Aye my brother works as a home delivery driver for asda and his daughter is his boss , so it's an option of sorts
The problem with this type of work is I'm not sure how flexible they would be with me working 6 months of the year ... there are seasonal jobs but with delivery work those tend to be over winter Christmas time which is when I prefer to be abroad. Campsite work etc tends to be more spring till autumn which is more suited.
They also use agency driver for sickness/holiday cover: I have worked for ASDA, Travis Perkins and other building and plumbing merchants, delivering to local building sites, so quite local short trips and they do need C1 drivers for large timber loads and pallets.
When you get back just go into agencies and chat to them to see if you fit into their client operations. Mature guy, with right clean licence who can be relied on to turn up on time and keep to the delivery schedule is a gift for them. They might bite your arm off. I always got a job when I said I was available, and when there was the odd client who was difficult to work for I said 'not again' and that did not jeopardise future work.
