MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

I'm not even sure how these vanlifers do it ....OK so I don't do youtube... but I have an Instagram and I think I post fairly good pics etc on there but I just can't build my following . Even my niece who just has a profile full of selfies has over 3000 followers lol and mine has had 500 and odd for 3 bloody years .. in fact I've lost followers rather than gain them.

I don't know how to make money from vlogging etc because I don't want to spend all my time making and editing videos and exaggerating stuff to get viewers .

Think I'm too boring to be honest ,

You are definitely not boring Tam,you have hundreds on here following your travels wishing it was us,and your pictures are very good (y)

My problem being I'm not that computer literate. Certainly no qualifications, I even considered teaching English somewhere but then I thought surely you need to be able to speak the language of the country you're in to do that ...and I can't.
That would be soooooo cruel ... can you imagine some poor sods abroad trying to learn English from you and think that all those Scottish words you'd taught them were proper 'English' ones and wonder why they got funny looks when using them! Neeps, tatties, dreich, not to mention the belief that wild haggis really do exist.

Not to mention Dugs   :rofl:

You can if you feed dogs….🙂😉
Yeah but I think the idea is to make a profit Gary lol. And I fail at that. For the amount of strays in Morocco the bloody dog food there was expensive. Not encountered a great deal of strays here yet this trip so not went through much food but it's the same price as UK here.

Tam you make money out of cars and motorhomes - 'Wheeler Dealer'

Park the van on a farm (Uttoxeter ? :xrofl:), rent a part of an outbuilding, use farm as your address.............fix a few tractors?

Tam, try to put all this worry behind you, make the most of your time with the dugs And the warmer weather
I also qm not too keen on the government in Turkye, but then the government here is pretty 💩 too.
It's where I went for my first proper holiday abroad, one of my friends and work colleagues was there the same time, she signed up to stay at the same hotel the following year, by then they had had A villa built and lived there for several years till her husbands ill heath forced them back to uk. Like everywhere there are good, bad and indifferent.
Judging by the no of things I read on faceache, you could do worse than repairing campers, just make sure you have good insurance
For starters get your HGV license , always have a job where ever you are, you could set up MHF recovery service👍😎
Now that is an idea, sons' old school friend has got his, works agency 6 months, lives in Goa 6 months, wife does 6 months agency at whatever she can get, they love the life.

Aye I might have to look in to it more , I was doing a bit of research in to it last year while I was In Ireland, mum sent me some info etc and I could trace my great grandfather Owen Flaherty back to moycullen ... I posted some photos of him up etc on last years thread.

It is frustrating though even at my age , I really feel for the younger generations who have lost all these opportunities.

I just regret not doing my original plan in 2017 of getting Spanish residency as that was how all this started .... I had a job offer in gran Canaria and I sold up and resigned to go do that ....then I decided last minute to buy a mh and travel for a year instead ..

Hindsight is a wonderful thing .
If your most recent Irish ancestor is a great grandparent then unfortunately you won't qualify for Irish citizenship through ancestory. If your granny was born in Dumbarton then you will need to explore if any of your three other grandparents were born on the island of Ireland.

My ex used to do that in his van. Park onsite, and travel away for 4,/5 nights, back to the van. He had a house too, but could be away for weeks on end.
Or I do Agency work, and live in the van wherever I am working.

I'm not sure if care work is your thing, but maybe live in helper? I would imagine a male needing assistance would like having a male companion?
Van parked outside, and no living costs. Not sure if that would work with the dogs though.

Been watching Camper Vibe girls, they are planning to buy a house in Ireland, and still travel. I don't know if they have Irish family though. Property needing work seems quite cheap. After 5 years you have residency and no restrictions In Europe. I think....

I'm currently taking a break from work, having saved hard. Spain and Morocco January to April.
Good luck, and try to relax, things might fall into place when you least expect it.

Karen

Might be a living in helping with self builds. Ex-Pawers (YouTube) have just lived through a nightmare importing a German self build van donated to them into Spain which they had to completely strip out to get it registered and are now considering how to rebuild. There must be others who could use your expertise in whatever country you decide to settle in.

Talking of HGV I did this until it all went tits up so be careful if you go down that route.

I picked a hitchhiker up, a young lady with a huge chest “ She said “ Are you going to Oldham?”
I misconstrued what she meant and the police finished up coming.

Why don’t you do a Youtube channel? We would all follow you and the advertisers would pour in. Think how many people would love those dogs of yours. (y)

Great idea..............subtitled?😁

I don't think I'd get anywhere near enough followers on YouTube unfortunately. You need thousands

Youtube is a funny beast. Campervibe, as already mentioned, great channel, very well edited, funny, good content, currently 96,400 subscribers(that surprised me it's gone up a lot recently, maybe the Ireland house hunt) been posting 4 years.
Ame In a Van started popping up on my recommended feeds, I ignored for ages as it was a pretty girl waffling on about van life, was really bored one day so watched one, she is bloody good at YouTube!! Only been posting a year but has 420k followers, it is well edited, funny, content is a bit samey and she thrives off her looks, and I think that's where a lot of followers come from.
It would be a full time job, building up enough of a following to make any money, need investment in recording, editing kit etc.

If I was to hang my keyboard up and try to add to my taken early private pension (not by choice), I would do a self build van, a 5 or 7 ton Iveco, the traditional bed over the garage would be over a big metal cage where I could put gardening equipment in the spring, summer and early autumn months, and I would run a gardening business based mainly on grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, basic stuff. I would use all electric kit, have as much solar as would fit on the roof x2

Times 2 I hear you say, yes, I've never understood why people don't 'stack' solar, I would have a slide out second set of panels on a separate MPPT controller so when parked up they can be slid out to double the array and charge batteries for the garden machines.

When gardening season is over empty the cage and fill with winter sun fun things, paddleboards, mountain bikes etc. and off we go.

The vast majority of those subscribers to Ame in a van will be males because she is young and very attractive.

Like I said.
Yep that's unfortunately why a lot of the young girls doing it have so many followers. Even campervibe will have a few thousand knuckledraggin males following in the hope they see some lesbian action.

I follow a Scottish vanlifer tattooist called transitdaddy and the comments she gets on posts sometimes is vomit inducing .

I'm not sure I really need that hassle in my life lol.

Exactly I just googled that Ame in a van and the first video that came up when I clicked on her channel was of her having a shower. That says it all really.

I bet if I posted a video of me having a shower I'd get people paying me to never do it again lol

That's an idea eh I only need 250k people to pay a pound or 25k to pay a tenner and I can buy a golden visa lol
