ATTENTION ALL FUNSTERS AT TAGHAZOUTE.
We've just been advised by one of the more reputable tradesmen that the site is being closed down tomorrow Tuesday by the local police.

The French around us are starting to dismantle their chateaux so there may be some truth in it.

We will see!

Yes! All French campers are preparing to leave. We were told that the king is coming to open the golf club and the whole beach front has to be cleared. We have not been told anything by any official and will wait to see what happens in the morning. If we have to move we are ready and if so hopefully can get back on in a couple of days. Bet it's fun in the morning watching a couple of hundred French motorhomes leaving site at the same time.

Latest rumor/update. Mohamed just been to collect his 20 Dh and said we will know tomorrow if we have to move or not! Something to do with the work that has been going on by us and if we do have to move it will be a short distance 1/2 kilometer. Remember folks you heard it here first!!!

A huge thank you to all funsters at Taghazout for your help, advise and friendship which made out first Moroccon experience real fun and we will definately be back. Two weeks now slowly heading North with Roncab taking in a few more sights. Once again many thanks sure we will catch up with you all again at some point x

Turmoil @ Taghazoute
There are police and army at the site entrance. It seems the owner has issued some sort of injunction such that all jippos, Ethiopians and Motorhomers will be evicted off this site tomorrow latest. Many French have left this evening, however there must be a few hundred vans still here. Its going to be chaos in the morning and no doubt squabbling and ranting will be prevalent. Pity somebody doesn't tell the King how much we all put into the local economy. Tafroute looks as though its going to have a sudden influx. Merde !!

Looks like this is the end of Taghazoute Beach

Guardians still came round tonight for the 20 Dhms. Wonder who the Mr Big is who takes the cash every night?

Glad to hear that Colin/Sandra, I have not seen any myself and was just quoting information that had been given to me by another Brit on the campsite. Mind you, I do like quality red wine. Penfolds and Hardy's from Kangaroo land are two of my favorite labels. Let me know how you get on with it!
I am pleased to report that the Moroccan wine is very very drinkable. Will be looking out for some more of this.

They are in Spain and Portugal. Crawling all over the place with their 'A' frames and trailers taking up all the space, what's more, dumping their grey in anything that looks like a grid. I think I had better stop there.

Yep all over the place here. Unusual as we don't usually get many French.

just spanish wine is so cheap.
the flag beer is ok as well in beige coloured cans but expensive compared to spain .
there are alcohol shops in most towns ,just takes a bit of finding them , as with buying pork its there if you look hard enough . mind very often its wild boar they have. very tasty.

Hope you guys are ok. It seems we left just in time ! Had our first little mishap just North of Tagazoute. A car straddling white line hit our wing mirror with theirs. They came back, nice enough young people, nice car, shook Rons hand but as couldn't speak language on both sides, the driver rang someone to translate. Our mirror badly damaged their mirror completely gone. Translator asked us for 2,000 dirums. Refused to pay because we had damage too and clearly was on our own side of the road, albeit very narrow taking into account how far our wing mirror takes up. However, as we couldn't be bothered waiting for the police and a poss 4 hour delay we offered 1,000 ddirums which was accepted. Sometimes it is best to stand your ground and fight for justice. Other times best to take the knock and make life easy for oneself. Let's know Whats the latest with you all tomorrow ?

We (Canopus, Busman, TheonlySue and Dabhand) sloped off just before 6am this morning and drove through Agadir on relatively quiet roads. Arrived at Tifnit at around 07:15 and parked up on a cliff top with sea views. Would imagine this place may get busier as the day progresses, but it all depends on the bailiffs and eviction heavies at Tagazhoute. Much cooler and overcast this morning.

We did the same last year Ron with a French Rapido. I slowed down and Peter & Elaine who were behind us stopped and just shrugged shoulders with the French man. His mirror disintegrated our glass crazed but was usable. Had a repair done at Tata which got us home. Bought new mirror when we got home. Basically IMO, its knock for knock - I wouldn't have paid any money personally.

Agree

Agree with you Ken, normally would have stood our ground but the language barrier was a total hindrance so I had to converse with a part english speaking translator. Phone kept going dead so he had to keep ringing him back. I told translater blame 50/50 although he didn't seem to understand and kept asking what happened. He seemed to be independent and fair minded, not, as such, a friend of the driver. The other young driver seemed respectable and had a family in back of car who all seemed confused. He was taking advice from the translator so I decided they were not on the make and by then had been at side of road for some time and we wanted to get on our way. If he had been English speaking. I would have been able to settle it, as you say, knock for Knock. In the end a small price to pay for the time we would have spent, forms, language barrier etc, had police been involved.

What is the latest update re Ethiopian refugee camp? How many funsters dug in ?

Hi funsters now in Tafroute - gorgeous. left Tiznit on the R104 all the way thru good road although last 20 kms are really a large car width - however luckily not much traffic, took 2 hours now at Camping Tazka - not bad although the whole area did not get back on the leccie until 3.00 this afternoon, weather gorgeous town lovely. Carole and Ken popped in on us at Tagazhout they had a super trip and was really nice to see them again. ttfn

Hi Larry and Pauline, just to let you know we are heading to essaouira today for a few days and then slowly up the coast

Back in 2013 everyone was moved off and as we travelled south we heard tales about it all..
When we did arrive there, locals had filled in the trench the army had dug a week earlier and all back to normal.
As Makem's said, soon be business as usual.

Midelt!!!
Beware the municipal campsite guardian at Midelt!
He is your best friend and has heard something on your van as you drove in.
We had brake pads done as they were low, but a few hundred miles later they need replacing.
Lesson learnt.

midelt is great if you want crystals . lots gypse mines around there.
they make lovely table lamps out of it .
also you could buy nice displays of fossils and crystals all mounted in glass displays .
make lovely presents for kids etc .
sharks teeth/dynasour teeth etc.
we used to bring loads back as they fetch good money in uk.
