MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Yeah but mine has a tap symbol where its off aswell.
That’s strange does that mean as soon as you select a heat source, gas/electric then the hot water is on? But you have to make sure the rotary switch is on zero if you don’t want hot water?

Not sure but that's what it looks like .

I need to check ours now you’ve got me thinking Tam, I’m pretty sure ours isn’t like that although I suppose they’re thinking along the lines of” If you select a heat source you must want either heating or hot water”

I think you have done the right thing in buying the new van
You knew it was going to have problems as it hadn’t been used for years
Even once you fix all the obvious problems there will be new ones surfacing
Nothing you can’t work out & fix , one problem at a time ,remember those who dare win 👍 , stop overthinking things ,the quicker you’re back at Just smiffy the better he is has a calming effect on ya 😊

Is the under seat heating not something like this ?

No it definitely has an alde heat exchanger between the front seats . The webasto thing is under the bonnet. I'll post pics of it later

funflair

Martin that number plate light you mentioned , Did you find replacements anywhere as mine are completely rusted , I doubt one of them has worked In a long time.

I spoke to oppie oils last week about the headlamps and they can get them for me next day so I'll get those when back at Just smiffy but I'll need new number plate lights too I think .

I got new ones off eBay fitted straight on

This looks very much like the ones I fitted, they are a bugger to keep the water out of though. https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-98389-...sh-with-clear-lens-hella-2ka-001-378-041.aspx

There will most likely be cheaper on Amazon or the likes but I won't buy from Amazon

Tam, the alde control panel, if all sliders are down and dial on 0 it should stop the boiler. That little chrome/black tap you found is the off for the engine hot water flow to the rads under seats, you may find theres a booster fan that goes with that bit. The webasto is possibly the pump for the engine heating option when you have the alde going. The heat transfer works both ways on yours by sounds of it.

I’m afraid that’s beyond my capability I’m not very techno

Fridge isn't working properly either. It ignites on gas no problem and runs on it but it isn't getting cold at all ... my food is all going to go off 😪

If you turn it up it gets warmer rather than colder
Tam check the flue as it might be blocked or needs cleaning.

Does it get cold as you drive? or on 240v if you have tried that, could just need the burner clearing of all the crap that falls down the chimney.

When the boiler is on you get hot water, hotter and quicker without the radiators on of course, the dial is the thermostat for the heating system only so doesn't directly affect the water temperature, the right hand slider is for the pump so at the bottom the pump is off but you get hot water, the next one up is the pump on but responding to the thermostat set point so it will turn on and off to regulate the heating (you still have hot water) the top position is the pump running continuously with the boiler modulating the glycol temperature to get the correct heating temperature as per the thermostat. in this position the hot tap water temperature is relative to the boiler and heating circuit temperature which could be off, this continuous setting is supposed to give the most even heat profile without peaks and troughs BUT unreliable hot water.

When you want to warm the van as you drive in the winter you need the valve on the heat exchanger open, gas off on the boiler, the pump up the first click and the thermostat set as desired, if you use the top pump slider setting when driving it won't respond to the thermostat so will just keep circulating water through the heat exchanger and it might get too warm.

Haven't checked it yet when driving.. going to check that out today aswell . When I first picked it up it wouldn't light but noticed a load of crap in the burner gave it a blow and it lit. Has been lighting since but suspect the flu has never been cleaned . Fingers crossed that works.

Might be worth cleaning the burner airways as well, could be some spiders in there.

Thanks for that. Once I've made sure the water tank leak is fixed today and put some water in I'll see if it heats up some water for me when I'm driving to my next spot and I can have a shower.
