posts.
Not so great today though. Nice until about 2:00pm but since then there's been a ferocious sandstorm blowing. Our Moroccan mat outside now has a covering of an inch of sand on it. Very unpleasant. Visibility down to about 400 yards.

Is that why it is next to the Hospital ?

It's a very sad day ( well actually not in the greater scheme of things) but just finished my last bottle of Hobgoblin, traditionally crafted legendary ruby beer, 5.2%, sob:groan:

We've got a dozen bottles of English Ale including Hobgoblin and even a Batemans Mocha - but thats Lyndas.

So bloody windy here we've opened a tin of tuna for tea instead of trying to cook the fresh one outside on the gas dooberry which was delivered and gutted this lunchtime. Mind you the tinned tuna is Moroccan.

Seen it all now. Theres a bloke with his daughter in a swish VW caddy squeezed round the back of our van. We're inside quaffing pinko and the bloke gets his prayer mat out and Im playing Dark Side of the Moon at full chat. Its almost dark, you'd think he'd want to get off home for his snap.

Cooked ours indoors, lovely jubbly, head and tail hanging over the edge of the pan, it was tuna shark I think!

Yea, would have liked to! after spending some time finding his place (locals looked blank when asked) place was closed but according to his business hours he should have be opened, the door bell didn't result in any response.. then found out from the Tazka owner that Mr Sabir had just recently left to go to Europe for two weeks...story of my life:(

It's been a bit fraught for the last few hours with the wind. Gwen is making our own custom fitted wind blockers and she got the front done yesterday and today has been trying to finish off one of the sides. We had to have the awning out to measure up etc and the wind just came on us very suddenly.
Fortunately it is tied down with a long strap lengthwise and two ratchet straps attached to the channel in the front rail. It would have been more dangerous I think to have undone the straps to wind it in than to let the straps try and do their job.
So far they have held their own but it makes your intestines squirm when there's a really heavy gust and the awning fabric starts flapping about.
It's still blowing hard but not quite as hard as earlier. We can now see the lights of the next Riad which is about 3/4 of a mile away whereas we couldn't see it at all an hour ago.
Still got my fingers crossed that the straps hold the awning down as it will make a fine sail - 6m x 2.75m! Of we were a yacht we'd be moving along at a fine clip in this wind!
I'm doing mince and onions tonight with mashed taty and carrots and green beans. At least it's taking my attention off the awning.

Hi,
With reference to the CIN number. I have one already but now have a new passport. Will they transfer the same number from the old passport or issue me with a new number. I will take my old passport just in case.
They issued me with a new CIN number, even though I'd been told otherwise. Take your old passport anyway in case they change their minds again!

Ditto. Gwen got a new passport and she got a new CIN even though the van hadn't changed.

I hope the panic is over. The wind has dropped to merely gale force and the awning isn't flapping quite so much. I can even see the stars now.
Just as I type this of course a huge gust rocks the van and makes the awning flap like a swans wings at take off

Guess we'll all be sweeping the sand out of the fridge vents tomorrow. .....

Heard there is a new 'cambodian' camp building up near Banana village so may scout it out when we have had a couple of days round Agadir rather than braving the icy mountains inland at Tafraoute.
A warm 22° with a brisk breeze here on the outskirts of Agadir.

We noticed what looks like a new campsite being built between Banana Village and Agadir, the pitches didn't look big enough for mobile homes but there were certainly a lot of them. Would be interesting to find out what is intended if anyone is passing.
