MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Yes it will be interesting to see if the shepherd dogs she was hanging out with are still there. I'm kinda anxious about whether or not she will want to stay with them or not ....maybe she preferred the life she had being free .
I think she'll prefer her new life 😀

I'd like to think so but I plan to stay at elia for a few days at least so she will be off the lead . It will be interesting to see if the other dogs are still there though. I'll have to stock up on some food .

This is the couple I met on the ferry from Germany yesterday's camper. They also have an iveco but its 2002 so mk3 model and a liaka.

Petra and Norbert music, they seem nice if a few crazy political ideas lol. They are very anti vaccine , even the dog doesn't get its vaccines which must make travelling to some places difficult. But otherwise they seem nice folk , she came up to visit me on deck several times yesterday to chat and see the dogs.

They have found a nice spot on a beach just 10 minutes from here View attachment 840798

Maybe I'll see them a few times on this trip , it's their first time back in Greece for 30 years.
I think that’s where we parked for the afternoon while waiting for the ferry ,it is close to a campsite and the police where there with in half a hour and kept an eye on us but we only stopped for a few hours so no problem.

Lol we've met quite a few like that travelling in the last few years. Anti vaxers do love to tell you about it. One crazy woman we met in Orgiva we'd only been speaking a few minutes and she was complaining about the price of land round there then said 'it's ok though as land will get cheap again when all the people who took the vaccine die' 😳

He has the wheels , caliper and half shaft all stripped off now. One thing this is giving me a chance to do is check over my 9 year old tyres and I have to say they are in excellent condition. Not a single crack or damaged bit anywhere and the tread is like new. They're not camping tyres but continental vanco 2 commercial tyres . They have all matching dates of week 34 year 14 I know they're an item of debate but they look perfect to me. View attachment 840701View attachment 840702
Best tyres for MH 👏👏

IIRC it was 2016 when the campsite re opened and that was when they started clamping down on the Drepano beach wildspot. Might get away with it if it shuts for winter though.

We parked on the main beach road along with others at the Plataria beach (maybe 5 miles south of igoumenitsa)no problem. Restaurant let us fill fresh water from the hose pipes.

But it's peeing down, just like Scotland. Since we got back from Germany at the end of October we have only had 4 or 5 dry days must be the worst consistent rain we have had for over 30 years.

Southern dogs have a lot more sense, Lilly (a springer) is here with my daughter, she took one look outside and refused to go out. She would rather sit here with crossed legs all day than go out in the rain, very sensible.
So you’ve got a daughter who has only let her dog out for 4 or 5 days since October??🤔🤣🤣🤣

Dolly’s rock hard, (and possibly absolutely stupid) she will go out in all weathers but unfortunately I have to go with her because she simply will not walk with anyone else🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙄

Your wife's not stupid then is she ... only Daddy can take Dolly for a walk!

Yes Mel, she will simply NOT walk with anyone else, not even the foster carer that had her in rescue (we since asked him to try) the front paws just dig in like a bulldozer blade and she ain’t going, unless it’s me on the other end of the lead🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️😁

I think your Mrs has been training her when you're at work to only 'love' Daddy walkies! :giggle:

I'm sure she will. They never forget places or people
it always amazed me how our old Spaniel always knew his way from our parking spot to town, shortly after we had parked up. He would go through the short tunnel in the old wall of Montreuil sur Mer to get to the town before we were anywhere near it and he would be waiting the other side.

they certainly have better memories than we may give them credit for.

Gee i miss him

Ela’s “freedom “ on the Greek beach may not be all that attractive. Free to roam to scrounge the next meal unless a good hearted Tam comes along, no cosy shelter with lots of blankets to keep her warm, lots of cuddles whenever she wants and a big softie to pander to all her needs and wants😃. Freedom is perfect in theory but in practice it may have its drawbacks .

Not saying you are wrong but that is a very human view. She might jump out of Moby and say "Great holiday Tam, thanks for dropping me home, I've missed my mates"
Human psychology is difficult, animal is more guess work, instincts have a big say.

It's another sad day for Mr wallet. That's the job done and we're back on the road but €400 lighter . Once again lol it cost more than I had guessed. €164 for the part so I had guessed maybe €300 all in but nope . So in just 7 days I've spent €1000 on repairs .

Not a good week

Colder today too , it's cloudy and overcast with rain forecast later. Only 14° .
Just filled up with diesel and now at lidl to stock up . Then going to head south a bit after lunch and a doggy walk .

Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh

Bloody van. It's always always a weekend things go wrong , alternator last Sunday and now rear handbrake shoes.

OK in fairness this was a job I planned to have done because the garage who repaired the leaking hub seal wheel bearing for its mot put new brake shoes on the n/s but didn't fit them on the o/s rear. I have the shoes with me.

There's always been a bit of a rumble on this van from the rear but the engine is so bloody noisy it's hard to pinpoint what the noise was. I figured it could be the propshaft bearing , the rear diff being a bit worn , the o/s wheel bearing perhaps on its way out or indeed the shoes inside the drum scuffing. But as that side was all fine at mot in August I figured it was something I'd get looked at in Turkey. The whole rear hub has to come off to remove the drum on this and it's a 63mm socket and a 6 foot bar required to do it. ... neither of which I posses. A few days ago the noise did seem a little louder but I had other things more pressing to deal with. This morning however there's been a few bangs and a bit grinding coming from there.

This van is like the fiat's etc it has pads fir the main service brake and shoes for the parking handbrake. There's no hydraulics inside the drum its all mechanical. So I expect either a spring has broken or come off and the shoe has moved. It's a bit of a nightmare as it's obviously loose enough to jam the wheel.. if you rotate it forward it goes free enough till you then try to turn it backwards at which point it Jams.... and the Same the other way.

No garages open here on a Saturday everything closed till Monday. Its one thing I dislike about Europe. At least in the UK you have the likes of kwik fit , national tyres etc all open on weekends .

So I have no option really other than to just Hope it doesn't jam completely between here and the ferry and on the other side till I try and get to a garage on Monday.

To change my ferry at this late would cost me and I'd still have to find a garage here on Monday so it wouldn't be any quicker.

Is it safe ? Well no its bloody not , I still have brakes etc because it's the handbrake that's faulty. But I'm obviously worried incase it really Jams while driving and locks up the wheel.

Bloody nightmare

If not adjusted AT THE DRUMS the shoe wear means that when applied, the end of the shoe digs in and bangs.
Handbrake cable adjustment to pass the MOT means the drums are left.
That is my experience
Stating the bleeding obvious probably 🙄
