MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

Fair bit of driving today from datca to ancient kaunos near dalyan. Some nice 4th century bc rock tombs "tombs of the Kings

I've walked a bit of the gorge, water is cold n fast flowing in places, but great fun. With the right shoes. Not advisable for the dogs though Tam.
Yeah I was trying to read to see if dogs were allowed in etc but couldn't see anything. Still it might be a drone opportunity.. Will see

Visited the ancient city of kaunos yesterday , 70tl entry... around £1.80

And then we went in search of the wee ferry to take us across the dalyan strait ... otherwise it's an 85km drive back around the lake as there's no bridges . The straight is literally only about 50metres wide so not a long crossing but the ferry was a bit of an old relic

I’d be a bit careful about letting the dogs go into water with that much algae in it, Tam.
They seem to enjoy drinking it too .. doesn't seem to have affected them much in the past. Although it wasn't a choice letting them go In there . They'd been off the lead a while as the ticket guy had said " you can let them run loose if you wish" so I did ...and they did the usual and ran ahead. They were already in there by the time I got down the steps.

I dunno I think street dogs seem to have tougher stomachs .

But where ever there's water they always charge in .

It's not a case of tougher stomachs. If your dogs come into contact with toxic blue-green algae they'll suffer liver failure. Not a likely scenario at this time of year, even in Turkey, but something to watch out for.

Hi Tam. Have you had any more thoughts on where to settle/base yourselves. Great journal by the way, keep up the professional photography! Good lick !!

I haven't....whenever I think about it I just worry and get stressed. I'd hoped that when I was travelling something would click but really all I'm doing is distracting myself. I haven't a clue what I'm going to do yet. I've a constant battle going on in my head , one side Says don't worry about it I've plenty savings just now to wait and see what happens , the other tells me i shouldn't be wasting my savings and I need to sort out some kind of work etc.

But in truth i have no idea what I want to do. I'm also struggling sometimes with the loneliness side of travelling solo. I'd say 80% of the time I'm fine but that other 20% is when I just withdraw and get down about it. Only really met up with folk for that 2 or 3 days at Christmas which seems like ages ago. There is not many folk travelling this area this year it seems.

So yeah I've not a clue yet. ...

The last few photos from yesterday. A few drone shots of daylan and a few of the tombs.

We then drove to fethiye and got here sometime yesterday afternoon, felt a bit lethargic yesterday so once I'd parked up I actually fell asleep with the dogs and woke up around 5pm ... we had a wee walk along the promenade a bit before it got dark .

Big storm last night, loudest thunder I've ever heard and a lot of rain ... and it's still thunder and lightning now.. forecast says its to stop around 12pm... its 9.45 now. Poor jade hates the thunder she's a wee nerve bag ... got music on to try and drown it out but she can still hear it.

8 other campers here but all Turkish bar one Belgian in a vario truck

I can totally understand what you say. You need to remind yourself from time to time that thousands of people are in a similar situation. Very few are brave enough to do something to alter or enrich tbeir lives. You stand head and shoulders above the moaning masses, if you know what I mean. You should be proud of youself, especially for keeping me entertained :winky:

theres a thread on the forum where wardens are needed for the summer, haven't posted the link to the thread as i don't think you're able to see the u shaped lounge area..

its at this place here.. http://kingsgreencaravanpark.com/?

comments say its a lovely friendly village location, could be fun for a while and somewhere to be whilst you get your thinking cap on maybe..

just a thought..

That kind of thing would be what I'm looking for but I unfortunately won't be home this year to start In March. I'll not be back in the UK till around July.

It might just be a few months Pitstop in UK this year to do van mot and a few other repairs and then head back to Spain for winter. I think any job will likely be next year now.

Aye I know ...like I said I'm not in a bad position, I've no debts , I own my own home , I've savings and my health and I've 4 furry companions ... life's not that bad really.

Just sometimes miss some company.

Anyway I will survive ..

I'm still planning to come visit you when I'm back in the UK if you're up for assisting me with sorting out my van bathroom and floor. 😁 . Your carpentry skills far exceed mine

Northernraider Tam I'm so enjoying your thread your wonderful photos and the adventures of your pups Blu has been an amazing addition to your clan.
Give yourself a break from worry it's such early days from grief of loosing your Mum and total change of circumstances, and I would think much to soon to think of a new place to settle.
When it's time the place to settle will present itself, maybe a bit more exploration of various countries yet.
Your never really alone as you have so many travelling virtually with you and grateful for sharing yours and the pups adventure.

Wherever you decide to settle, if you want work you could sign up with the local driving agencies, especially as I presume you have C1 licence, which is useful to them because not many younger drivers have it.

I did it for several years as a retirement job. I just told them when I would be available. If I went off travelling it did not seem to matter as I soon got work when I got back. Some of the clients used to phone me direct to find if I was available, before they phoned the agency to book me.

With the minimum wage going up it could be quite a good move.

Can't see how he could have a full time job away from home though with those dogs to look after on his own, no the warden job is more in his line, or some sort of dogs home thing that you see on the TV where he could mix them in.
YouTube is a possibility these days.

Aye unfortunately any type of work that involved me being away from the dogs for any more than 4 or 5 hours max wouldn't work. When I did the takeaway deliveries it was OK as I could pop past at anytime if need be to let them out etc.

Couldn't do that driving a lorry etc ... and not really possible to take 4 dogs with me.

It's going to have to be something like warden work. Or event marshalling etc ...or some type of job I can have the camper parked outside so I can go see them and take them out etc.

One of the joys of pet ownership and being single lol. ..... probably a big reason I'm still single too as they do restrict me.

There are local driving jobs e.g. supermarket home deliveries, builders merchants etc., where you work from a yard where you could park the MH and you return to the yard several times a day, so could walk the dogs between loads.

Aye my brother works as a home delivery driver for asda and his daughter is his boss , so it's an option of sorts

The problem with this type of work is I'm not sure how flexible they would be with me working 6 months of the year ... there are seasonal jobs but with delivery work those tend to be over winter Christmas time which is when I prefer to be abroad. Campsite work etc tends to be more spring till autumn which is more suited.

Possibly though I know Tesco employ students for home delivery so that must be May - September.

Anyway maybe best not think about too much just yet … what you want to do long term will definitely emerge ….
