Michelin Agilis Cross Climate tyres

Marketing BS.
N&B fit Conti Four seasons as standard, most Motorhomes on the Ivecoo fit standard van tyres as they don't make CP tyres the size required.
What sizes are you looking at here?. The Iveco (as I know it) is an LGV?. My R-V ran on 22" wheels.

Lenny you and me on same wave length... How can Michelin say they produce a tyre that has a max load rating of x ammount but only for a short time... what therefore is true load rating. I know many builders /mechanics van that are fully loaded at all times and don't empty out their vans one day a week just because Mr Michelin says their perfectly adequate tyres will explode if they don't!!!!

So Michelin have produced a tyre that in my opinion far exceeds it Camper tyres and everybody is now fitting these Cross Climate tyres and Michelin now has a warehouse full of Camper tyres that they cant get rid of and Michelin reply as they did to Ken!!!!! Makes one wonder does it not!!!!!!! Better rush out and change my CC's for inferior Campers.

Sorry, which part of the email from Michelin was not clear?

The tyre manufacturer recommends a cheaper version than the one that you are interested in and you don't thank them for their honesty but rather distrust their response.

Wow! You have convinced me that you know more about tyres than Michelin.

Bit harsh and uncalled for.. You maybe more gullible than you think if you believe everything a manufacturer tells you.

I was speaking to a Tyre company today and mentioned about mh tyres, and the cross climate, their response was the big tarmac company they supply tyres for have changed all their vans to cross climate, and upped the rating to 121, apparently they are now lasting a lot longer and they are always run at full weight, so if I were to have cross climate then they couldn't see a problem.

Just had to change all 4 tyres on the motorhome due to cracking on the side wall.
They were Michelin Agilis 225/75R 16 dated 2014. All identical splitting.

Taran_Las has a similar problem with Michelin Camping tyres, They really are a tyre not fit for purpose, combine that with the hard ride and the diabolical lack of grip they really are a crap tyre.

New tyres arrived today. Should be better on grass once fitted??

Unfortunately they are not for my moho, but arrived today for my Defender. I am thinking of BFG all terrains for the MoHo next time though. They are also triple ply tyres so very very strong and will have no problem with weight of vehicle. On my muds I run them as low as 10psi if required.

That’d be a first! The MH market is not a big market and they produce them in batches and there is often a wait to get hold of them.

Oh to be a cynic!

Ian

The 5800 kg chassis is on 16" wheels but a 235 profile, Michelin only do the 16" camper in 225.
Ah!. Our Rapido is on R235-65/16" tyres too. (Sprinter/Auto). That could account for it still being on Conti`s?. They came fitted when we bought?.

So who else does an R235 Tyre of 16"dia.?

Conti don't make a Camping tyre in that size either so you must have standard van tyres. Don't think anyone else makes camping tyres now, Pirelli use to.
Makes a mockery of what Michelin say when they make such a limited range of sizes.

Is it not the case that Michelin are saying the Cross Climates aren't suitable for motorhomes as they flat spot when parked up for a while? Well since retirement my subaru fitted with CC has been more stationary than the motorhome, shame I can't switch the wheels over!

That’s the very reason I decided to risk them. At the time I made the decision, my van was my only vehicle and in use most days, so very little risk of flat spotting.

Likewise, my car does less than 2000 miles the Motorhome does 8-10,000 miles a year.

I am not, as I stated in another recent post Lenny, I do not like the Camper Tyres.
Are you referring to the Cross Climates then? If so you would be better off with winter tyres which is probably what I will fit.

I have run 4 of our Motorhomes on Winter Tyres, 3 of them Michelin Agilis Winters. I also run two Sprinters on Agilis Winters too. Superb tyres.

That did not sound right. So I had a look, they are definitely Conti. Vanco Camper. 235-65 /16 The date is 2316 which I interpret as 23rd week of 2016? (say June July of 2016)

Just about Readable:-

So I can only assume they have stopped production?.

Bit confused about this continuous running at speed with maximum loads. I know a few companies who will run a van at near max weight on a return trip to Scotland covering about 500+ miles in a day. Are they operating their vehicles dangerously by fitting van tyres?

In support of Michelin Agrilis Tyres and to try and balance the argument, I can report that on a 3500kg MH I have covered 34000 miles in 5 years on these tyres and having done a front to back change, still have 4mm of tread on all the tyres across the whole of the tyre. Ride could probably be softer but I have had no grip problems and on the few occasions I have had to break hard, they have preformed very well. I appreciate that tyres are a personal choice and different drivers will prefer different tyres but I do not believe that it is fair to completely castigate these tyres and rubbish them as if it is an absolute fact. I have asked many owners who have these tyres and I personal have yet to meet anyone who believes that they are not fit for purpose. Many newbys come on this site to gain knowledge and if they only read some of the comments above they would come away with a very one sided view. Oh, and I have again just checked my 5 year old 34K mile tyres and I can find no cracking anywhere - and please dont have a go as I am not doubting that members above who have had issues - just stating that I have not.

Elliesboss.... a point I tried to make earlier However IMO not designed to be used as a tyre and Mr Michelin did not mention in his email in thread 25 anything!!! about high speed.... he said they should not be use continuously at high load..... so you would not even be able to do a loop of M25 car park at ridiculously low speeds without them exploding!!!!
