First ones good the teaching/coaching a different ball game, you know and trust your own skills, but if you teach someone else they could do it wrong then come back and say you were negligent and course problems.

Personally, I don't think number 3 was a crap idea. I can understand some of the practical concerns that have been raised, but if I was a tad younger and physically able, I would have really valued someone with your skills and expertise coaching me in the ways of building and construction.
Final thought before you write off the idea totally:
1. You could have a carefully drafted contract that absolved you of liability.
2. You could probably get some bespoke indemnity insurance to protect against any claims.

Evening,,
bit of a bonus today, I picked up a day today, and tomorrow as well,, just laying a few drains, and tomorrow digging a large soakaway, with a mini digger, then finishing that, and drains, setting levels etc!
I was expecting a phone call today, about something I will share with you ( when I get the call) but it didn’t come,, hopefully it will tomorrow!
rained a bit on me, us, but not too bad,, hopefully it will stay dry for tomorrow!

I know nothing but nothing about building but I thought your ideas were a breath of fresh air ... could see someone between jobs, working part time or retired wanting to do a bit, but needing guidance, oversight or a senior building partner.
I have professional indemnity through my union ... no idea what it costs as it comes off monthly but it’s not a whole lot. In fact you probably have it any way incase of damage to customer’s property.

Well it’s half twelve and I made a mistake!
I got in, showered, had a brew, cooked a bit of dinner, sat in front of the tv and about 6.30 to 7 pm I fell asleep! Now I’ve just woken up and I’m screwed!! Will I be able to get another kip in before I go to work, we shall see ! Lol. Chat later! X

this evening I have a lot to say! ( unusually) Lolol.
About an hour ago, I received the phone call I was waiting with slim hope for!! Let me explain,,,,,
about three weeks ago, I was chatting to a bloke who knew quite a lot about me, circumstances, family etc and he said to me,,
Now your in Norwich Ian, why don’t you put yourself on the housing list? Lolololol was my reply,, single bloke, self employed, no chance I said,,,, Anyway,,,
I thought about it for a bit, and when I had a couple of days of two weeks ago, I decided to ring Norwich council, housing dept,,
I spoke to a lovely woman who asked me a few questions, then proceeded to tell me that the site I’m staying on is outside Norwich councils boundary, and if I wanted I could try Broadland council !! But basically, piss offyou got no chance!! Well that riled me up a bit, so I googled Broadland councils number,, gave them a ring and asked for the housing dept!!
a smashing bloke came on the phone, and proceeded to tell me what a great council Broadland was, much better than Norwich he said! Lol. So I then explained my situation, living in the Motorhome etc,, self employed, but haven’t had the greatest year for earnings and otherwise!! And he listened,, he then asked me if I could get into the office for a chat, and to fill a form in! This was two weeks ago Wednesday,,, well as I wasn’t working I said ok, I will come now!
got into the offices of Broadland council, asked for him on the desk and he came down within 5 mins, forms in hand!
I can fill them in now if that’s ok ? I said, I haven’t got a postal adress,, Ok, he said no problem! So I took half an hour, sat down and proceeded to write!!
mostly personal info, then on the back pages there was a huge long list of types of accommodation in various area all over Norfolk etc,, so I starting ticking,,, I ticked everything with one bed,and every studio appt, in any area, I even wrote in the information box that I would be more than happy to have a hard to let place, either out of the way for people, or maybe not in a nice area, then I signed and handed them back!!!!
I recieved a phone call from him later that day, explaining that it could take up to 2 years to get offered something, and I might be better going to Yarmouth council!! No thank you I replied, I don’t mind a wait!!!
then it got interesting,,, he said as an off the cuff remark, I see you don’t mind a hard to let place, and your over 55,, yes to both I said!! Well he said, I will keep you in mind! That’s that I thought, at least I’m on the list!!!
Now,,, this is amazing!!!! On Monday of this week, a lovely young woman from Broadland housing dept rang me!!!
mr young, she said,,,,,,, yes, I said,,,,, this is lee from Broadland housing,,,yes,,,, I believe your on the list for a property in our over 55 bracket? Yesss,,,,,,,and your living in a Motorhome in a field? Yeeeesss,,,
well mr young, I’m pleased to tell you, I have a brand new one bed flat in blofield, outside Norwich, would you be interested?
yeeesssss. I replied,,,, ok she said, I will ring you back on Wednesday ( yesterday) to tell you more!! I didn’t get a call on wed, so I thought it was too good to be true!!
sitting here an hour and a half ago, my phone rang,,,, mr young? Yeses I said,,, this is lee from the housing dept,,, yesss I said,,,
mr young, I have spoken to the housing association, and we are pleased to be able to offer you a brand new, one bed flat on a new development in blofield! If you want it,,,,,
too fkg right I want it!!!! I said,,,, andswiftly apologised for the french,,, she was laughing so much she had a coughing fit!!! When she calmed down, she told me that it was mine, the housing association are going to ring me to explain the costs etc, and to make sure I could afford it,, but there is one major drawback she said!! I knew it, I said, go on!!!! There not finished for another 4 to 6 weeks! So they literally are brand new? I asked,, oh yes she said,, one bed, ground floor flat, brand new, fully fitted kitchen, bathroom. Etc centrally heated the whole works!! Well I’ll be buggered I said,,,, I’ve only been on the list for two weeks!!
That’s the way it goes she said,, too small for a family,, over 55 block, and it’s yours!!
so people,,, I am going to become a fully paid up member of society, once again, with council tax, direct debits,, and fully fitted carpets! Lol. I still can’t quite believe it!!!
it’s about time I had a bit of luck!!
Now this has brought me to my second point, and not my happiest !!!
I am going to sell Helga, if anyone is interested! I’m not going to be greedy with the price, I think if I sold her now, with the few jobs she needs doing, I would be asking around £12.000
I will however be buying with the proceeds a mates merc sprinter (100,000) miles, which is quite tidy to convert for my travels, but not till the new year! So if anyone is interested or knows someone who wants a bargain, get In touch,,,,, I would obviously sell her a bit cheaper to a funster, or someone who doesn’t mind the odd job!

I think it’s fantastic news! Whatever happens with your Motorhome (van!) travels, you will always have a base. I think it will help you feel more settled in your life, and give you security! It doesn’t mean that you will never travel again, just for shorter journeys perhaps! It’s about time you had some good luck! Hope you can manage the finances, but if not, do not be too proud to accept help!

I will have to sell Helga, but only because it’s winter now, and I know I will be short of work over the Xmas and jan period! But I will survive,,,, Then when I get that sprinter you can all help me do her up! Lol.
