Lifestyle Change Can Happen In Seconds...

I would be amazed if most of the hang men in here have never driven their MH’s or been driven in them , while over the plated weight limit

surely a very similar offence ?

hope everything works out OK for you JJ ?

from another funster who maybe puts too much information out there

On the subject of lifestyle change , be sure to keep your eyesight test updated, a neighbour pulled in to let an Ambulance pass , a few days later knock at the door, Percy Plod ,”Hello Sir do you recall pulling in to let an Ambulance pas a few days ago? “ “I do “ he replied. “Can you read the registration plate of the Car over there ? “ He failed, was immediately issued with a £1000.00 Fixed Penalty, an had his Licence seized.
I do not know any more of the facts to this case but it is true and I would suspect that he hindered the progress of the emergency unit.
So keep the mince pies in order , and watch out for those blues and twos ‘n
Sounds a bit far fetched to me. Even I didn’t have this sort of authority as a police traffic officer Inspector.

I made a mistake a few days ago, 1st Nov it wasn't until the evening I realised I hadn't renewed my road tax online.
I had been driving about all day, nearly sh-t myself when I realised and quickly rang Caz who went online immediately to renew.

So I had been driving to work that day without tax and would have been in big trouble I presume if a bad accident had occurred.

That's a mistake in my book

I totally forgot with being busy at work.

Is intentionally doing something also a mistake ? Not sure about that one.

Lesson I’ve learned ( by observation) don’t put all you life on a public forum.

Please, please Mr Raybreck, be assured (very assured) that I would NEVER EVER put "all my life" on a public forum... (Jim would never allow it).

UPDATE.

Following a long meeting last night with two of my people (for those Funsters who know, Mosca and Fatima) my blessed Hymer is no longer for sale.

It will remain as my home on Quinta Majay for the foreseeable future.

For any of the Algarve "gang" that I often meet up with over the festive season, be prepared to be introduced to a new (very) Stealth Wagon...

Nothing cast in stone but hopes are high right now...

Read all the way through this thread...

And it amazes me how many "holier-than-thou "...... and how many "Butter would not melt in their mouths"...

Members we have....

Knowing JJ and having rubbed shoulders with him many a time...

I am sure JJ did not break the law on purpose..... and knowing him if he had known I am sure he would have put things right at the first opportunity....

Some need to look back and think..... Can you honestly say you have never broken the law...????

I think of myself as a law abiding citizen.... but a few years ago I drove round in a car for just over a week with out any insurance.... I clean forgot about the reminder.... till I had a reminder letter from the insurance company saying sorry I have not renewed with them and do I want proof of no claims over the last 9 years sent to me ...

So let`s lighten up and move on...:nod::nod::nod::nod:(y)

I really appreciate your kind words Sir Old Mo but, as an honest man, I have to admit that I was aware my licence wasn't exactly correct...

In the last two years I have been stopped by the GNR and had all my documents checked a couple of times without incident...

Ah well...

As for killing any Funsters' family members with an "uninsured" van... I haven't and nor will I do so...

That's the difficulty I think some of us are having with this Mo, as JJ DID know he was breaking the law and has done so for over 2 years and didn't sort it as soon as he could and continued to break the law until he was caught.

If it had been a simple oversight as you, and probably all of us have done in one way or another, totally accidentally and in a short time scale I don't think anyone would be overly worried, but that's not the case here. Doing it intentionally for 2 years isn't the same thing.

Sorry JJ, love seeing your input to threads but my 'view' has been tainted, I know it won't worry you but it hasn't endeared you to me, and others either I suspect.

WHAT !!!!. You bought a vehicle without consulting your UK buying department. Am not surprised Mothercare has gone down the pan with all this internet shopping.

Doesn't bother me either way but what I see on this thread is folks sticking up for him just because it's good old JJ if it had been someone else there wouldn't have been an ounce of sympathy and they would have been treated as some sort of enemy to society.

What's the point, how would you see a 'Stealth van' ???

It seems some of you are so offended and just must say so. Would those of you who feel so outraged by this, like me to arrange a boxing ring so you can line up and give him a whack for his law-breaking. You'll be in no danger, he won't hit you back he's a quaker and it might make you feel better.

The most worrying thing for me is that in the opening post, the poster states that it was medical issues that caused him to not get the proper licence.

No thank you Jim ... perhaps as a quaker he should abide by the law though and not intentionally continue to break it?

Great to hear JJ, I'm pleased for you. I was going to say that it didn't take you long to get back on your feet, but I don't think you were ever off them- just a slight stumble. :) (y)

Exactly what our games teacher at school used to do if he caught anyone fighting, it was in the sports hall with boxing gloves on, those were the days!

So, JJ owned up to being in the wrong and knowingly driving a vehicle he wasn’t legally allowed to

While I can’t and won’t condone that, I can certainly applaud him for not trying to lay the blame on someone or something else, like many seem to do on here when they are caught out doing something they shouldn’t.
Good luck for the future JJ.

Many years ago I drove around in a 7m+ motorhome, 7 berth often with 6 people 6 bikes inflatable boat and everyones stuff, enough chairs etc for everyone. This was rated at 3500kg. It also only had two belted seats. This was in the days before MHF had enlightened me and I don't suppose I am the only one.

The most worrying thing for me is that in the opening post, the poster states that it was medical issues that caused him to not get the proper licence.

That could as simple as not up to a treadmill.

Same thing happened to me last year on our way to a show somewhere near Grantham. Halfway along the A17 the van went into limp mode and it wasn't until I phoned the insurance company for the breakdown service I realised the van had been sorned over winter. I taxed it sitting in a layby opposite RAF Cranwell. :wasntme: Pity they did away with the tax disc it served more than one purpose.
