Inghilterra - it’s moved south a bit.Seems you still have an address in Dunfermline
Try to look at it from a different prospective Tam, I had my lorry in the DAF garage for 8 working days to bleed some air out of the system, a 15 minute job, now a crane issue and we are on day 10 so far, here in the UK even the smallest problem takes weeks nowadays, I would say that you have been amazingly lucky to have such a super fast turnaroundWell what a feckin day it has been. So yeah prewarn I'm in a grumpy mood
The garage ....well it all started so well but I ended up seriously annoyed with them.
He told me yesterday to bring the van there for 9.30 /10 am as the part would arrive at 10 and they would get straight on the job . So i did which meant I was sat in reception with the dogs around 9.45. The alternator turned up just after 10am , they put the van on the ramp at 10.35 so I figured it would be ready an hour or so later . 12.30 pm and still no word at which point my phone was out of charge , Ricardo went out somewhere around 12.50 and never returned , no one came to tell me anything until 13.15 then Marco came to reception with his piece box in his hand and said 15 minutes van will be ready , so again I waited, dogs very bored by this time , I was starving having only had cereal at 07.45 , and I needed the toilet.... kept waiting and waiting , 2.45 it finally came off the ramp and he parked it outside ... then it took till 15.20 before the office girl finally took the payment so I could leave. I don't think he'd even started the van till after he'd had his lunch so probably around 2pm ... and I'd been sat there all that time waiting . If they'd said I could have been away with the dogs somewhere and I could have eaten etc ... so the whole day wasted sat on a very uncomfortable chair in a freezing cold waiting room .
The bill was still the Same which is just aswell because I'd have created hell had it been more than quoted.
It's 2 bloody bolts and incredibly easy to access from underneath. I think he actually spent maybe 45 minutes top changing the bloody thing.
So then I needed to grab some shopping from lidl and then find somewhere to park up. Once again the first 3 options were crap so I'm about an hour down the coast. Finally making some food
I agree with this 100%.I think they did you proud Tam, they fitted you in instantly amonst all the other jobs they were doing.
You are just frustrated you couldn't get on you way sooner. If you look back on it not many garages would sorted you out at such short notice.
They will still be there on the way back or another trip.Yep I know that they slotted me in etc and I appreciate that. I just wish they'd thought to say that it wouldn't be ready for a while and then I could have gone done something and I could have eaten , 3 dogs five hours lying/sitting on a cold tiled floor in a reception with a door that kept blowing open etc . . Chairs weren't comfy either.
Overall yeah it's good that it's sorted and hopefully problem all solved ...its just the lack of thought and the time wasted that is annoying. He did after all say last night to come at 9.30 and it would be done straight away.
Anyway I've lost 2 days now and I've only 4 days left in Italy so I will be most likely forgetting about Rome and naples and probably pompei. I may have to just suck it up and use the toll road tomorrow to naples to get a few miles covered and then see where I'm at. I need to reconnect my b2b and rewire my reverse camera in tomorrow morning before I leave here but that should only take 30 minutes or so. Naples is about 3 hours via toll road according to Google
We saw both Herculameum and Pompei and to us Herculaneum was far better. Less tourists and with a hand held audio device could feel you were really there. So much to seeTam, don’t miss Pompei, it’s well worth it. I would skip Napoli fro Pompeii. From Pompeii to Bari it’s a days drive. I did mention to you the coats it’s best on toll roads if you want to get anywhere in reasonable time.
I heard from someone today though that pompei isn't possible with dogs . So that puts me off a bit.Tam, don’t miss Pompei, it’s well worth it. I would skip Napoli fro Pompeii. From Pompeii to Bari it’s a days drive. I did mention to you the coats it’s best on toll roads if you want to get anywhere in reasonable time.
2nd PompeiiTam, don’t miss Pompei, it’s well worth it. I would skip Napoli fro Pompeii. From Pompeii to Bari it’s a days drive. I did mention to you the coats it’s best on toll roads if you want to get anywhere in reasonable time.
Well I think so lol. I'll let you know tomorrow.Anyway…. I take it that the new alternator has fixed the problem….
As others have said, Herculeneum a better choice. You cannot take 3 dogs into either site, (they have to be small and carried). Pompei too large for a good look around leaving them in MH.I will be most likely forgetting about Rome and naples and probably pompei.
Yeah that's what I heard today , so ela and jade wouldn't be allowed in and I can't carry 3 dogs anyway. So I decided to not bother with pompei. It's a shame as I'd have liked to see these places including around Rome etc but I take the dogs everywhere with me. If they can't go then I don't go .2nd Pompeii

Aye but my ferry is booked and paid for. So I need to be in bari Saturday nightItalian for mañana
You're not yet into the Mediterranean pace of life...
Herculameum is far better than Pompei.Tam, don’t miss Pompei, it’s well worth it.
My thoughts entirely, and the reason I got a motorhome in the first place, grew up with dogs, wanted a dog/dogs as an adult, quickly realised I didn't want to leave them and jet off, so no flights for the last 14 years, now have a 6 month old pup (after being dogless in April) so many years of no flying and lots of motorhoming ahead!! I'm happy with the compromises too.Yeah that's what I heard today , so ela and jade wouldn't be allowed in and I can't carry 3 dogs anyway. So I decided to not bother with pompei. It's a shame as I'd have liked to see these places including around Rome etc but I take the dogs everywhere with me. If they can't go then I don't go .
