MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Doesn't need to be glamorous, my mums driveway wasn't glamorous either.

And I never thought about agricultural work actually ...that's an idea.

So yeah any tips are most welcome.
Brighton used to be a bit of a van dwellers haven with little community park ups in the country park near me but it's not like that anymore and the locations that are actually in Brighton are not so great now. We have a couple that are ok but the main thing is to move about. My friend spends more time in Hastings now as it's a lot easier. Anyway if you end up over that way just shout and we'll give any info we can and can do water and waste at ours.

The first time we went loved it, and said lovely but expensive, 😉 three years later we went again 😲 it was still expensive........... but just having the experience of a lifetime swimming with a 20' whale shark 👍 changed our minds 😁 after all it's only money. 🤔

Thinking about it maybe another visit before they disappear. :Eeek:
😎 Bob.
was fortunate enough to have a Large turtle appear from the depths to within a few meters of me while snorkelling , I nearly choked when my jaw dropped open,
also a manta ray close enough to see it clearly waving its wings and turn away from me.
it is a stuning place and would not have missed it for the world. but i guess its a bit like being on a cruise ship but never getting off to visit shore ( not that i have been on a cruise ). confined to a hotel all be it a whole small island.

its way out of my price bracket now.

Good idea working on farms Tam. I was thinking of you doing that. I have a farmer down the road who has a caravan on his land where his labourer lives when he is working for him. You could park up your van and even better have your dogs with you all day as they are so good with livestock.

Aye I'd not mind doing that in the summer months . I'm open to various types of work. It's just finding the work I'm not sure how to do. Same with the event work. Not sure where its advertised or how you apply etc.

theres a company called Sword security here in South Wales that does most of the big events locally. they provide marshalls and helpers; grandson was registered with them and did mostly stuff like concerts and sports events. they also supplied staff for Glastonbury a few times. dont know if they still do.
maybe a place to start searching for event work is with security companies.

Always pickers and such wanted down here in Cornwall and plenty of places to park on their land…

But there’s always my drive available…👍🏼😎

Get yourself a woman Tam working out of her van and who's into dogs and loves travelling about the place and doesn't mind emptying a cassette or 2 and that's you sorted big man! Lol
Advertise for one online somewhere! I've met some right fecking edjits on the road over the years, I met a gorgeous single English girl travelling on her own a few weeks back in Sidi Kaouki mad as a brush she was, doing online blogging about lifestyle coaching etc, tried to tell me I needed lifestyle coaching I said I'm a wee bit ahead of you there love, there's nothing you could teach me about life! (she's obviously not too good of a judge of character) lol but someone was paying her for it so they are out there 😂

I thought about advertising for a personal travelling companion, I’d look forward to vetting them on a trial basis before the trip…😎😉

Good to know lol...I was thinking of paying you a visit when back in UK, but I've a few stops to do and I'll need to do mot on my van when I get back too. And a few other jobs on it. But I've not been to Cornwall since 1999

No problem Tam, always welcome… plenty off space on the drive and tools in the shed for jobs, plus I do have a friendly motorhome garage who does mot’s…👍🏼

The amount of times I get told "oh I'd love to do that you're so lucky" and when I say why don't you I get every excuse you've heard of. I've offered people the opportunity to come travelling with me and told them they only need to chip in a little towards their extra food/drink as everything else is already paid for ... and still it never happens. People say they'd love to do what I do but they lack the courage to just go for it. Everyone is brainwashed to be always working and saving up for a house etc ... I was seeing someone for 2 months when I was back home but that was their goal ...work work work to save up to buy their own house etc.. then when mum got sick they couldn't handle it and took off.

It's not easy dating these days.. I reckon you have to find the person before you start living in a van and travelling as its not easy once you're already doing it. And I'm complicated ....so that narrows the field even more.

It feels like I'm faced with a choice , either be single forever or give up travelling etc for now and comform to society while trying to find a match. Which I've no guarantee of finding anyway. It's a shit situation

I’m quite happy being on my own except when travelling, it’s just nice to be able to say to someone sitting next to you “look at that”… and like you I don’t like going to restaurants on my own, bars are ok but not restaurants, daytime is ok but evenings is dull…

I’ve resigned myself to fate now, but I can’t complain as every time I’ve been away I manage to get some company along the way…😊

Thanks again for the brilliant pics, Tam. 👍
Them Romans was clever barstewards, eh?
Went to see a working watermill at Boot in the Lake District many years ago and I was fascinated by the technology in use. I said as much to the caretaker and he reckoned that it was all passed down from the Romans.

Aye they led the way with many things , and they fairly got around too. Weird though as modern day Italy is pretty shot in comparison 🤣🤣

I love being in the van Tam, but also love going home. I am really a home bird and love my home. I think most of us are like that to be fair. You will meet someone one day, don't give up. It will happen when you least expect it and who knows you may even go back to bricks and mortar for that certain someone.

Cornwall is always looking for labourers be it for daffodil picking, cauliflowers etc. even grapes.

Worth a look

Carol

I don't miss them at all. I am always on here and get my alerts and notifications. I struggled today as I had a lot of work to do on Bankline and I was soooo tempted to stop work and read the comments. I mean why should I worry about paying contractors when stuff is going on here:ROFLMAO:(y)

Tam...Down South Sussex/Surrey/Kent is best for weather in the UK, just like Ian did you will probably find some great places to park the van up month on month at a cheaper rate.
Then as for work...Gatwick Airport is where I would look, there are loads of jobs I bet, catering drivers to take food out to the aircraft (some need class 2 hgv),but baggage handlers, ramps workers in general are well paid, loads of overtime, and rotating shifts. If you get a chance to work for an airline, even more benefits, inc pension contributions as every little helps. (y)
Once you are in, you then get an even better chance to suss out whats on offer internally where and when as positions need filling quickly in the busy summer months.
Well something to think about eh?

May take weeks to get security clearance for airside pass.

If it helps my friend was full time and then his girlfriend gave up her flat to join him. I honestly believe there is someone for everyone but it takes time and effort to find them and you have to keep on trying each time you get a disappointment. I know too many people who just gave up because it's painful or time consuming.

Me too but I know that after a month I would be homesick and want to go home:cry:

Homesick? I am not sure where I would be homesick for. Certainly not here in Poland, except for Basia, but then she is with me when away. I lived in Barnes, SW London for about 25 years before I came here but I do not miss it now because everyone I knew is dead or has moved away.

As for Basia, when her Mother was alive she was happy to come home after 5 weeks, for Mother, but now we were away for two lots of 10 weeks last year and 'homesick' did not seem to bother her.

We have contemplated a move from here but it could involve some home base nearby in Poland and maybe a 'bothy' a bit further west in Europe, but both would be different for us so I could not see homesick being a factor.

Anyway there is a big 'shopping list' of old and new places we want to see so we have to get going , before time runs out.

I guess that's the upside of not having any close friends or family in one place. I don't really get homesick as my van and dogs are my home and they go with me. I have spells of loneliness but I get that no matter where I am , I got it in Scotland just the same. I have an anxiousness of no longer having a base but that's mostly just down to worries some founded some unfounded.
