Mo`s CL project.....

Perhaps we had a bad roll... but tried that on the hard standing at our other place...

And a few months down the line we were trying to pull up a very sharped leaved grass like stuff that had actually grown through it.. and that was through 6 - 8 inches of compacted aggregate and 4 inches of finishing gravel..

In the end I resorted to spraying with a commercial weed killer.. to keep on top of it.. (y)

@old-mo I only look in every now and and again Mo. You and Judy are awesome, I don't know how you do it:notworthy2:

Apparently mo, within a couple of years or so, if a city was uninhabited nature would reclaim it quicker than we think, or know!!!

I've seen grass, grow through 9 in concrete!!

Hope all is going to plan mate! Xxxx

Must have been some agressive grass :Eeek: put miles of it down under tracks for the cows and never had a problem.Although it was more for keeping the soil and stone separate.

Tree roots growing through 4" glazed sewer pipe, until I saw it, I thought it was impossible. Nature just laughs at us.:)

Maybe the membrane was damp from the rain rather than it being a "damp-membrane" ?
Hence the wheel spin :cautious: ???

Yes it was....very slippery under foot...

Both all cleared away...

Dug out and all the land filled with hard core... looks a huge space now...

Monday the builders are going to dig the footings for a row of Con-Blocks and while they are using my digger they are digging the foundation trench for the footings for the new En-suite and campers toilet... then Tuesday get ready mix of ton`s of concrete and Wednesday start to build the new garage/workshop and tractor/tool shed... and after that is done start on the en-suite...

Day off today.... well not really, managed to find a place a few miles away that sells red diesel.. :clap2:..

Top tractor up and spend the day cutting 3 acre field`s grass... grown like mad since I last cut it.. :swear2:...

Then tomorrow and next week finish of the Lounge...

The lads doing our bathroom are coming along nicely.. Most of the "Wall Board" up. A Bronzy/Gold Marble effect.. Not a very good photo, bit confined to take a decent one... I love the smooth coated board, bit dearer than tiles but so much easier to keep clean, and No black dirty joints after a few months.. Just a wipe over and the jobs done.. (y)

But they would have saved me cutting it, especially as I have so much to do... And part and partial of the deal (If she had put her horses on) was to remove eac "Day" her horse $hit...

We wanted some land to earn a few bob.. and as an investment..

So open to suggestions as to what we can do with it...

Been told in all probability we would get planning to put a dozen houses on.. but don`t want to go down that road really... we like the space we have here... :)

If if it's well fenced, in the spring local auctioneers hold " grass eating sales" and you just enter your ground and it is auctioned off, this is all above board and usually from march to October , for sheep or cattle or whatever you specify, average price is about £100 an acre if it is good grazing well fenced.
No problem getting them off , it's all in a contract.

Sheep Mo, perhaps your favourite creature :lips:;) , stock fencing , only little droppings and other benefits  jobs a good un .(y)

Well done Mo and Judy it's looking great!

What a superb place, even today boats jogging around, a lovely Cafe/Restaurant, Pub ... and great walks.. (y)

I just had a look where that is Mo (not into boats as such but I do like food:LOL:) & noticed north from there on the A 53 is a place called Loggerheads.

Absolutely no relevance but it gave me a chuckle:LOL:

I don't know any of that area but am looking forward to exploring when you are up and running(y)

Quick update....

Been a bit under the weather the last few days... :(

Anyway........ Monday the builders hired my digger.... dug out the footings for the garage/workshop and tractor shed... and En-suite...

Yesterday 9 men on site and laid membrane and tons of reinforced square metal thingy`s and at midday a pump lorry arrived and two of the biggest cement mixer thingy lorries you have ever seen came on site and within 3 hours had mixed and pumped through a pipe 80 tons of concrete.. and levelled... also about 4ft concrete in the trench for the En-suite... :Eeek:...

And at 5 am...(just as well we have no close neighbours) the boss man came with like a huge fan bladed thing and promptly bought the going off concrete up to what looks like a billiard table... (I said to him it`s only a garage and tractor shed....) it has to be done properly, say`s he ..

The boss lives in the village, and he and his workers are all Polish.... I cannot fault their work, Polite, keep asking = will you come and inspect what we have done... are you happy...

Bloody to right.... ashamed to say they put English builders to shame...... fantastic polite crew and nothing to much trouble... :clap2:(y)

I will post some pictures in a few days. orft to my bed now.

When I drew up the plans for the estimates of what I wanted.

(Had to check my copy`s) I had written down 6 inch concrete base.. which I thought was ample for what was going to be built on top...

But in their wisdom they have put a 8 inch concrete slab down..:Eeek:

Couple of photo`s =

Well done. That bloody great fan thing is for floating the concrete. In good hands you can get a mirror finish with one like they have on warehouse floors. It’s a better finish than just leaving it tamped. They are doing the job right. Keep the updates coming. (y)

I recently watched a video of a slab pour on one of my favourite youtube channels.

They used one of those whirly things as well. Was great to watch... 19 minutes in and onwards.
