IAN and HELGA,,ONWARDS and UPWARDS!!

I'm delighted for you, Ian. You so deserve some good luck! But keep on posting!

Good luck Ian. Hope it all works out OK for you. Be good to have a UK base if you want to go off on off on some more travels.

I too was wondering if there was any urgent need to sell Helga... have you given up your wandering for good.
Yes obviously great to have a permanent base but jobs could take you anywhere...
...then there's holidays, cheaper with Helga across the Channel surely.
Why not store her for a few months until spring,

well the thing is lad,, I don’t really need a van as big as Helga, if I’ve got a flat,, I don’t need solar,, or a satellite, or a bathroom, I’m always on site, or plugged in,, and with the sprinter conversion, I can have a larger garage for tools etc if I need to go away!

Helga has been amazing to live in, but for holidays, weekends etc I don’t really need all she offers,, I will miss her though,,, ifshe goes,,, and I would have to store her somewhere,, that wouldn’t be much but still cost,,, I get a large parking space with the flat, and a van would be ok there! Xx

Good news!
It’s nice round that area.
You’ll get building jobs locally.....stop farting around, get your name out and about and the work will come.
Good luck.

Fair play to ya you old git.

Hope it’s all you hope for ?

Ian what lovely news to open up on the thread really pleased for you, now we can look Forward to your new adventures, what great timing warm and cosy through the winter, you are on to a winner there.

Hi Ian
So glad for you with the flat

As far as the business I think you are over thinking it.

You are obviously not just a good brickie but a proper builder.

I started out nearly 40 years ago building stone fireplaces with no experience - I built one for myself, then one for my mum, then a friend and decided to 'give it a go' as it earned me more than the taxi work. I took a photo of those jobs and got jobs through the classifieds photographing every new job building up a portfolio.

You should do the same, if you haven't taken photos your customers will have. Build a website with those and feedback from customers, advertise on Facebook etc

I'd start with extensions - until you build up capital work on day rate with the customer buying materials etc.

You are good at what you do, no need to change - just get some labour and aim to eventually get of the tools (the heavy stuff anyway)

Best of luck (y)

Good morning,,

I’ve been up since four, a bit misty out but dry!! Lovely!

rained off yesterday, but starting at 7,30 today, going to put a few tiles on a roof, to finish, then back to the mini digger for the drainage work at a large notcutts garden store in Norwich!

hope you have a good day,, chat later,, xx

Well done Ian, that’s good news for you. (y) I see it all unfolding now, house, rent bills, no Helga, meet lady friend, she moves in, more bills, debt, leave flat, buy camper van, go traveling, start a new thread on motorhome fun.:roflmto: (y)

Will done on getting that flat Ian. I've also stopped touring and in a flat in Hampshire. Still in a hotel waiting for the rental to go through as the van is too cold to live in being a pvc . I would probably change it but Andrew my partner isn't fully committed to the van life. I still have the van for occasional touring and need to keep the van in storage. It seems such a waste so im going to sell it. Now is not a good time though so it's in storage until the spring. I'll drive it occasionally but won't be using it to tour in until it gets warmer.

Well done Ian very pleased for you, as I said before if you keep your chin up and keep going it usually works out in the end. Enjoy your new home'

Wow (y) (y) was not expecting that! (the flat). What great news, no wonder you kept it under your hat.

I know it's not wise to put your address on a public forum but if you did, you'd have enough Xmas cards to paper your walls.

Looking forward to hearing more as moving date approaches. Will there be any Ian mishaps ::bigsmile:

Great news Ian we wish you every success for the future please keep posting.

I've been busy working silly hours, so not seen the great news until now. Looks like things are looking up.

I am a no MOHO member and people still speak to me, so you will be fine here if you sell Helga.

Congratulations Ian.

I hope you quickly settle into your new lifestyle.
