Rally Chat Lymington Seafood Festival, Golf, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Isle Of Wight (& More!) Rally August 2018

Oh lord have mercy! We’ve just got back from the festival and Chris has bought some toffee vodka. He’s persuaded me it’s a good idea to have it in my afternoon coffee :beerchug:

And that’s after Oysters for lunch....,,,,

Don’t waste the toffee vodka in your coffee - best recipe is equal parts Baileys and toffee vodka!! Lovely.

We'd like to add our thanks to the Marshalls for their hard work in organising everything yesterday, you could tell a lot of planning & hard work have gone into this meet, and all the marshalls and helpers worked tirelessly yesterday in the appalling weather. Well done & thank you :)

View attachment 248373 Go out of the gate and turn left. Follow the road then footpath for about 30 min to see this view. The bull doesn’t seem to mind dogs
I've walked my local fields and beyond all my life but I'd be a bit cautious about entering a bull's field, especially with a dog. I'm pretty sure it is not legal to have a bull in a field where a public footpaths crosses it. The NFU advise dog walkers to let a dog off the lead when in a field of cattle (i.e. not sheep) if the cattle begin to approach menacingly, and whether with a dog or not to avoid or be very cautious if entering a field of cattle with calves at foot.
Just heard on the Radio 4 News at 6 o'clock that a farmer in East Sussex was killed in a field last evening, trampled by cattle when he was feeding his herd. Apparently 5 people a year die from being trampled by cattle.

Thanks from us to the Marshalls incuding Mr Matt Dillon. Had a pleasant morning /afternoon at the seafood festival. Tasted some stunning things including Lemonade Tempura battered sea vegetables, calamari with aoli, whitebait with harissa mayo, hake & cod tachos with doobries and lettuce. Just need next weeks pension to pay for it all. . Oh almost forget the Strawberry Gin.

Just to reassure you :
A) The bull bit was for amusing effect. It was the only bovine in that particular field, and there were several cows in the next field, with no barrier between them. If it was a bull, then it was need of Viagra, but I didn’t check that closely
B) I rarely, if ever let the dogs off the lead, unless I know the area well. A friend list his down a foxhole/rabbit warren once, never to be seen again

Yes, I do much the same with my dog. We and my series of dogs have walked a couple of miles over fields virtually every day (except when there's deep mud) without any problem for getting on for twenty years . I'm not an H&S scaremonger but I guess it was having just heard the News item about the farmer that had me thinking (writing) aloud, and several of those NFU plastic advice plates have appeared recently on stiles/kissing gate posts.
I think if when off his lead my current Westie was chased by cattle the rascal would come running to me for protection - followed by the stampeding cattle

Treasure Hunt

If you would like to test your observation skills, then here are a few clues you can find answers to on the walk from the field we are all in to the High Street

Just for fun, no prize. I’ll publish the answers on Tuesday.

You’ll need a smartphone to read the questions as you walk, and paper and pencil to record your answers ( or smart phone)

Good luck!
