Morocco 2015

Woke up to find a young Austrian in a tent next to our motorhome. Young man left Austria in November and has worked his way down here on foot. A hitchhiker! Now drinking tea from one of Mena's best mugs and no doubt will be well fed later. Wonder if I'like be sleeping in a tent tonight, a good possibility if he doesn't snore LOL

Currently enjoying the sun and fantastic views here at La Plage Blanche, a total of 16 MH here overnight, a mix of GB (us), NL, D and F. Including an Argentinian couple who live in Sydney and are touring Europe and Morocco in their French registered MH (n). Excellent internet (Maroc Telecom) access here we were able to watch BBC iplayer last night without any streaming problems.

Ok, time's nearly up for our stay at Camping Atlantic, well recommended site if you want to take a break from the 'Wild' side..our plan is to move south to Tiznit (N1) and then on to R104 to Tafraoute, any advice of any issues with the roads would be appreciated:cool:

R104 is fine. Allow 3 hours. We stayed camping tazka. Can recommend. Very clean showers, leccie works washing machine. Great tajines delivered to van. 10 minute walk into town. Or you can wild anywhere in the palms all around. Also recommend eating at chez sabir. Fabulous food you eat in his house. Lives the summer in Cornwall. He has invited us to stay there in August. I knew my Arabic would come handy one day

The road is fine. Give yourself time and stop and take in the beauty. Don't worry. We love tafraout. Been here a week. Tomorrow we leave. We are going to head down Coast to Western Sahara. Umming and arring whether to go to dakhla. Current plan Laayoune. Carol and ken are going to Tiznit then up the coast and algarve. I think.

Entirely up to you but we're told not much to see. If it's the desert proper you're after probably better working east then down to Zagorra. You can get 4x4 trips overnight out into Sahara.

Hi Larry/Pauline, we're fine thanks and enjoying everything. I'm tending to let Lawrence of Arabia do all the talking on here and outside as he has better connections! Leaving here in the morning and heading for Riad Assllaf campsite, Tiznit, maybe we can meet up or wave if passing. :cooler:

Yea, we have been told it's pretty boring. But the lure of driving to the tropics is tempting. We have a trip into the Sahara booked from mezouga later on. Time traveller and me worked out the other day you can replace a gas low bottle with a Maroc bottle in about 5 mins. The fittings are identical, we checked. Just shut off bottle 1 and replace bottle 2. Easy Peasy. So we will probably go the 3 months here. We have been in the mountains a week so now beach time.

If you take the connector off the gasflow bottle then put it on the morocco bottle then all you have to due is connect the hose marjohn

Been a punch up here in front of our motorhome which sadly I missed, a Dutch and French guy having an issue over grey water. Will find out more tomorrow and post.

well today has been the first day we have had a chance to just doss about lying in the sun doing nothing. and taking all day to do it.
it started a bit noisily because there were about 80 competitors in an Almeria to Dakar Rally overnighting here at Auberge du Sud in Merzouga.
they started firing up their engines about 7:00 and by 7:20 the smell of petrol, diesel and kerosene was overwhelming so I had to get up and take some photos.
there were a lot of teams from the Czech republic but also Austria, Denmark, Spain, UK.
I spoke to one of the bike riders who said they would be riding 550km today and 750km tomorrow all on piste. He however was going on the roads as he had had a fall yesterday and hurt his shoulder.

and then after lunch we laid by the pool some more until Gwens relatives left on camel to spend a night in a bedouin tent in the desert. after waving them off we sat in our recliners watching the sun go down with a rather large gin and tonic in hand. The perfect end to a rather perfect day!

I was taking Jess out and witnessed the incident. No fighting, more like handbags at dusk, just a lot of shouting and balling:boxing:. :boxing::boxing:
You have to watch the French as their operandi is 'don't do as I do'. We've seen some emptying toilet casettes in the bushes as they're too idle to carry their 'load' down to the official dump.
My dog had a second poo under a tree the other morning, and unfortunately Id used the last bag. Three French washer women witnessed the event and started shouting at me. I told them in English I would return and collect the deposit, which I duly did. I had no compunction in then telling the one who had been shouting the loudest, that the French were the worst offenders of letting their dogs shit anywhere and not picking it up, not to mention, allowing their husbands to piss anywhere into the bargain. Cordiale Ententes are us.com:rofl:

Hi campers (no not Butlins) how long are you staying at Tiznit(y)

Now Ken, you do pee in the bushes yourself occasionally

Wife told me the big Dutch guy (will check number plate again) went for the little French guy after he emptied his grey water in the grey water spot used by both of them, in the middle of the road. (This seems to work as quickly evaporates and leaves no smells). So, there must be something more to it.Both motorhomes are ajacent to each other so I guess something has been brewing for a time.
Weather looking a little overcast this morning.
