MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Can't understand all the complaints really , you have wheels, why not just come back, nothing says you have to stay there.
I've gotta spend 3 months in the UK as it is Charlie.. and apart from a few funsters I'll be visiting I've no idea where I'm going to stay for those 3 months , so I'm not coming back earlier.

If I hadn't booked and paid for my ferry from Greece to Italy already I'd possibly have left Greece a bit earlier.

But to be honest overall its still better being here, I'm just sounding off because I'm feckin hot and uncomfortable. In hindsight I should have just stayed at elea for another week ...I just felt after 2 weeks it was time to move. But it wasn't too busy , we had the beach the sea and the river which was a blessing.

I'm just not used to travelling at this time of year when it's so hot and so busy. And keeping 4 dogs under control when there's loads of folk about isn't as easy as you'd think.

Just cause you English folk never complain about anything and just suffer in silence...I'm Scottish we like to vent 😉

You should try it . 😁

I don't in any way think it's easy to keep 4 dogs under control, I couldn't manage one that's why I haven't got any.
As to complaining , I'm as bad as any one, but if I was in your situation with no tyes and the means to get about, if I didn't like somewhere I would just move to somewhere I did like .

Well it's costing me 200 quid to visit this island and it's only really the 2nd day so too early to write it off yet. I was in 2 minds whether to do it or not but a few folk had said it was worth the trip.. so I'm giving it a go. I'm hoping I'll find a couple of spots that aren't so popular with tourists. I thought this beach behind airport would be quiet due to the noise etc but its very very busy. . Even now at 6.30pm the carpark is chocked full

There are mad folk who love aeroplanes ✈️.

I know that over staying your welcome in one spot has been debated recently on the Morecambe thread but over there where there doesn't seem to be much of an issue (I'm meaning at Elea beach) I would just stay put until you feel like moving. Looks a lovely little spot especially with the doggos.

Yes in hindsight I should have stayed there another week as the dogs loved it. Fresh water river was very handy. Now I've to carry a big bottle of water and a dog bowl to the beach aswell as our other stuff lol.

No one bothers at elea .. lots of locals camp there too.

But I'm here noo... Will see what the rest of the island has to offer.

Islands are the worst in a motorhome in season, usually only one road round so difficult to hide n park n people just don’t seem to want you parked where they are. Mainland every time.

I do have to say that so far the only thing the island has that the mainland doesn't is hundreds of tourists . You wouldn't know you were on an island to be honest, the views are the same , the towns are much the same. . Few more boats going around and scooters ,quads and hire cars but otherwise.

I'd only ever been to Greek Islands before when I done package holidays ...but after touring the mainland several times I think it has more to offer. The beach I was on today was OK...clean and sandy but not as nice as some I've been on before.

Ach well its another place to tick off my been to list I suppose.

Have to say guys I'm not impressed with kefalonia so far .. beaches aren't great but are still mobbed with tourists, parkups are few and far between and what there is isn't great. Lot of rubbish about. Apart from the flowers it's not pretty so far either . I've followed the coast all the way from poros and I'm now at a spot at the end of the airport runway as its the first place I've been able to park . Its dull , cloudy , odd spits of rain but 35 feckin degrees and finding somewhere to take the dogs to the water is proving very difficult. Can only hope it gets better further round but I'm not confident. With the sheer amount of hire cars I can see every bit of beach being the Same.

I think it was a bad idea .. its holiday season after all.

This is why I prefer winter travel . I'm too hot the dogs are too hot ,the camper is way to hot. The ground burns your feet so the only place we can go when it's like this is in the water. But finding a bit away from people is difficult.

And now I've got feckin planes to listen to
You need to make your way to the peninsula of lixouri much quieter , you missed some fab quiet coves just about 5 miles south of Poros , the bit between the airport and Argostoli has some fabulous beaches but will be busy unless early morning or evenings, it’s Greece and it is summer so obviously it will be busy, however there are so many places on the island where you hardly see a soul, just explore , you have only seen a tiny bit of the island👍

Iceland is nice this time of year, you do however need deep pockets full of 50 pounds notes as cheap it is not😇😆

I looked for those coves but never saw any ....none that you could park at anyway... and the park4night spots I did go to weren't great. Lots of seaweed and rubbish ...or jammed with tourists.

But will see how it goes. This beach did for today and will stay here tonight bit move on in morning after a quick dip and a shower hopefully before the tourists arrive.

Pics of the day , ela seemed to enjoy just standing chin deep in the water and watching the patterns the sun made through it on to the sand underneath... she spent nearly 2 hours just doing that. Happy and content her tail wagging the whole time. Milo and blu were doing the usual stick fetching and then milo had a sleep on the towel , jade was very impressive today she was swimming lots and was out quite far swimming along beside me , sadly no pics of her doing it as obviously didn't have phone in the water ...which is a shame ... but she makes me so happy that she's gained the confidence and is enjoying it . Blu was mostly good but did go running along the beach to sunbathers on 3 different occasions.. after being warned the first 2 times she spent the rest of the time on the lead attached to me ..... and she just whined the whole time. But she's gonna learn or I'm going to strangle her ...whichever comes first.

It's meant to be a little cooler tomorrow, but jeeso the night temperatures for next week look scary . It's always warmer than the temps given inside the van .

I've swept the van out 3 times already since getting back from the beach and the floor is covered in sand again ... it just seems to keep coming out of blu ... and she's been brushed.. they all have.

That’s the problem with hidden coves lol, hard to find😇😆, I can assure you they are there, a few miles out of Poros you followed the sea on a low road right next to it, fairly straight for a while with weird little round rocks protruding from the sea, few miles past that there is a little hardcore parking lot , size of a football pitch, just a bit down from the road, in the far right hand corner in the back is a little white fence, step over it and a path is cut out in the cliffs , staircase brings you down to the most amazing cove, tiny sandy area, pebbles going into the sea, Cristal clear water , plenty of these about, some require some hiking. Just when you turn onto the road leading to the peninsula of lixouri on the narrow bit, the coast to your right has some fab hidden coves too👍

If you haven’t already, try the free stop at Kryoneri, Nostros beach bar(p4n) on the way back. Lovely stop and never had Pulpo better.

She’s fishing… :reel:
No fish there though... she was fishing at elea in the river but today it seemed to be the light hitting the sand she was hypnotised by.

Cute to watch though she was in there the whole time doing that.

But a true fisherman/woman can stand there all day long waiting for that one fish….😆😂

Trouble with the sand is the dog goes in the sea, salt water is sticky when semi-dry and the sand they pick up stays in the coat no matter how much you brush!
Fresh water is far better!
Yes they really enjoyed the river... as did I. Normally rivers are full of plants or grass weeds etc and I don't like it , I like to be able to see the bottom lol. And make sure there's no critters lurking to bite my toes. But not many places with the rivers so we just gotta make do . The other 3 don't seem to be so bad with the sand but blu's coat is thicker. Surprisingly she dries quicker than the other 3 but brings half the beach in with her everytime. Another reason I couldn't have a new posh van , the mess would drive me insane.

I imagine it probably stinks in here too lol ,but thankfully I'm nose blind to it 🤣🤣

The joys of being a mutt daddy

How's this for sods law ...it was so hot last night for the first time ever we went to bed with the side windows still open and the blinds closed ... and of course all the skylights open. Got woken up at 2.40am with the wind flapping all my skylights and windows. Had to get outta bed and close them. Never had any wind for weeks . The one time I leave windies open...bamm

Still windy this morning but I'm greatful for it as its keeping it a bit cooler . Was going to go for a paddle, swim but think we'll go for a wee walk instead before moving on .
