1In which roaming country ?
UK. We are off to Spain and Portugal next week. I posted what I had done because people seem to be putting it in their phones first to activate. I was just showing you don't need to. I will of course give updates on it's performance as we travel. Sorry for any confusion. In which roaming country ?
No probs…sounds to me like you might be better off with the Roaming data sim though…that’s all.UK. We are off to Spain and Portugal next week. I bought the wrong one (didn't see the data only sims... duh!) I sent them three emails asking to swap and had no reply which was surprising seeing as others, that are travelling, had had email conversations with them. Ho hum, we will see how it goes.No probs…sounds to me like you might be better off with the Roaming data sim though…that’s all.

I shouldn’t worry, the phone one working ok for me and don’t need a vpnI bought the wrong one (didn't see the data only sims... duh!) When I took the £20 Sim out, they debited my account immediately on placement of the order which I thought was a bit too sharp because you have to wait for the SIM to be delivered of courseHi All, I've tried to contact RWG for info on when the £20 version sim card that I'm about to purchase gets activated, from the date I purchase it or the date I put it in the phone and connect. Plus when the billing date starts - from activation or 30 days from my first payment. Sadly, no-one answers the contact number (automated voicemail), nor replies to the email. Has anyone else been successful recently talking to them or could answer any of my questions above please?
Edited - just seen yesterday's post, re contact, so maybe someone will answer the email..... However, if anyone can answer my questions it might help.. Ta
Email this morning from RWG requesting me to order the ‘Global’ data SIM from their webshop and they will refund the original ‘Vodafone’ purchase.
Wow, imagine Vodafone or Three giving that support.Arrived in Salzburg 17mbs on firestick 6mbs on phone. Voda sim in phone getting 120mbs. Had noticed this the other day and raised it with RWG why such a big difference had a response within the hour to say it had been escalated. Contacted last night to ask me for current location and screen shots of phone and firestick readings from Wi-Fi router. Re contacted this evening asking would I work live with them and server in morning from current location to identify the issue of difference between my normal phone sim and data sim purchased through them. Getting plenty enough through data sim to run firestick/phone etc but if they can make it better happy days.
Can I ask please, was that the phone sim, as opposed to the Global sim, and was it used in your phone, or in a router?Stopped in Port de Plaisance canalside Aire (Belgium) overnight, just off E42. Apprix. 14mb on Orange in phone with mobile hotspot on. (200Gb phone contract)
Hi Jock, I asked RWG this sort of question and here's my correspondence with them. My question is at the bottom of the page. Can I ask please, was that the phone sim, as opposed to the Global sim, and was it used in your phone, or in a router?
I would go for one of RWG's low data only sim cards, if I could then pay for the 200Gb Global bundle when I needed it, which would only be 4 x months of the year.
I have emailed them to ask, and awaiting their reply.
Cheers,
Jock.

My question is, do you have the option to freeze the account for a nominal fee for these periods of non use or would I have to close the account and purchase a fresh card when we travel again?
Kind regards
Paul
Great stuff, but phone or MiFi please?Currently sat in MOHO on a very damp (it's rained for the past 3hrs) mountain in the Parque Biologico de Vinhais in Portugal and we are getting 6mps. It connects to UK's Maidenhead server for the download test.
Hi Jock, it's the 200Gb phone sim package. Currently stopped in Ettlingen, just south of Karlsruhe. Its in a spare samsung phone (not 5g phone sadly) and the phone's hotspot is on. We connect about 3 or 4 devices to it during the day and although it dipped out (unsurprisingly) in the Black Forest area, its been quite good for our daily needs (podcasts, streamed radio, navigation and newspaper downloads etc.). Iplayer streams perfectly (run just now to check) and currently getting 23Mbps download speed as I write this and it's connected to Telkom.de. Hope that helps. Can I ask please, was that the phone sim, as opposed to the Global sim, and was it used in your phone, or in a router?
