Lenny's off again Germany, then wherever

That looks better! If you can find it, we’ve had schweinshaxe - ham hock/ pork knuckle in both Germany and Austria, it was delicious.
Pork knuckle with dumplings in a Dunkel beer sauce was pretty much the only decent restaurant meal we had in Germany over nearly three weeks this year.

Most German restaurant food is pretty grim, unadventurous, and stodgy, as evidenced again here in Lenny's pics.

Top tip for food in Germany is to try one of the "Turks" (kebabs shops) that are everywhere. Some are takeaway only, but many have a few tables outside and even sell a beer to wash it down. Not normally a great kebab fan, but they also do things like falafels. A soft flour tortilla stuffed full of salad, sauerkraut, humous and falafels for about 7 or 8 euros beats pretty much everything else in Germany.

As the weather is good now we have headed a bit north to Alsfeld another town on the Fairytale Road, something we didn't know existed until yesterday.

On a nice Stellaplatz only €5/24hr.

Well Fulda was a bit of a waste of time not much of the old town left, the Brits did a good job of bombing it.

Most if the town is 60's buildings.

The Cathedral was quite impressive an elderly gent came up to us and gave us a guided tour, he only knew a bit of English but far more than we know of German, it was interesting.

Is that really boiled potatoes with a schnitzel on that plate? Gosh Lenny you remind me why I crossed Germany in 3 days last year, how often can one eat Schnitzel lol 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆, I can throw in some pics from Greek food next week to cheer you up😎🤷🏻‍♂️😆😇

I have to say that many years ago we stayed on a site in Luxembourg that had a small bistro. The owner made her own schnitzel and it was delicious, we had it a few times during the week we were there.
Going through Austria a few years ago stopped at Wolf bar/restaurant you could spend the night if you has a meal.
Had the Cordon Blur Schnitzel as it was the special, the Schnitzel alone was the size of a large dinner plate. Everytime you finished your beer the landlady grabbed your glass and refilled it.

The Germans take their bowels very seriously, which explains why the design of the typical toilet in Germany includes an "inspection" platform.

With this fixation in mind this tableau is not what you might think. It is three folk getting ready for thier................. enemas. :)

Apologies to Lenny HB for lowering the tone of his thread... :)

Meant to mention it's gradually getting warmer 25° today not too bad for nearly October in Germany but doesn't look like we are going to get proper holiday weather (30°+).
