You are so very, very kind Mr (Mrs/Ms) Scotch mist but I am fully equipped to survive all the stuff thrown at me by Funsters!

I knew pretty much what would be said by some and I am certain they are exactly right... but I choose not to live my life by certain rules/standards set by others and I must be prepared to suffer any consequences dished out to me for doing so.

Do you know... I even go shopping with fake crocs on and NO SOCKS.

JJ

Damn you Sir. You have stepped over the mark. Something can be forgiven, but fake crocs???

Not looking to take work away from your staff but in the not to distant future of 2020 we will be looking for a place to park our van and do a bit of volunteer work. I could be your chauffeur?‍✈️ (sorry couldn't find a emoji for a chauffeur so a pilot is near enough)

Nobody sets out with the intension of knocking into something (unless they're a fruit loop) but s#*t happens.
So many keyboard warriors .
Whatever the circumstances JJ I hope for you normal services can soon resume.
Unload all those FB pies and downgrade the weight if poss ? if not I hope the next one meets your needs.

Well... what a kind idea... providing you find QMJ suitable (and you pass the strict entry exam) you will be welcome to come and visit... no work needed in return though...

but...

just as a matter of interest, can you operate a strimmer, ride on mower, prune and look after grapes and olive trees and a fig and peach tree?

As long as you don't need a CV, because I haven't got one. But does spending 3 years looking after a friends small holding not a million miles away from you count? Didn't have a peach tree though but plenty of everything else?‍?

Sorry if I offend JJ, but knowingly driving around a Motorhome without a valid licence, and thus most likely no valid insurance, is not acceptable in my eyes.

Please don't ever worry about offending me Mr ShaKen...

I'm pretty sure I would offend you far more intensely were we ever to actually meet...

Just got up to date and read this thread.

So sorry to hear of your travails JJ.
It’s so damned easy to nudge another vehicle in car parks (don’t ask how I know :() and that tiny slip and loss of concentration for a second can have such consequences.

Chin up JJ and I hope the negotiations for another ’Beast’ go well.

Richard.

Not true JJ. I remember meeting at twin lakes 3 or 4 years ago and I only took 2 years to get over it.
Hope you get sorted soon. :)

I was thinking about what JJ has written, and part of me feels for him and yes there is a but coming......... and I am not being judgmental.

We all have a responsibility to make sure we are fit and legal to drive, not just for our own sakes but more importantly for others, it is I suggest both a moral and ethical responsibility.

I have an Uncle who I admire, the type of Guy most of us would be delighted to be related to, over the years his eyesight has deteriorated and night driving is difficult, mobility is becoming hard and he knows the time has come to sell his car. I feel sad he has come to this point but it is a decision he has made and totally respect him for doing this, but given his character it doesn't surprise me. It is also a decision we will all have to make and I only hope I will recognise the time when I have to hang up my steering wheel.

As a few others have said it is not acceptable to drive with no licence, or knowing being unfit or not having insurance or MOT, as the post says lifestyle can change in seconds

JJ your brave to have posted what you have, but what if you had an Major accident and that affected the lives of others!

Cripey Cripes... have just realised why I had so very many enquiries about the FB ad for my beloved Hymer...

I had it priced far too low for Portugal - by several thousand euros!

Ad now removed but one possible customer is still in the picture.

I've met him about 3 times and I don't think I'll ever get over it.

I'll never forget him eating a FB pie.

Cold.

And he didn't even bother to open the tin.

Don't mess with JJ.

On the subject of lifestyle change , be sure to keep your eyesight test updated, a neighbour pulled in to let an Ambulance pass , a few days later knock at the door, Percy Plod ,”Hello Sir do you recall pulling in to let an Ambulance pas a few days ago? “ “I do “ he replied. “Can you read the registration plate of the Car over there ? “ He failed, was immediately issued with a £1000.00 Fixed Penalty, an had his Licence seized.
I do not know any more of the facts to this case but it is true and I would suspect that he hindered the progress of the emergency unit.
So keep the mince pies in order , and watch out for those blues and twos ‘n
Sounds like a story that's done the rounds a few to many times nothing about it stacks up

Sorry to hear that JJ - how has your princess taken the news?>

Hi Cat! (And all!)
Thanks for your concern... lol !

You see Cat (and ALL), I have rules I built my lifestyle on. I needed 4 goes/mistakes with my children when they were little to understand a few things. Life path is made of options, different tracks are in sight but for a sum of reasons, which of course are always personal, only one track is going to be the right one for you the very moment you point it out: because of a specific situation. It can be family, it can be professionnal, it can be financial, it can be medical, it can be weather or geography, it can be because you just feel safer with this option. And what I have learnt is that once it's chosen/done.....you can't go backwards. Critisizing or judging or just saying , "see I told you" is both a waste of time and a waste of energy. Certainly not what the person telling her/his story is looking for. Life always decides what comes next. It can be bad, really bad , dramatically bad.... or just good! Just a gamble. We've all gambled with decisions we made. And yes it could have affected more than .... the one person who made this choice.
I prefer to think and see what is the best way to find the right solution .... again depending on personal situation. Personal situation ... What does it mean? A situation you know little about , or even nothing at all .

Does it mean you can't help? NO! You can go "chin up JJ you're the best, you'll find your way!

JJ There you go my Prince! Carry on thinking , imagining, making plans , A B C D E F. As many as you need to feel good and ready to fight!;):cool:

Well I know one thing for sure. If this little mishap had happened in a UK supermarket carpark and someone phoned the old bill to report it. First thing the bill would say is "Was anyone injured". If the reply was "No, only my car slightly damaged", the bill would immediately loose interest. There reply would be, sort it out with your insurance companies. That of course would only apply after waiting 2 hours on the phone for a reply from bill. By that time everyone would have got fed up and gone home.
It has always been the case that if there are no injuries and no allegations or apparent offences and no danger to other road users the police would not attend and advise those concerned to let their insurance companies deal with matters. This is so wherever the accident takes place. So I don’t see what you point is. Unless it’s just to have a pop at the police. Would you have them waste their time attending an accident when not necessary.

My good mate Mr Snowbird sometimes thinks what happens in Blighty applies to everywhere.

Every now and again he gets things a teeny weeny weeny bit wrong.

I have been taught that if you have a "collision" (no matter how small) in Portugal you have to call the police.

You must not move either vehicle so measurements can be made on the paperwork.

This rule can cause inconvenience to other road users as the dented vehicles are often in the middle of the road or round-about or juction creating a blockage to traffic... but that is what happens.
