MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

If not adjusted AT THE DRUMS the shoe wear means that when applied, the end of the shoe digs in and bangs.
Handbrake cable adjustment to pass the MOT means the drums are left.
That is my experience
Stating the bleeding obvious probably 🙄

You are a bit late to the party.

At least you’re on the road again and quickly.
Aye on to the next breakdown lol. The next one might be me having a nervous breakdown.

Just been to lidl and damm Greece has got expensive. A lot dearer than Italy at the minute which is a shock

I was very plesently surprised how cheap stuff was in Italy earlier in the year.
Still dear like, but a lot less than we were expecting.

It's another sad day for Mr wallet.
You need a new wallet ......

What sort of food are we talking about in Lidl Tam, meat, fish, or fruit & veg, give us an idea of the price of a whole chicken, thats always a good comparison.
I would be getting the fishing rods out, or maybe trying to get a deal off the fishermen in a harbour somewhere, love the fish over there done on charcoal fires, plus the breads of course.(y)

I am still in disbelief on the price of that wheel bearing, the cheapest option being 160 odd eu'so_O
I mean, if you put one on a table and asked everyone how much do you reckon for this wheel bearing, I for one would have been well short guessing at £35/40.
Glad you are back on the road again, but thinking about it, every trip you have had thus far in every van has meant stripping the breaks down for new pads, but not a wheel bearing until now.

Ela is a difficult choice, it will be really interesting to see if she remembers the place of her birth and early year or two.
Not trying to worry you Tam, but If you were Ela, would you chose a life on a sunny beach, with your mates, guests appearing now and again feeding you treats, or a nomadic touring life with one person and two other sharers, with a disappointing lack lustre weather of 4/6 months back in Fife.
Only joshing you, I think the "family" bond will win over all else.

It's another sad day for Mr wallet. That's the job done and we're back on the road but €400 lighter . Once again lol it cost more than I had guessed. €164 for the part so I had guessed maybe €300 all in but nope . So in just 7 days I've spent €1000 on repairs .

Not a good week

Colder today too , it's cloudy and overcast with rain forecast later. Only 14° .
Just filled up with diesel and now at lidl to stock up . Then going to head south a bit after lunch and a doggy walk .
Not a good week??
Tam, money on its own serves no purpose. It only becomes worth having if you use it to buy something that is either useful or appreciating in value or edible.

You now have a much better van than you had before. Other things will go wrong……they always do!!! But each time it happens you are upgrading the van, retaining or enhancing its value and reliability.

Glass half full matey. (y) (y) (y) (y)

So I had 3 choices with bearing , original €323 , €207 or €164

I'm going with the €164 I just can't afford to keep throwing my budget on repairs just now it's crazy

The bearing in UK was £180 but they had some deal on at the time so I got it for £90 .

This van is killing me slowly ...
George Harrison (killing me softly )
Near enough.
If you ARE going to break down, in the sun is the right place.

They never break down on the drive at home ;):sun:

Sod's Law, isn't it?

When my radiator went in Switzerland, it cost me twice what it would have done in the UK to get it sorted. But, it was the strains of the gorgeous Alpine mountains that finished it off - the garage was excellent, could not have been better - and we got to carry with on with a lovely holiday - so all was well, just as it will be with you.

Re garages squeezing you in - I think it's just human nature to want to help, you've got a visitor to your country in front of you who you know is on holiday and can't just go home for a bit, so you pull out the stops to help. I'd like to think that foreigners in the UK would get the same treatment. You almost certainly get treated better than the locals.

All food really , I bought a lot of the same stuff I bought in lidl in Italy and it was dearer here.
A whole chicken here was €6 ,

Yeah ebay price for an skf bearing is £60 including delivery .

Genuine iveco was £180 in UK but when I bought the other side there was some promotion on and I got it for £90 which I thought was ridiculous for a bearing.

But €236 was steep for approx 2 hours labour that's what pushed this price way up

I'm 95%sure that ela will be absolutely fine , she loves her life.

Your electrics sorted, the rumbling etc from the back ( which you were aware of ) sorted. That could have been worse with a shattered bearing!
You are on the road, these jobs you couldn’t have hoped to do yourself, yes at home
with tools and facilities you could have but you weren’t at home! You can now drive it with peace of mind.
Celebrate they are fixed and move on with your journey.
I admire your fortitude.

Anyway I went to the wee beach near igoumenitsa and had my lunch there and a chat with Petra and Norbert the Germans....I think they were going to go to corfu for a few days. They're a nice enough couple but when they started saying stuff like the covid vaccine could have caused my mums cancer I though it was time for me to head off. I dinnae need that in my head just now. So I drove 2 hours to Koronisia, the little peninsula that goes out in to the Ambracian gulf , I was here before and thought it was a nice little place. And the dogs met their first pair of strays , 2 huge Greek sheperds who are a pair of sweethearts, milo still feeling poorly which actually made him better behaved with the strays....no barking and running at them . It would be good if he'd behave like that all the time with other dogs but it won't last. Ela rolled in something fishy and had me boaking trying to clean her. She's lucky I'm letting her in the van the smelly cow.

Going to make some bolognese for tea .

I'm sure we will agree that Tams manner and approach earned him some quick attention at garages. I don't mean his threatening stance; his politeness and mildness does the trick. Just don't upset the buxxer ha ha

That lab looks like my Turkish Street dog, apart from the fact mines a female!
Thank you for posting that stop, we are off in Late March to Turkey so keep posting so I can piggy back.
