Is this as good as it seems? EU roaming included.

Note what network your phone has logged onto then put the RWG sim in your phone and change to the same network then put it back in the Mifi, worked for me.
Hi Lenny - I tried that again just for good measure but it didn’t make any difference. Everything is pointing to the device being at fault and now I’ve managed to freeze myself out of my Vodafone account 🙈.
I’ll see what RWG come back with but we need to get on the road …..

I had originally ordered the unlimited texts and calls with 200GB of data for £20 on EE however Ive been in contact with RWG re the best sim for Data streaming as thats all I will be doing in Europe and they came back with this which will cost in total £28 a month for 200GB.

Hi Michael,

You would need the Global SIM in order to use the Data only SIM in the EU, and it is £10 a month on top.

Well that's not true. Look at the info on the RWG website - it clearly states inc. EU roaming. Lenny and a couple of others have stated above that it is working (to varying levels of success)

It may be that the global is better abroad?? Not sure why that would be though.

They have contacted me this morning saying they have refunded my £20 for the other sim and put me onto the world sim package. I head out next week to Croatia visiting lots of different countries on route so will be interesting to see.

Ah I see.

£18 200GB and you can choose EE Vodahone or Global. (+£10) I assume Global will choose the best network where as the other two are restricted to those networks. Not sure what the £20 - 200GB does though. There is no choice of EE/Vodaphone/Global on that one. Wonder what that means????

Report back. We will need this for Balkan states in Sept. Wonder what will be best for France in June though???

We normally watch very little TV when away however it’s end of season and champions league when we are out there I will cancel once I get back. Apparently Popit are due to announce a bigger package soon as well

Morning all, I've been following this thread with interest. We head across the water next week for 3 months. I've now cancelled Tiekom and have a Popit SIM but yet to use it abroad?? Are people generally happy with it?
Can't decide whether to order an RWG SIM as well.
I generally use around 200gb a month when on the road (mostly for photo and video editing and uploading) so the 100gb on Popit is a bit tight for my needs.

I have a Popit from a friend who has lent it me. Working great!

So is the RWG one now after a few hiccups. It’s worth it for £20 for 200GB, hope it stays working as I will keep it if so.

all this "change this, change that ,input different apn's etc" i'm driving when I stop I want internet for a short period before bed so want something that works out the box without any fiddling with .like i have here. I couldn't be doing with all this .

Didn’t have to change anything with my Huawei B535 just registered sim in phone and then put it in router and it works well.

Me too I just use my phone I just don't see the benefit of routers etc but maybe I just don't understand

My £18 RWG 200gb Vodafone SIM arrived today and I put it straight in the no.1 slot in the Teltonika RUTX12 and it’s fired up fine. APN settings are set to ‘auto’ and I can see that it’s all registered correctly. Speed tests when I connect to both the 2G & 5G Wi-Fi are 300% better than the crappy copper wire BT home broadband. Another couple of weeks before we hit the ferry and hopefully it’ll keep performing well.

A router with a good MIMO aerial are invaluable in poor signal areas. You can be up in the mountains with no signal on your phones and on the Mifi with the aerial you can still pull in at least 3G signal.

Also a decent router/Mifi will get a better signal than a phone.
A Mifi you can connect 10 devices simultaneous and with a router 254.

I think people just like messing around with UK Sims, APN’s , routers etc. and emailing ISP’s to complain they aren’t working 😊. Dear Sir blah blah blah…..I’m in France/Germany/Spain/Italy/Saskatchewan etc blah blah blah ….. angry of Lichfield ..

EU Sims far better….none of yer “will it be OK roaming”… I parked my French Reglo Sim for six months as found better EU sim but now Reglo have brought in a 150GB sim for €19.95 a month (£17.65 a month in real money) so might unpark it…and park my other one….if it did stop working or get slow in some part of Europe I’d park it and unpark the other one….mix n match like the old Woolworths.

I did keep a UK Vodafone sim which allowed “fair” (didn’t seem very fair to me seeing as I was paying for 60GB ☹️) usage of 25GB just in case but got a message the other day saying they were increasing cost by inflation rate of 13.1% (who knew, thought that was only tomatoes) to £26 😳 so they’re history. Don’t need them.

