Happy new year from assilah ,

We have been shopping , re discovered the bakery inside the medina walls bought two " hub caps " in fact they are the size of transit wheel trims .... still hot from the oven , we ate half of one in 50 yards ..

got a new maroc mat 2 mt x 5 mt 200 d ,

a load of right n left handed gas bottle fittings that you cannot buy in the uk now adays and a tap for a 907 all for under £5

Rosie is well stacked ..... i mean with veg n fruits ,

Pitza take away for lunch £2.25 ... i know how to treat a gal

Gaurdian fetched us some service water 15 lt , we gave him 10d and a bag of sweets , he was happy ,

spoke to an english guy who lives here and leaves his camper parked here all the time and he suggested not to be giving beer etc as they come to expect it from the mh.s ,

we are parked next to a german lady ( wrong side of 65 ) who has been living in her fiat ducato panel van for 5 years and just moves around with the warm weather and is travelling solo , amazing to listen to ,
We met a Dutch couple who shipped their van to the USA For a year long tour .. cost the 11,000€ for insurance and van shipping ,

Hi Steve, r
Remember us from Cotton Arms,? We were the auto trail behind you, sat next to you at the do in the Pavilion and we spend our winters in Spain. We hoped to pay you a visit some time when you are over here and have been watching to see if you were going to Morocco. So sorry to hear you are having a bad time. Can't understand why you cant get travel insurance though unless your heart attack is very recent because lots of people far older than you with heart and other health problems make it. Obviously the insurance is loaded but worth it if you want a bit of sun on your back.......the best medicine there is ! Hopefully you will be able to make it in the not too distant future. The weather at the moment is freezing from early evening to mid morning but sunny and warm for the middle part of the day. We hopefully leave for Morocco on the 10th but that is subject to a family illness which may mean we have to return to UK so we are playing it by ear at the moment. Get well soon

Hi Steve, r
Remember us from Cotton Arms,?

Of course... We were scheduled to come to Beni on 17th November and was going to gate crash as it was birthday week..
The attack was 4 Nov so trip got cancelled, as you have said main reason for no travel insurance is because it's been so recent. The first question they all ask is "was it within last 3 months".
Got the consultants appointment tomorrow morning so fingers crossed..
If you get to Morocco you will love it, go with an open mind, read the threads and we can chat over it sometime back in sunny Beni.... :)

Hope to see you all soon
this will be our 1st

When are coming over ?
Setting off tomorrow and sailing Portsmouth to Santander on Saturday, then making our way through Spain to join the crowd crossing on 15th

Hi,
Tina (my wife) and I are currently in the Algarve and are keen to join the Morocco trip, please add us to the list.
I believe it is planned start on 15th Jan. Is that correct?

Terry is crossing today and is co-ordinating the party that is crossing on 15th. There is a get together at an ACSI site close by from around the 10th. Buying tickets on 14th from Carlos and staying overnight at Algeciras Lidl car park.

Hope to see you soon

We are in Kenitra now , camping touristic 42 d a night no elec ,
temperature 32c today n blue skies ,:coolest:
when we arrived 11.45am there were 6 french and us , now there are 27 french 2 belgiums and us ,

as we left Assilah there was a Police tripod camera radar trap at the circle at the end of the dual carriageway 42mph they were wearing long white duster style coats , driving into the sun you could barely see them ,
Also on the peage 74 mph was a dark blue Police 4x4 was in the bushes of the central reservation with a tripod camera, and a cop also in dark blue ,
as we left the peage to enter Kenitra 42mph another police tripod camera again blue uniforms with their backs to the sun , very difficult to see ,

no Police check points seen so far , :xgrin:

Can anyone tell me when on the ferry are you able to stay with your pet in your van ? or are they allowed to have a walk ?

Assuming you are referring to the Algeciras - Tanger Med Ferry then pets must remain in the vehicle.

I made my contribution to the Morocco police benevolent fund lat year
Just coming out of a small town in the back of nowhere I was behind a truck that was putting out loads of smoke and running on rotten palm oil by the smell of it. Having cleared the town I overtook the truck and as I did got zapped. The police pulled me in and the truck went past with the driver obviously peeing himself laughing
Very smart, polite policeman says, with big smile on face, 300dh please, thank you for visiting our country have a nice day.
All part of the experience !!

Sat at the Lidl car park, Algecirus, all loaded and ready to go. Booked (ticket €220 from Carlos) onto the 1000 ferry tomorrow morning, a fair number of MH here of varying nationalities, looks like it will be whack y races to the ferry port tomorrow morning. Looking forward to the second part of our Moroccan adventure. :)

re: pre-crossing campsites

Bella Vista finally have come back to me and want €26 per night. I think that's too much, as well as the tightness of some of the pitches we were allocated last year. So I've booked 8 places at Parque Tropical, nr Estepona. €14 with ACSI card, otherwise €16.70 (I'll try and twist their arms when I get there; I'm planning to arrive 10th January) I've also asked for 4 larger pitches for those taking their gin palaces......

I've just read this on FACTS.........
I hope it is a one off. :(

"Hi All -

I learned the hard way today to make sure you pay the correct guardian at the Agadir Souk parking. He is the one at the exit.

My lesson comes in the form of a cracked seitz window, caused by a stone launched at a high velocity from the hand of such guardian."

Stay safe,

Jock.

Thanks Jock
Yes I read that too. Probably a one-off.
Reading between the lines of subsequent posts it appears the MH owner paid some chancer and then refused to pay the genuine guardian.
As the OP admitted, in hindsight, it wasn't worth arguing about for the sake of 20p.

We may have done that in Meknes. Bloke parked us up, we paid him. But as we left someone came rushing towards us shouting, by that time we were in traffic. I think we paid properly and this was just a different guardian. But any easy mistake to make.

Latest news from Sue & Dave. They have left TanTan Plage and are now at Taghazoute Beach. Dave pictured below on a 'Docker'.

Happy New Year Everyone,

Just a quick catch up, we had a great Christmas in El Ouatia, left there on the 28th and came straight here to Taghazoute, there were still signs of the flood damage along the way, but in the main things are back to normal.

We had a great New Years Eve, and are having FUN in the sun.

Catch up again soon

Sue and Dave

Dave in Tan Tan, he wants one of these, Christmas Eve Party, Presents from the French, Mr & Mrs Christmas, some of the flood damage in the mountains, and on the flat road, and even here in Taghazoute.
