Anything to milk the tourist lol. There's lots of Turkish hamsters here there are burrows everywhere which is driving ela crazy and she's digging her own burrows trying to catch them lol. ..also spotted a fox earlier. Love the Landys. What a great selection. I couldn’t do what you are doing. Too many dogs would break my heart. It’s such a shame. The pics though are stunning. Thank you.
 
Well 8am here it's 3° and snowing lol. Hence no balloons today. There's an Instagram page for cappadocia that let's you know if the balloons will fly each day or not. Bit annoying as I want some pics of the gorge and balloons. I need a supermarket for supplies and more dog food so I might just go do that today and look at one of the other valleys rather than just spend the day hibernating.
 
I remember watching UTube videos of the balloons there. Would be fantastic to see it happen and make great photos. 👍

Did the balloon ride last year, it is fantastic, even if it does mean getting up at 4.00am!!!!

Well the weather has been dreadful today ...freezing , snow, sleet and rain ... stopped for maybe an hour around lunchtime .

Spent the morning going round 5 different supermarkets and a vets to get dog food ... had no luck in the supermarkets and the vet was a joke , £43 for a 10kg bag of dog food a name I'd never heard of so that got told to sod off. Eventually stumbled across a cash n carry and I just blagged it and got 15kg for 700tl . It was easy to get on the coast but seems harder inland ...yet cat food can be found anywhere. Strange bloody people .

So dog food sorted , bit of shopping for me then we had a wee wander around uchisar... more rock caves and uchisar Castle.

Had a look at a few other parking spots but none were as good as the one I had yesterday so we came back here. The balloons are flying tomorrow according to the website so it's the best place to be . Up at 6 am so I can catch them doing the sunrise tours. I've no desire to go in one ...not keen on anything smaller than a twin engined passenger plane but I was looking at the prices €89 for a one hour flight with 19 other people crammed in a basket .....jees that sounds like hell if I'm honest. But I'm hoping for some nice pics . Cold night again tonight it's 1° and there's 4 couples here in tents tonight the crazy buggers. It's still snowing over the town of uchisar I can see it out the window but seems dry here at the minute.

Yes and it's all white out there just now too . Not sure if it will still be in the morning but would also make some good photos

I would definitely be interested in a large format photo book of your highlights (dogs can be included😁) and someone on here might know a cheap self publishing method. It seems a pity to waste your obvious talent. I don’t know how many prints would be needs to make it viable but, again, someone might.

I've downloaded a few photos as they are spectacular
Polarsteps lets you create a book but maybe something only the account holder can do ?
 
What an amazing country. I have never seen anything like it. I just love it. Anyway, I don't have to go there now I have seen the pictures:giggle:(y)(who was that guy who used to say that) found it, it was Karl Pilkington "An Idiot Abroad"

Tam the further inland you go and to the east the colder it will be at this time of year as you have already started to discover.

i mentioned a while back that in the far east mountainous area of turkey february time its as cold as norther norway.

love the photos and the commentry , good to read and follow particularly as we are having to stay in the UK for a while while wifes health is getting sorted.
 
Figaro I hesitate to pinch Tam’s photos but, if he doesn’t mind, I will ask my photographically accomplished sister to print the ones I like best and make a “book” for me. Strangely (or not) I prefer the amazing views with the dogs in them, and, whilst I was definitely in the “don’t adopt another dog!” camp the four are much better than the three!

I was just thinking I bet some of the motorhome mags would buy that Instagram shot [if it was of a high enough resolution]...
Indeed you could probably edit this thread into a paid publishable travel article 🤔.

And yet I still only have just over 500 followers on Instagram and some accounts have 100k +
Not sure what I'm doing wrong with it.

Doesn't matter but the number of followers an account has opens opportunities for advertising etc .

To be honest though I'd just like a few more likes and comments on the pics I post. I sometimes feel what's the point putting them on there if no one looks at them .

Hence why there's businesses selling followers..

I'd be OK with 500 genuine followers who really appreciate my pictures rather than chasing clicks.

Who in the van community has 100k followers? Is it cross fed from a YouTube business?

I have 536 followers but I very rarely get more than 30 likes on any post 🤷‍♂️.

It's weird how Instagram works though and I can't figure it out.
