Is this as good as it seems? EU roaming included.

It was working well the first couple of days in France then not so good in southern France.
Now in the mountains in Spain just across the boarder, in the Mifi it's giving me a solid 3G signal but I can't browse with it.

My phone is getting an H+ sometimes a 4G, I can browse on the H+. At the moment on H+.

RWG sim is in EE and network it has picked up is Orange 4G. It won't register on any other network.
Phone sim is Plusnet on EE network is Movistar 4G.

I tried a hard reset on the Mifi no different.
As we are travelling at the moment not got time to play around more.
I did have problems connecting in Dover Lenny till I selected 4G manually on the router, sweet as a nut then? 🤷‍♂️

What router are you using?

Mine was fine until I got down to the Dordogne.
It’s a zyxel.

Just sat at the Tunnel waiting.

On another note, don’t tell the vet you are travelling a month before you are or the AHC won’t be valid. 😢🤦🏼

Thankfully the vet was in at Abbeywell and didn’t charge me full price for a same day certificate.

It’s working, took over an hour to kick in and signal keeps dropping out. I am hoping that’s due to where I am. I have emailed them just in case.

Think I understand, however when on the order page of RWG it gives 3 options , EE, Vodafone or Global.
Is it preferable to choose 'Global' for France, Spain, over and above the others do you know ?
Thanks.

I don't see that option. Mines on EE which doesn't work in my house

Has anyone found the RWG app? It seems to suggest there is one but I cannot see it on Google Play. Surely there is some way to monitor your usage?

For the app search for JOYN and it in there , I think you then put your RWG number in.
I‘ve downloaded the app but not looked yet when using the RWG sim, I will later today.

It been on for a week apart from when I've reset it.
I'm going to try sims put it in my phone & put the phone sim in the mifi.
About to give up and get a local sim.

We arrived at Santander on 8/3 to 19C a spot of rain as we passed Burgos and 19C in Aranjuez, 27C at Granada and today 21C at Motril. No rain since passing Burgos and almost wall to wall sun throughout. Can’t really believe how good it’s been
We left Spain 20th March the weather was picking up after a cold previous 6 weeks.

So on O2 at the moment and I get
150gb data (25gb EU) but my full allowance in USA
Unlimited text
Unlimited calls

£11 a month for 6 mths then £22 a month

If you have virgin they double your data and anything over 250gb is then unlimited

I have 02 SIM 160gb per month 22.31 just back from Spain for 3 months got full 160 GB each month.

Looks good just looked through the T&C no mention of data in the fair use policy but I did find this.

"You may also use the Services through your Device as a means to connect another personal device (for example, a tablet) to the internet (Tethering) but you must not Tether more than one device at the same time."

But it should still work in a Mifi I think.

We are off a week tomorrow might order one tomorrow and give it a try I was going to order a Popit 100 GB sim but 200 GB means we wouldn't have to worry about going over our data limit.
Why should they care if 2 people use 100gb each or 4 people use 50gb each?

I was on a 100GB plan with EE which was £20 a month, in Dec EE contacted me and offered me a new deal for Unlimited data for £18 - no brainer. They said I could use this on an unlimited basis in the EU (not sure about Switzerland) if I paid the roaming charge (additional £10 a month or £2 a day). I therefore enabled the £10 roaming charge as I was out in Spain from late Jan to Mid March. During this time I streamed a fair bit, about 2-3 hours a day, mainly Youtube, and some terrestrial TV (BBC and some ITV from memory) and used over 500Gb. I was watching this on a 21" TV so don't really need high quality playback which is more data hungry, some apps you can reduce the quality and some you can't. I'd put the EE sim card in my Kuma Connect 4G router, I also had a cheap Lebara Sim with 15GB of data - uswitch deal for £6.95 (£2.78 for 3 months) in my phone, and found I could still access WhatsApp (my main method of messaging) for my usual phone number for the SIM that was in the router.

That doesn’t sound too bad….not brilliant but not horrendous. £28 a month for 100GB.

BUT it’s a UK sim ! They can change it, throttle it, decide you won’t get the £18 deal after a while, up it by 13.8% for inflation as Vodafone has just announced even in middle of contract.

Or you can go RWG and as Lenny HB is finding out it’s not so good.

Or you can go local EU sim as I do and always have done…I mentioned this on this thread or maybe another thread..can’t remember….got shouted at ☹️ so gave up.

Get the right one and it works across EU and in UK as well and you can “Park” it when you go back to UK.

Have a cheap GiffGaff Sim with 1GB data for a fiver to keep your UK number and jobs a good ‘un !

Why would anyone go with a UK sim !

Not through RWG, but I have used sim cards from Three, Vodafone, EE, and O2 in my MiF when in France, Germany, and Spain, and by far the Vodafone has been the most efficient.

My recent trip using the Popit EE sim card, required the occassional closing down and restarting of the MiFi, for it to reconnect to 4G. Not experienced that with Vodafone.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

What on earth are you on about? :Eeek: I am not shouting at anyone, but rather trying to help by giving information based on my experiences with UK registered sim cards in the EU, the most recent being the last 3 x months over winter.

If I remember correctly, you were being disrespectful towards others, who were contributing to that particular thread.
If I wanted to shout, I'D HAVE DONE IT LIKE THIS.

Regards,

Jock.

Moved south to by Rouen. Turned it on and the stupid thing took over an hour to start working again. Think I will just leave it on.

Will see how it goes but currently, it seems a bit naff!

Waiting a reply from RWG who I emailed yesterday and asked them to check the settings.

Might be getting a local SIM like Lenny HB soon.

You keep mentioning this SIM that works across the EU and UK could you please tell us which one?

Got it working again.

Put my phone sim in the Mifi all worked.
Put the RWG sim in my phone all worked and I was able to change the network, put it on Movistar.
Put it back in the Mifi and it's working fine on Movistar

Problem appears to be it won't let you change networks in the Mifi, I have a Huawei 5577C probably getting a bit long in the tooth now.

If I get more problems I'll just pop it into the second sim slot on my phone.

I use Vodafone 100GB £11.93 with £10 discount from normal price. Not sure if this offer still applies but I’ve had it for a couple of years now. It’s called “Red” I think.
