I think people bought a Maroc bottle and removed one gas flow bottle and put the maroc bottle in its place as they are the same French left hand thread ,

Just used the data provided by Suggy to produce POI files for Gaz Stations, Supermarkets and Places to Visit. These are available in Resources for your Tom Tom map

Thats exactly what we did:
Turn bottles off.
Extinguish cigarette.
If you have a twin bottle system undo the hose from the regulator to the bottle you are removing at the bottle end. Also disconnect the hose joining the two bottles together. I tape a plastic bag round the free end of that hose to stop any dirt getting in,
Remove bottle & replace with Maroccan bottle.
Reconnect the hose that joins the bottle to the regulator
Turn bottle on - job done.
The only tool you need is a large adjustable spanner
If you have a single bottle system I thnk there will only be one hose to disconnect and reconnect,
Note it is a good idea to have spare rubber washers for the hose fittings and to replace them when you change bottles. It is common for most of us to overtighten the hose fittings which may mash the washer such that it doesn't seal properly when you put the replacement bottle on. If this happens you will get a smelly gas locker and no amount of tightening the fittings will stop the leak. (Experience talking here).

what sort of roadside, breakdown cover do other people have for morocco?

Thanks Graham for the coordinates
There are TWO Marjanes in Marrakech.
One sells alcohol and the other one doesn't.
I have checked and the cordinates given for Marjane Marrakech are for the Marjane that DOES sell alcohol!
(And by using Google maps I worked out how I ended up at the wrong Marjane last year! Kiwi Coss who was travelling with us was gutted because he was running really low on beer at the time).
Other Marjanes that I can conform were selling alcohol last year were Agadir and Meknes (where Kiwi finally slaked his thirst).
But anyway, load up in Spain because alcohol isn't cheap in Morocco.

I have ADAC but it only covers 45 days in Morocco I plan to stay longer so fingers crossed nothing happens :cautious:

We have ADAC for what use it was  but the local mechanic was prety good got us away then went to the main agent in Agadir ,
Plenty local garages and they are very good at adapting / make do and mend , like we used to do in uk 20 years ago , Art work / Paint Work / Nudge Bars . Solar panels , you name it ...lol...

Make sure you have a tow strap / rope just in case ,

Gas Bottles ,
You can buy all the Brass couplings for the bottles , taps to fit the 907 , pipe and washers in any hardware shop in any town , for only a few Dhirams ,
when you get to Asilah ask any of the gaurdians and they will walk up into the town and show you where to get bits from ,

unless your french / arabic is really good just draw what you want , thats what i did and hey presto out came a jar of fittings ...:coolest:

Mustafa in Agadir had mine refilled overnight with propane? for 200dh. They went to the refinery outside of Marrakesh I believe.

Was probably yourself Colin that I read about ? I knew someone posted it with a pic
Btw thanks for the chat before we left and hope to catch up with you when you get over I have some techy issues I would like to pick your brain with ta

Has anyone told dabhand he doesn't need his inflatable and water wings ???
:-)

We had an empty Moroccan bottle given to us in Marakech by a Funster on his way back home. When we got to Taghazoute there was a feller in a rather smart Renault van who said he could get it filled with propane and the cost would be £15 approx and it would take 3 days. He said to pay him when he returned. I thought well the bottle cost me nowt so if I don't see it again Ive lost nowt.

True to his word he was back after 3 days having taken the bottle over 200 kms and back to/from Marakech and had it filled at the gas plant. He found us amongst the 100's of vans wilding at Taghazoute. I gladly paid him the £15 in dirhams.

I had bought a gaslow pigtail which enabled the Moroccan bottle to be connected to the gaslow filler point. As it transpired we didn't need use it, having had ehu at any sites we had stayed on. By the time we got on the ferry going back, we must have been running on fumes by the time we got back to Algeceras.

The same feller was also selling some good quality Moroccan mats at a fraction of the cost of what the guy at the UK shows charged. If he didn't have your colour he'd be back in a day a two with one to suit.

PS - tended to cook most hot meals on a little outdoor Moroccan stove

My understanding from previous posts is you will not be able to refill Gaslow bottles in Moroc. However, you can feed gas into the system via a French bottle and Gaslow connector to your external fill point.

Yep, that's just about right. I've got hold of a Spanish bottle and adapter to plumb straight in to the Gaslow through the filler connection. I've worked out that if I start with it and the Gaslow full, we'll be okay. If not I can probably get the Spanish bottle refilled. As a backup I've also got a Camping Gaz adapter to do the same job - the bottles are identical to those you can buy anywhere in Maroc for peanuts. Belt and braces!

I'm told that the Gaslow thread is the same as French bottles - I think it's in the thread somewhere near the beginning. Unfortunately I can't get a Maroc gas bottle in the locker.

For a portable you cannot beat buying a gas ring and a bottle again anywhere - it's what the locals use to cook their tajines under the counters in the souk! Several Funsters bought them last year, cost was approx £5. If you're posh you can buy a nice shiny windbreak too - for about £1.50.

The list for 15th now stands at 14:
Depart 15th
TerryL
Abforfun
Philippft
Canopus
Timetraveller
Eamless
dabhand
CherryPirate ??
Bilimanjaro ??

Mr Ed
tremybach

Depart 8th

Please let me know if there are any changes; I'll be contacting everyone by PM next week.

Bought 2 new 13 kg propanes and put them in the van so I know they are both full and a full one in the garage, reckon that should be enough gas, I'll eat salad if it isn't !

Now I know you are all very experienced but get your local tyre place to check your tyres ready for your trip, if you have twin wheels on the back take the outer wheel off to check the inner, just found an 06 tyre on mine, anyhow replaced all six, money well spent I hope!

Got the van serviced ready for Morocco, asked garage to give it the once over for trip, he found two cracked? Discs.
New discs and pads all round, two new ball joints, 3 new wiper blades, spare drive belt and fuel filter £852 this is getting to be an expensive trip and I haven't even got there yet:xgrin:

Well we managed for four weeks on (slightly less than) two 6kg bottles! You'll probably have enough to refill everybody else at that rate!:winky:

Camping Morocco book arrived yesterday :xgrin: Green card on it's way. Trying not to get excited in case doggy certificate doesn't come through. Oh and van getting an early MOT on Tuesday, keeping everything crossed.

Why thank you kind sir. I don't suppose anyone has this update downloaded as a PDF or similar. We don't have the where- with-all to print off and in the ipad it doesn't let you print to a PDF or anything other than a printer.

Sorry unable to do that but if no one else can, remind me on the 4th Jan (or there about's) and I will print a copy off for you and hand over on the 15th.
