Morocco 2015

Parked in lidl car park, Algeciras. Guess where we are going tomorrow?
Had to pay €220 as no discount for one van!
Planned to head to Merzouga first but t'interweb says high of 15-18° and lows of 1-5° whereas Taghazout is high of 20° and lows of 10-12°
Anyone got a good weather site to check these or we may be doing the same as last year.
Makems, you said you were heading anticlock this year. Done any homework on the temps please

Not much point yet for us Daz, we won't be in Merzouga until the end of Jan.
One thing I noticed last year though was that the cool breeze you often get off the sea at Taghazoute is absent in the desert (no surprise in that really!) but it does mean you get the full benefit of any heat in the sun.
Remember that temperatures quoted are IN THE SHADE so 18 in the shade will be nice and warm in the sun. Definitely cold at night though.

When we went a couple of years ago, we all went together to Carlos so we could haggle for best discount and all travel on the same ferry,

I think thats the intention this time Sue on the 15th. Its the early solo birds who are keen to have a Muslim Christmas :xsurprised: that have been unable to get any discount.:xsad:

Landed.
Caught 10am ferry, sailed at 11.30.
Landed 12 maroc time, out of port by 2.10!
Cash changed, fuelled up (9.18dh/l on m way, about 67p!) old maroc telecom card "refreshed" by man in shop, then topped up for a month for 100dh.
Now sat in "sunny" Asilah (same as last year) with a bottle of Carlos' finest sidra with a grand total of three vans at the other end to the harbour. Still 30dh.
Hoping to see a dry road tomorrow.

Read that thanks. They all say its ok.
Supposed to be drying out but on way from Tangier to Asilah there were places when both sides of the road were just flooded fields.
Just stopped raining here. Good forecast for next couple of weeks.
Hope some of it will drain off soon.

The top part of Morocco has a lot of rain , hence all the greenery , on our first visit 2013 we were expecting to see sand , but it looked just like the uk , raining heavily and every where green and flooded , It wasn't until we got near the Atlas that it became dry and sunny .
Azrou Euro Camp . just looked at the 2014 diary, it took 5 hours from Asilah 285 miles , 4 Police Radar traps plus Police check points , loads of varying speed limits as well 24 , 36, 48, 62, mph
saw a few 24 mph ( 40 k ) on bends with Radar Cops in the bushes further up the road ,

If you havent been try to visit the Cascades de azoud , campsite Zebra ,and Ini-n-Ifri to the Rock Arch about 1 hour away towards Marakesh ,

Daz don't go offering the natives chipolata sausages cos they'll never eat them frigging dindi sausages again, you know the ones that Suggy lives on:xrofl::xrofl::xrofl:.

Ah fond memories , watching Ken washing the marinade of the Dindi in Agze ...

Another vote here for Cascades D'Azoud. Absolutely beautiful and should be pretty impressive after all the rain. Be prepared for a lot of steps though.
Oh and don't go in the normal entrance which is to the left, you'll be hassled to death by "guides" who will show you the sights and by the vendors. Go to the right of the big building and just follow your nose. You can't get lost, just follow the path downhill. At the bottom is the boat taking you under the waterfall and some coffee shops/cafes. Then climb the steps back to the top and you will probably see some of the apes. Warning - there are a lot of steps!
