MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Poor caravan, what a state.
Yes my advice folks is if you get to a point when you really think you're not going to use your motorhome sell it. Don't leave it lying about like this because I guarantee he never paid near what this would have been worth .

He buys loads of caravans/motorhomes in poor condition then, Has he bought it dirt cheap because there’s loads wrong with it?
I would still be very wary, this motorhome has had years of being sat around engine not started. It goes against everything Lenny HB advises
Any service history for the engine?
Cambelt ever changed?

There’s so much to check on a van that’s hardly been used.

I wouldn’t get too excited just yet you did that with the last one that Al n Val and westy viewed.

Have you agreed a price Tam or is it open to negotiation?
It's not in poor condition paul that caravan will clean up like new .

The camper isn't In poor condition either , yes the sitting around won't have done it any favours but at least it was inside so that will have helped . I believe its been serviced at each mot . So probably nothing from 2013 to 2021 but then it was apparently serviced on October last year. No record of a cambelt but I expected that. It will be a point of negotiation. He knows and accepts it needs a cambelt .

It's probably going to be due gas bottles too unless like this van they have 15 year ones and we're fitted in the last couple of years before he stopped using it.

It's a very different beast from the one Al and ade viewed but I will be giving it a good check over. Mechanical side is my biggest concern as I doubt it was even started during its long sleep. But its not the first vehicle to have sat around a long time . So we will see.

Joking aside Gareth the seller thinks he's my best friend lol he was texting back and forth till well after 11pm last night . I thought he was about my age lol. But from his WhatsApp photo with his family he looks about 30. But his story about his son being unwell is confirmed as he's in the photo and you can see it.

But anyway he does seem a genuine guy and 99% of what he's said does match up with what can be seen online with the van so that's something.

He was showing me his latest acquirement that he's also bought from an elderly owner who was unwell but wouldn't sell it for years and this is the result. View attachment 927733View attachment 927734View attachment 927735

He says he buys a lot of caravans like this

Ask him if he needs someone to fettle them? Might be a job for you there 👍😂

It just needs some jennychem caravan cleaner and it’ll be like new 👍😁

Another hesitation I have with buying the other van is I same to have an occasional problem with blu chewing

When I first got her she did this to the table
20240725_114303_copy_1612x1209.jpg

For which she got a smack on the nose and told off.

A few weeks later she did this ....to the arm of the sofa
20240725_114332_copy_1209x1612.jpg

And then nothing.. I put it down to her teething and she's had chew toys the whole time .

And then last week she chewed a bit on the other corner of the table ... which she chewed more of today .
20240725_114313_copy_1209x1612.jpg

And she's had a go at the arm on the passenger seat recently too
20240725_114348_copy_1209x1612.jpg

Each time has been when we are driving and obviously because she's In the back I've not seen her when she's actually done it. Each time she's been shown the damage given a smack on the nose and told no.

None of the other 3 have ever destroyed anything ☹️ and I'm not sure how to get it through to her that it's not on .

The front seat arm isn't too bad, it's not that noticeable. The sofa arm is the worst because I'm not sure how I can sort that . The table top isn't a big hassle as it was temporary, just the top of an old nest of tables in mums loft . I planned to put a slightly bigger one on and I'll just buy a cheap wood table top off gumtree .

My concern is if I dont stop her from doing it and I buy the new van she could feckin ruin it.

She's been told of she chews anything again she'll find herself on gumtree for a swap for a video camera lol.

Joking aside how do I stop her chewing.

I bought an old motorhome that had been laid up for a couple of years, the hand brake had been on and it had distorted the drums and l had to have them skimmed.....
Aye I won't know till I see it how much harm being Laid up has done to it.

It's due an mot in October but I've already mentioned that too him and he'd said he had no concerns mot ING it so I will most likely negotiate that in to the deal.

I've enough with having to mot this one when I get back

Some of the registered owners might be dealers. - I've never checked history - just bought.
My current vehicles I didn't even test drive

It looks a great van Tam

Oh Gnaw🤣🇪🇸🤣

Possibly a Muzzle 😷

A muzzle isn't a bad idea - if you can get her to wear one without thinking she's being punished.

