Aked me if Brest was a port - I answered yes but the wondered if I should have said 'oui'.
Second attempt asked me what day was today - so clever sh1t me answers 'Mercredi' to be told again Id answered incorrectly.

Strikes me its like a lot of other French bureaucracy - tres difficile

look at the front page there should be a box to click english,

Is anyone taking their dog this time? I am getting a bit confused about the requirements for coming back from Morocco. We have the EU passport all correct and valid, but I have been reading that we need a certificate relating to the rabies jab, have I got the wrong end of the stick, does anyone know?

We are having a last minute rush to get everything in order.

You defenatly need a certificate for rabies
It proves that the rabies vaccine has worked
I had our mutt done last year it takes
From injection 2 weeks to take
then blood test and up to 2 weeks to get results back
You best get down vets and get it sorted
I can't remeber what it's called I think it tetras test

Oh blimey, I took her to the vets yesterday to have her checked over and check her chip. I said to the vet is there anything else for Morocco and she said no. Grrrrrr

Will give the a call tomorrow. She had her rabies injection last August, we could have had this certificate done ages ago. Still just about enough time though.

Thanks Peter and Elaine, you might have just saved our trip.

My vet, told me about this, thank goodness and it took two weeks for the result to come back with the antibodies result, all ok. Wouldn't have had a clue otherwise.

I am in a bit of a panic now. Have just read this and hope that the last paragraph underlined is the one that applies to us as she was vaccinated last year. I really hope we can get our certificate in time.

Unlisted countries

The following rules must be followed:

  • your pet must have a blood test 30 days after the rabies vaccination (the date of the vaccination counts as day 0, not day 1)
  • your vet must send the the blood test to an EU approved blood testing laboratory
  • you must wait 3 calendar months from the date the blood sample was taken before you travel
  • the results of the blood test must show that the vaccination was successful
  • your vet must give you a copy of the test results
You don’t have to wait 3 months if your pet was vaccinated, blood tested and given a pet passport in the EU before travelling to an unlisted country.

When are you travelling to Morocco Souix?

Please be careful I am 99.9 certain that you can not re enter spain from moroco with out the certificate
It could end up costing you a fortune in quarantine fees
Our vet sorted it all out
we could not take our dog with us as she failed the blood test and left it too late to redo vaccine and test
so she had to stay home with our daughter

You state that your dog has had a rabies injection and been tested I believe. If you then have a certificate stating that you have met the required levels and the last injection has not expired you should be Ok. Had the pet passport had the injection and test recorded?

She has had the vaccination but there was not a blood test done afterwards.

The blood test will cost you in the region of £70 to £100 and can take weeks to come back. If the rabies antibodies are found to be positive in the dogs blood you will receive the certificate. You need this certificate to travel to none listed countries such as Maroc. Read back on this thread around page 6 or 7.

Last year I was caught in a similar situation.

After the first injection a blood test was done but neither of the results came up to the required level for our dogs. We decided to give them a further injection followed by another blood test. Success.

Note: on entry back to Spain we were not asked anything about the dogs and they had no idea they were in the vehicle. I am not suggesting you should ignore the regulations but it cost us a lot for no one too take any notice

Colin

PM Ken canopus he knows a bit more than I they had their dog Jess the terrorist with them

Pages 8,9 have got this subject VERY well covered - Ken spent a lot of time explaining things in minute detail........

So much for the Xray machine at Tanger med port ... maybe it is set for people :) lol ..

The Moroccans at Tanger Med are only interested in whether you're exporting Moroccans. They don't give a monkeys about dogs unless one bit them.

We were asked to take the dogs out of the van but it was nowhere near the passport checks etc

Right, I have my head around it now, all will depend on me getting and appointment tomorrow for dog to have test and then it will be down to the wire as to whether it comes back in time. Wish I had thought about this sooner, or read the whole thread earlier!

I dare say you could get blood tests done in 24/48 hours at a cost if you knew where the lab was. The Vet will just send the phial of blood off to the lab and you wait 2 weeks or longer.

Try this place they may be able to help and are close to Harborough
