Do l recall you thinking about a Blue eyed husky next? You could do a runner😉

I had a couple of Fiat 126s, a lovely air cooled blue one called Wally and then a water cooled primrose yellow one which we named Totty which was almost mint as he had been stored in a garage for many years and just needed a good service and new tyres.

That white box van would do me if it was an auto….

Give him some five finger death punch…. Works for me…😉

And no you can’t kidnap a huskie, they rule all around them including the owner, probably why he kicks it outside…😆

That white box van was what I was looking for back in June. That would make an awesome camper and only 18k miles.

After the red rust bucket air cooled one my Mum had (which she inexplicably loved) she got a brand new 126bis, just like your yellow one, but in the blue - quite civilised compared to the old one, being water cooled with a hatchback and 700cc of raw power!

I'm afraid though the Fiat salesman didn't share your liking of the yellow - "We offer 4 colours, blue, red, white or jaundice - which would you like?" Still sticks in my mind now!

It's beautiful... I'd love it . Bit pricey mind but compared to a 500 it's a good buy . Especially if the restoration has been done right.

Tax ,mot and ulez excempt too.

Be nice on a trailer with motorhome
You don't see many 127s about these days. I had a 127 sport. 75bhp. Great car. It had a great big go faster stripe.

Regarding pensions, I know people that don’t get the full pension so they get “pension credit” which makes it up to the normal pension plus a load of other benefits so what’s the point in paying to making it up…🤔

Of course we don’t know what the case might be in 18yrs time….

I think you can only go abroad for up to 4 weeks if you receive Pension Credits

The Pension Guaranteed Credit will only take it up to the minimum pension rate, not the maximum and it is means tested so if he had savings over the minimum allowed then depending on how much above that he had it would eat away at the pension credit itself plus you have to live in the UK. There's also Pension Savings Credit which is a 'reward' for having some savings but again if you have too much you won't get it.

As Tam's a long way off it's not worth worrying about at the moment.

Yeah but that's the bit I believe you don't get if you're not in the UK.

Be careful if you buy a flat with a view to renting it out. Tenants have lots of rights now and it can be very difficult to get them out even if they withhold rent or trash the place. Not all the income is”free” - all sorts of safety certificates etc. are needed and maintenance is ongoing. Sometimes it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Also a decent driveway even if not shared may get the neighbours excited if a big MH is parked there long term. Perhaps a small house would be more suitable even if more expensive?

I wouldn't be buying anything with a view to renting it out. I'd be buying something as a base and future investment. I'm not even sure at the minute if I would ever rent it out. It would depend on what I decide to do .

But I've had a few flats and houses before. Couldn't care less about the neighbours thoughts on anything. If I buy something with a driveway it'll have a motorhome parked on it lol. If neighbours object they can always move. My last house had several vehicles and a few motorbikes in the drive. The price I'm willing to pay it will be an old ex council property with no clauses etc. Basically my land my rights etc.

Doubt I'd pick up a house for what price I'm looking at paying.

For renting something there's the option to buy something like this . With a longterm tenant already in place.

That's been up for sale for a while now so probably accept an offer below asking price. But the rental seems low on it.

Rent seems OK

I have rented a one bed flat, modern, up to a good standard in Derby to a tenant at a current rent of £415 pcm.

Tenant has been there 9 years, no problem.

Agent keeps trying to get me to increase the rent (more fees for them) - won't happen!

Good tenant, could get more rent but happy with what I get!

Better than what the banks will return !

The rent might be low, because they are very good tenants, and the landlord would prefer that.
Also naybe housing benefit led?

I had a really good tenant fir years, and gradually the rent become uncompetitive But I didn't have to worry about void periods, or risking a poor tenant, so it was worth it.
Eventually he left and I refurbished it and put the rent up.
So far, I have been pretty lucky with tenants. Hope I haven't jinxed it.

Tam. Enjoying your thead and following your adventures. Mainly silently but the recent discussions about the future led me to wonder whether you’d considered getting work in the marine industry. There are plenty of marina/boat yards on the west coast of Scotland and the skills and knowledge you’ve gained with motorhomes would be transferrable to that environment: glass fibre repair work, boat habitation equipment etc. etc. Many of these places have large yards where space could likely be found for a motorhome, particularly in the summer when there are less boats in storage. Just a thought.

We have a rental property, tenant has been in 6 years. similar houses in the same street are rented out for £200 a month more, do we want to put the rent up - NO. Tenant looks after any minor repairs without claiming costs, keep the garden tidy etc, if we were away and there was any major leaks etc he would know a tradesman & get it sorted & we would reimburse, Rent always paid on time. No stress

Tam Is it just me that thinks it's too early to start thinking about buying property anywhere, even though you are now in your Van and travelling the grief and change in your circumstances need processing, I'm a believer in opportunity showing itself and it's such early days you, I'd wait a little while before making any major decisions and allow a little time to process your thoughts.

Ah OK.... I was going on something a few folk had said when I'd spoke about pensions before...I think it was @Shrimp that had said something about having pension top up or benefit or something that meant you couldn't get it outside the UK but maybe I misunderstood.
I have Pension Credit and am not to go abroad for more than 4 weeks, it’s only because I draw the extra Pension.
I never got my full Years for the State Pension, if I had it wouldn’t be a problem.

Yes I thought that was what you said to me before .

So I'm planning to make sure I have the full 35 years before I retire either by working the other 5 or I'll pay it myself.
