MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

You can sell photographs Tam. I know a couple of folks who do this but don’t know how, where etc. I know one guy usually around Wiltshire who takes excellent pics of ancient monuments. He prints them out as postcards and framed pics and sells them. Could do a hell of a lot more than he does but he doesn’t want to promote himself, no confidence.
Taking pics of a world heritage site gives you a worldwide customer base if you want to tap into it.

End of the day we are only here once matey so try to chill and enjoy 👍

Hi Tam. I expect that apart from worrying about the future you're still grieving for your Mum and added to that you're grieving for the life you've had these last few years. Don't push yourself too hard to make decisions and then hopefully the right decision will come to you.
It's hard when you're full of these emotions to think properly and it only makes it worse by trying.
I don't know if you can do this but I've found out a couple of things that have helped me:
make a list of all the good things in your life and then a separate list of all the worries and bad things.
Decide what you can comfortably cope with financially for the next six months or so if you don't make any decisions; write that down and then subtract from your savings etc. Write it down. You'll probably find that it won't make that much difference to what you've got left and you can relax over it.
Park all the decisions etc somewhere in your mind where you don't have to look at them for now. Say to yourself when they come back and haunt you: I'm just parking this thought for the moment out of sight and will look at it later
Finally, make a bonfire of the bad list (sounds daft but I found that worked).
Then; play with the dogs, look at the view, find a fellow camper to talk to, have a beer and a nice meal and relax. Keep on filling our vicarious lives with your great pictures and thoughts.

Sorry if this has gone on a bit but it's the only way I'm coping myself at the moment and it has worked for me.
Steph

Totally agree with what Steph says above. You are still grieving and that’s never a good time to make decisions. Enjoy your next few months, make a note of possible options and see what feels right for you maybe in 6 months or so. You have a lot of skills and don‘t seem to need a huge income to keep you happy so I’m sure a plan will materialise which makes sense.

Also, remember when you said you Might embrace the “cafe culture” ie wandering to the nearest taverna each morning for a coffee & a natter? I know it’s not what you usually do, but isolation doesn’t help you!

I agree... park the future halfway down your 'to do' list.
Have a couple of months off, a holiday, after the year you've had, you deserve it, you need it.

We love Turkey but our favorite spot has to be Dalyan been several times and its a great mix of lakes rivers and beautiful beaches! Will get there one day in the MH I hope!!

Take a year out, it won’t cost you much more then what your already doing…

Don’t do YouTube… it’ll change you for the worse…☹️

Within a year a lot can happen and somewhere along you’ll find something to do…☀️😎

I think everyone is trying to show Tam that there are lots of options and opportunities (y)

Also, the idle chatter might bring ideas or information that may help your decision making. Or even clarify the restrictions or opportunities 👍

My alternative back in Scotland is something like this

Flat with a driveway

That looks ok for the money and a suitable lockup and leave for the winter kinda place.
You could still do you winter travels and have a base for the summer to do some work 👍

Tam check out a cheap plot in Portugal for use later on a few olive trees price of olive oil gone through the roof it won’t break the bank and possibly use it as collateral for something later on . Just a thought 👍

Yeah that's my thinking . I can't and won't be doing anything till next year anyway I'm just giving thought to my options.

Yeah that's also one of my previous ideas. Not been back to.portugal since 2019 though. But when I was there last time I stayed with a member from here for a week or so on their bit land and gave a hand with their grape harvest etc. I also follow project Amber on Instagram and YouTube that bought his bit land out there. It's an option I've kept on a back burner.

The idea of buying a cheap flat in Scotland is that I'd still have a good chunk of capital left should I wish to buy a bit land etc somewhere else aswell.

And yeah you're right with the olive oil ....I paid fecking €9 this morning for a 500ml bottle . Its obscene

In other news we moved around lunchtime from navarino Bay to the beach at messini. Bloody satnavs took me off the main road way too early and through a myriad of wee dirt tracks through olive trees ... eventually I got to a bit I just couldn't get through and had a hairy 5 minutes of reversing back through the trees with no bloody mirrors as they got folded back by the branches...fortunately I escaped with no damage to moby bar a few branch scratches and got back on to the main road.

So I got here around 1.30pm

There's maybe 6- 10 vans spread along the beach. Not as sunny today buy still 20° so shorts and vest top weather still. Well until I started writing this lol as the heavens have now opened and it's peeing it down .

Picked up some oranges. Tatties carrots and a bottle of expensive olive oil on route from a roadside vendor , 6kg of oranges £4.50 , tatties €0.80 , carrots €0.50 and 500ml of oil €9.00

Wee woman looked like she hadn't seen water in 2 months lol ...so I suspect she picked them all this morning 🤣🤣

No sooner had I parked up beside one wee Austrian camper than a bloody German came and parked with 6 foot of me. ....feckin pest.

Yep that's unfortunately why a lot of the young girls doing it have so many followers. Even campervibe will have a few thousand knuckledraggin males following in the hope they see some lesbian action.

I follow a Scottish vanlifer tattooist called transitdaddy and the comments she gets on posts sometimes is vomit inducing .

I'm not sure I really need that hassle in my life lol.
You just need to appeal to the mature ladies. :giggle:

You could get a nice single garage near a channel port for that.

The Germans are really out in force this winter, they are everywhere… stayed on a new camperstop at Mazarrón for the last two nights as it was the only time and one space they had but it was completely rammed with Germans, there were more huge morellos and Concordes then at the factory…

But it was an excellent place, bar restaurant swimming pool and the best showers/toilets facilities I’ve ever seen anywhere all for €13 a night…

Now parked across the road from a camperstop near Alicante as it’s full too of Germans… it’s not looking good for my Xmas stay at Albir….☹️🤔

Yeah there does seem to be more than ever this year. But that couple I met on the boat were talking about how more and more Germans are going fulltime these days. Many are really annoyed by the direction Germany is going politically. So maybe its that. But nearly every van I've seen this year has been German. There's very few other nationalities and I've not seen another brit since I left Italy
