MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

No tides to worry about in the med.
There are tides in the Mediterranean sea, but less noticable than in other places.
Moved from elea this morning just a few miles down the road to kalo Nero.

Definitely a tide here gents , when I arrived we were down the beach and were sitting on some big lava rocks . A few hours later and those rocks are completely under water. The sea is at least 30 foot further up the beach than it was and its completely covered the rocks that were easily a metre to 1.5 metre high.

So it may not be a huge tide , but its not windy so it has to be a tide.

I've heard folk say there wasn't a tide in Greece before when I've been here but the sea Definitely comes further up the beach

We moved this morning from Elea just a few miles down the road. I Stopped to fill up with water from a spring on route but had to do it by hand as nothing to connect a hose to. The last time I was at Elea there were a few hose points along the beach and showers etc but those have all been taken away. Apparently the local village struggles for water and the amount being used on the beach was causing problems so there's no place to fill up there now. But there was a spring by the roadside so I filled up there. I'd hoped to use my wee pump that connects outside the van but it wasn't working . I don't think uncle lenny and I reconnected it when we put the new electrics in so I'll have to check and run new cables to it.

Anyway we came to kalo Nero which is the next village south of Elea, nice little park up again overlooking the beach ... there was 5 vans here when I arrived but 2 have left now so only 4 of us here. Again its all Germans, 2 are a little eccentric lol , one is a rolling advert for morroco and the other has a van with more hits than the beatles... I don't know how it's physically possible to do so much damage to a camper van.

Had a few doggy walks and a lovely relaxing day .....I finally feel like I'm on holiday, weather is great , its not tropical by any standards but its dry bright sunny and comfortably warm enough for t shirt . It rained a good but last night but the forecast for the coming week is pretty good now , up to 22° tomorrow for a couple of days.

Pups are all in good spirits and Ela seems to have matured in the last week ,she's so much better on a walk these days ,she stays fairly close by and no longer dissappear in to the dunes and bushes etc . Will hopefully get a nice sunset tonight. 20231211_111641_copy_1272x865.jpg

You probably already know this assuming it's still there, at the Restaurant in your photo at Kalo Nero there is a tap on the wall you can fill up at, found out after lugging containers filled with water from the cemetery next door.

Yes I spotted that on our walk earlier. But I've already filled up now from the spring this morning. I'll be alright now for another week . But probably only staying here one night.

I am so envious of your photos.
I wish I had the balls to just take a trip like yours.
Is there a chance for claim against Uncle Lenny? No supply to the water pump?
Only asking to cause mischief.
Keep the posts coming mate, I’m sitting in my front room, pissed off with the weather.

I think you are being kind here, they are seriously lacking in the brain department if in fact they have one, why would anyone plaster all that crap on a MH.

Thanks for that. We were there a few weeks ago and used the cemetery tap with a can - so next time.....

It is really not difficult: we have done it twice in the last three years.

Greece is very easy for parking as Tam proves with his photos. When we were at Kala Nero a few weeks ago the main beach parking was full, but we just drove to the other end, left from the approach road, and found another spot just behind the beach. Otherwise one can park across the road on the grass, which I suppose many do in peak times.

We only stop at that place for one night as there are other even better places with excellent tavernas.

Just book the ferry, best end April, May or end Aug. Drive Belgium, Germany and various routes through Alps. Once on the ferry you are virtually in Greece.

TAM, are you going to Kardamyli - I can't remember if you have been there before? Very worthwhile. Coming from north turn right at the church, cross the riverbed and there is parking at end of beach, although we parked in the riverbed - after checking the forecast.

Yes most likely. I've stayed there on both previous trips to Greece

I would never park in a riverbed and in today's uncertain climate changes:eek: Mr Gina M would have have been getting some serious headache from me on that one:ROFLMAO:
