Lenny's Modding the new Mini Gin Palace

Finally got around to modding the gas filler. When the dealer swapped my gas bottles over not only did they fit the filler in the locker they said it was beond their capabilities to fit it outside. The last place I want a filler is inside the locker and certainly not at eye level, flipping dangerous. Also they used the 10 year old filler pipe for the old van to connect the two bottles & they hadn't a clue how to do up the buckles on the retaining straps so the bottles were lose.

All sorted, now new filler pipe between bottles, fitted the gas filters from the old van with new filter cartridges and an external filler point.

I'm only going to say this once, but you are really quite clever. Great job done.

Just shows how much they know about what they are selling? defies belief really.

Tut tut Lenny 😄 ... I'd have thought you'd have fitted the filler flap so it opens sideways or downwards, having it top hung means that it will flop onto the adapter all the time which will be a pain. Also I suggest buying the longer UK bayonet as we found that with our filler being right next to the wheel arch trim it made it difficult to fit the gun sometimes.

Worse than all of that he has “Michelin camper tyres”! 😂

You need to get motoring Lenny so you can replace them 🤭

Been using them that way up for 16 years never noticed a problem.

I've got two Dutch bayonet adaptors (had to give them the correct title) one came with the new filler so I can screw one into the other.

Most dealers seem rubbish at anything beyond selling the vans.

Auto 2000 Leisure at Carlton Minniot near Thirsk did mine, highly recommended people who know how to do a proper job with a filler on the skirt!!

Did Charlie have a white cover or did you paint t it?
Not seen a white one on their site, I did consider painting it but I thought it would probably flake off.

Yes they fitted the white one. Maybe give them a ring.

I called in to a dealer / parts supplier last week looking for a flyscreen for one of my Omnistor roof lights. "What vehicle is it for please?" I was asked. "A Pilote" was my reply. "Oh, I'm sorry, but I've never heard of that brand" she said.

Oh don't bother, I'll ask elsewhere

Just out of interest, Lenny, when you sell or part ex your old moho, do all your mods make any difference to the value or the price you get ?

My old B544 (could have been one of your old ones) had loads of extras and fittings but getting a p/ex price none of the dealers seemed interested. In fact of 4 dealers from around the UK, they all gave the same value.

Oy thing that made any differ was the full air suspension.

Personally i think doing all sorts of mods to a van one does them for ones own comfort and convienance not to add valaue. Some of the mods do help it to sell when the time comes but rarely increases it's value.
