I'm not criticising Morelo mirrors in particular, just wondering how far we are away from being able to use cameras instead.

IMO its inevitable that mirrors also cause blind spots, they are always going to be a compromise because of the angle of reflection between what they need to show and where it is possible to mount them.
Hi Jon

At the Commercial Vehicle show last year Brigade electronics were showing a camera system to replace all mirrors, they told me it was legal but I can now find no mention of it on the web so don't know what has happened to it.

Martin, the Yanks have a system, https://www.velvac.com/products/cameras-vision-systems. They had just come out when I was about to sell my RV a few years back. However for me it would be hard to rely on a system like that without a mechanical backup no matter how slick. I was also offered a birds eye type system but it is an issue on motorhomes with awnings on the side wall.

I know a few people on here have the 360 camera system and awnings.

Know what you mean about total reliance on electronic though.

Didnt he still manage to hit something? Or have I misremembered?
If that was the case it would confirm my feelings, highlighted by parking sensors for example, you lose the ability to make the correct judgement as you rely on the sensor and can get duped.

Thanks for posting the photos; it is indeed a tough looking beast, almost too much so for a motorhome.

Did he say what the cost was?

No did’nt ask, but I can guess. I took some more photos around the back showing the side out. With all these motorhomes its a job to know becuse you dont know what has been added, the basic price for one is £500,000 but if you can afford that you dont go for basic.
My guess £700,000.:)
p.s. In the 2nd photo you can see some tree stuck on the mirror, still getting use to it :D

Hi Michael

I think that will be cooling for the exhaust with regen they can get very hot.

Martin
So at least your feet can be warm? I had regen on the RV and there was a warning not to implement the manual override start whilst parked near a grass verge! Just let it work automatically during motion. I always wondered what would happen in slow queuing traffic with a nice painted car next to my exhaust outlet!

Maybe it has a retarder fitted (I want one of those)!

A certain young lady whose name starts with a "T" and ends with "rudi" at Southdown Motorhomes told me when looking at a Concorde Chaisma that "you can't have a retarder fitted as they catch fire"! Doh!

As to the comments on size, same for me, fantastic van but too big.
Plus if I scuffed it I would cry:(, mine at 9m is good for most sites, with 12m and 26 ton I would be in a permanent state of shitting myself:unsure:.

I hang mine sideways on the rear ,saves towing
Have you looked at that with yours , I would think payload shouldn't be a problem :)

Yes I did look at that option and others and it all got a bit complicated and I started to lose the will to live:( so went with a simple trailer, which is working out fine.
We dont always take the mp3, just on long haul trips.
We have had the mp3 for about a year and it has worked out fantastic for us:)

OMG that made me laugh out loud - so funny!

Looks gorgeous - what is that on the trailer? (is that an MP3? - no idea what that is)
