Maybe the part numbers for Police vehicles had different part numbers as they were charged at a lower rate than the normal public ones.
Just a thought.

My brother worked in an Austin Rover garage about 40 years ago, they used to look after some Police cars and their cars always seemed a bit quicker despite being full of crap (a bit like Just Smiffy's shed) he soon found that a lot of the engine part numbers were different for Police vehicles to standard. I can't see how you can have two different things with the same part number.
Exactly .. one part number =one part

But I'm also fairly confident that skf would not like their reputation damaged by making substandard parts to sell to not main dealers.

This bearing is apparently also used on a Renault...and most likely many other vehicles.

All the gear, and no idea!
Quite a while ago it was said/rumoured that HD blueprinted their police Harley engines for better tolerances (as much as you can with an air cooled motor), I can’t find anything on the matter but I did have a 2003 HD Police Roadking and it was different in every way to a standard one but everything looked the same🤷‍♂️

I've had a couple of ex Police cars ...volvo t5 estate and mondeo. I'd also heard rumours about them being super tuned etc but the mechanic I spoke to in the police workshops while he was giving me a service history printout insisted that was just an old wives tale .. ..said they were the same as every other one said if they could get super tuned vehicles they'd just buy cars that were ordinary and have them tuned . And it does make sense if you think about it.

No point having Peugeot estates and big bmws if they could just tune the Peugeot to be as quick

Not tuned bog standard just regular servicing and to be honest very basic, we had an SDI Rover that had rattles all over it, the mechanics found bolts loose in the exhaust, in the doors and sills and a chalk message * have you found them all yet?* Chalked inside a door! Not bought for performance bought for how much to buy and run.

reminds me of when I had my rover P5b going to the dealer for parts anything used on the Triumphs with some part number was always cheaper¿

Bearings have their part No on the inner race when working we strip down a machine (compressor or vac pump or what ever) and get the part number off the inner race and get from local supplier cheaper and quicker delivery.

MoHo since March 2018.
Any blueprinted engine should give greater performance than a non blueprinted one as tolerances will be much tighter. It costs money to have an engine blueprinted though which is why normal production tolerances are slacker.

You would normally modify intake and exhaust to get the most from a blueprinted engine.

Had an '1100' escort ex fife police, every time it needed a new part had to remove it and take it to the motor factor as not part number stated, it also went like the proverbial, was a right little girl racer till i hit my 50s
Les totally different part numbers.