Or just accept, like many dog owners, your home won't be pristine.
Which one chewed your mum's kitchen door?

There are chemicals to dissuade but I'm not sure of their effectiveness, or how you'd know where to spray.

Ah the kitchen door wasn't chewed that was jade ...she scratched it to death because she'd obviously been used to sleeping with me and when I took her back to mums that first year knowing how house proud my mum was and her being in hospital I'd tried to make jade sleep in her bed in the kitchen . She didn't like it and scratched the door to get out.

So that was that lol she was in the bedroom with me after that.

And I think milo chewed the corner of his bed cushion once . But generally they haven't been destructive.

This big bugger though has done it a few times now. I've never liked muzzles and would like to avoid them but I have threatened her with it before due to the eating things outside when we're walking. So I'm not ruling that out

Neither have I
Kerry came with one, being a greyhound.
I never really had to use it, but she was always a bit excited when I did put it on - I think she thought she was going racing.
As long as they have time to get used to the idea, I don't think they're cruel.

Re the chewing I did use a spray chew deterrent which seemed to work a bit so might be worth a try. I think its a stage they go through with teething plus boredom..

We found the Pipette treatment for ticks good but I tend to redo them just before the 4 weeks as they definitely become less effective. I would suggest also getting a set of the twist off tick removers. They are really cheap and much easier and more effective than tweezers. I also keep a bottle of TCP handy to dab on wounds and sore bits as it works really well.

Hope this helps….

Yes blu seems to get bored very easily compared to the others she sleeps far less and she whines. I'm normally playing with her or practicing a few tricks when we're parked up but when driving I obviously can't amuse her ...

The last treatment we got I got done at the vet and it lasts 3 months. I think for the 4 dogs it was around €60 . I'd planned to get the vet yesterday to do the same as the ones you can buy online etc only last 4 weeks . Which is an expensive way to do it with 4 dogs .

I had a tick tool and I lent it to the Belgians in Turkey and they still had it when we parted company... so I've had to use tweezers for now. But yes they're only £3/4 on ebay so I'll be getting another set .

Right we're off to Luxembourg
If you need a peaceful overnight stop Tam, just in German speaking part of Belgium , close to north Luxembourg border is this place, very quiet and isolated, reasonable priced food and drinks ( German food is shocking so don’t expect gourmet lol)
And bordering on massive Forrest for dog walks and huge parking 👍

Muzzle when travel 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes it might well come to that . If she chews anything else after the telling off she got today then it'll be a muzzle when back in UK.
It isn’t nice but beats a travel box , that kind of damage is wholly unacceptable , another solution could be to clip her on a short lead harness and travels next to you at all times?

Do you have room for a crate?
To restrain her whilst driving.

Personally, I'd sit her down to give her a stern talking to:
"If you chew, I'll trade you in for a newer model"
communicating-with-dog-min-1024x683.jpg

Make a deal
dog-commands-scaled.jpeg
She's had the stern talking to earlier and knows she's in the doghouse lol. She's been trying to get around me by tapping me with the paw then rolling on her back but she's been told I'm not happy with her today. I'll give in after a few hours lol .

No idea what breed she's crossed with but I think she needs a bit more stimulation than the others . They're happy to sleep a lot. She's very restless . Always looking for mischief. Might just be the age but will see . Can't have her chewing everything though.

I've no room for a crate but I didn't like them when I tried it with jade at first. They're generally all very good . Hopefully it's a passing phase . I've ordered some of that spray stuff. It'll arrive at uncle lennys about the same time I do

Can't do that though as the other 3 already have all their travel spots and she's bottom of the line. I can't move the others out of spots they've picked and been comfortable in for at least 3 years . Jade has had the front seat for nearly 7 years lol .. there's no moving her.
If I carry a human passenger they're either in the back or she's on their knee lol. Wissel can testify to that lol. She was on his knee most of the drive from Norfolk to Scotland 🤣🤣🤣

Ela is in the passenger footwell and milo on the floor between cab seats in his bed blu goes between both sofas currently.

But if I buy that new van she'll be going in a bed on the floor under the bar table. Harnessed if need be