Is yours a mobile sim or a Data Sim (Orion), I'm assuming Data, as it's connected to Vodaphone. I contacted RWG to ask them if their Vodaphone time included EU roaming and the reply was:
"Hi John
Thanks for your query.
The data only 200GB SIM is a pay monthly SIM. When choosing Vodafone or EE this will be UK only and you will need to purchase a Global SIM to include roaming which is £10/month extra. There are no restrictions when using the Global SIM.
Best wishes

It seems to me, the only option with RWG is the 200g mobile sim (EE) or pay £28 for the Global Sim

What does RWG stand for……Roaming With Grief ?

Early days yet, before I commit and I've got another month before I need one, I'm going to wait for a final verdict from Lenny:giggle:

I’ve been following this topic as I’m getting a Motorhome Wi-Fi for the first time early next month and then have a trip to France and Italy booked. I’ve also been writing to RWG support team looking for clarity, but I’m still confused.
Is anyone using an EE or Vodafone SIM that provides calls, texts and data in a Motorhome Wi-Fi for data only?
The responses I have received from RWG recommend the Global SIM for data only in the EU (and the rest of the world) but that’s £10 extra per month which I want to avoid if possible.

I think the only choice is EE for EU use, other than the Global Sim

It’s the £18/month 200gb Data SIM from This Package

I have asked for clarification from RWG as their FAQs state this:

“International roaming is automatically enabled when you receive your RWG Mobile SIM Card. All EU roaming is included on the same terms as your UK plans and prices for all of our monthly plans above £3.50 (not included on FREE, £2, £3.50 plans or 1 Yr and 2 Yr plans).
The EU is defined as the 27 countries within the European Union.”

‘Global’ suggests to me that it’s encompassing more than just the EU though.

Thanks for the update, I guess the telling time will be when you cross the channel, please keep us (me )updated(y)

Good points raised here, the website and subsequent emails from the sales/support staff are contradictory- I would have liked the £18 data SIM but they have told me that it’s not suitable for roaming however the Ts and Cs appear to contradict this - they keep pointing me towards the Global Sim but as you say it’s £10 a month more expensive, I wish they would make a statement to clear it up as its confusing to me - I don’t want to criticise but the RWG staff appear to need better product training - like you I only need UK & EU so don’t want to buy a global SIM if I don’t need it

RWG also told me that the Global SIM will swap to the best signal available as you travel through different parts of Europe and presumably beyond the EU.
Every time I think I’m down to my last question, having understood everything else, the reply from RWG begs another question🤨 That could be the technical nature of the subject or just the English language being open to interpretation.

The sims giving EU roaming:

The EU is defined as the 27 countries within the European Union.

Ref the Global sim, it says:

200GB data only £18/month

£18.00
Get 200GB for a month with our data only SIM. Choose your network from either Vodafone or EE or select our Global SIM for full roaming across 700 networks.

So it is probably a worldwide sim hence the extra cost.

Reglo allows 19GB roaming after that it's 2 cents/mb extra upto your 150 GB limit.

Edited to correct. It is 0.2cents/mb.

3.19 GB included in the package deducted from the package; beyond the 19 GB included: 131 GB deducted from the package at €0.0021/MB; beyond 150 GB: speed reduced to €0.0021/MB

I think you’re getting your MB’s and GB’s mixed up. It’s €0.0021 per MB. There’s 1024 MB in a GB. Times €0.0021 by 1024 that’s 2.15 cents per GB (not MB)… Times that by 131 which is 281.7 cents …divided by 100 = €2,82 (rounded up) for the extra 131GB…so I stand corrected….€22,77 (£20.15 in real money) for 150gb.

I never used the 150 GB so probably didn’t notice the odd 80 cents on my previous deal of 60GB but I will keep an eye on it from now on…as they say every little bit helps 😊

Of course I could be wrong 😊

In fact I could be wrong…don’t remember being charged anything extra when roaming…I’ll find out soon.
