Ian and helga go south !!

The reason for this is twofold!! 1 I know where I am at home with regard to getting work, materials, advertising etc, 2 I can earn enough money in 6 or 7 months to organise myself for my next trip,ie, Motorhome wifi,, booster,, storage organisation,, thin out the crap I don't need,, get proper service for gas etc on helga,, canopy/awning for her at a decent price, I think I may get a complete set of tyres as well this year, mine are good for tread but nearly 7 years old now, and that can't be good!!!

I would like to change the flooring , I will keep the carpets somewhere for future but I want to lay a good cushion flooring type floor!!! Maybe a new mattress for the bed, get all the upholstery cleaned properly and thoughrouly!! So lots to get done and the last reason is the language, either Spanish or French or German I can make myself nicely understood in order to get a coffee in these countries but to take on a building job, with all that entails is biting of a bit more than I can chew!!

It's amazing how a walk without worrying where your going or ending up can clear your mind so that decisions can be made !!! I'm comfortable with what I have decided and it's not like I'm drifting here, I like to change my mind while driving about( like you have seen). Lol. I only have one more decision to make !!! That is where I intend to make a living in uk !!! Now that will take me to about driving off the ferry or Chunnel to decide,, who knows on the trip home I might meet a damsel in distress!! Lol.

Convenient for ferries to France and Spain too!

They cover the crap bricklaying job with a layer of cement and paint. If I were to ever buy a Spanish property I would try something like an IR camera to see what is going on underneath!

TBH with you Ian when I did a solo trip round Europe in the MH just over 2 months was enough for me! So well done for doing the time, good luck for the rest of the trip.

Hi Ian that all sounds like a good plan, sometimes it takes a bit of time on your own to work things out. If you intend to continue in the building trade in the UK then Polish could be a good choice for a language. ;) Enjoy......(y)

Even though I'm not quite finished campa, it has been hard sometimes! That's why I think Internet has become important for me!! In uk I was never interested!! And everyone on here has been supportive, so up till this min,,, it's been brilliant,, and I certainly am richer for the experience!! Places, cities I've seen, people I've met and chatted too, So far it's been more than I could have ever hoped for!!!! About end of April I think for uk. So I can get motivated to start working in May !!

I really like Germany in the MH, they too are well set up with Aires and are generally OK with sensible stop overs. Italy and Poland, make sure Helga has everything bolted together and down for the road systems !!!!!! I am going to Italy soon and will be taking *all* the toll roads possible to get to Milan.......

Hi dbk, thanks for the info ,, but it's been a long time since I've had to go back on site to lay bricks, I just hate sitework! Just another number!!!
I hopefully will be able to get a couple or 3 extensions and that would be enough to fund next winter away again !! But I will go anywhere that has lots of building going on, I thought about the south coast, possibly Kent, but I got time to make my mind up ! Cheers though that's interesting!! ( where's sherford). Lol.

I intend to start the cleaning process today, so helga can feel better about herself!!

Not too much to report at present cause not too much is going on !!!

Over the last few days it has been fun watching and listening to the Spanish here on holidays, once again I feel a bit sad of the way we have no such values of keeping family close, such as I have seen them do!!

Now I can use the site showers and loo again!!!! And I don't need to take my shovel with me!!!

So back to what I know, quiet sites, more vacancies so I can be comfy when I travel back,, it was all over in a flash....

Oh yes. I bought a coffee maker a couple of weeks ago
, put it somewhere,and I have just found it again so I'm going to try it today, it's one of those that you screw the bottom part off,fill the base with required amount of water, put coffee in the reMovable section and then just screw back together and put on stove, job, fire whatever!! No filters needed and there you have it. Hot fresh coffee!! So I will let you know how that goes!!

Ok. So a shower, then a coffee, then a bit of work ( or what passes for work here) and I will let you know about the nice relaxing day I'm having later!!

That's the sort of coffee maker we have...they make an excellent cup!

Most Spanish buildings are concrete frames so bricks or blocks are only used as infill so not load bearing and as they are rendered no point in laying them neat and tidy...BUSBY.

I have seen a few where the concrete structure has started to fail and the bricks just disintegrate into a nasty underminec jumble.
 
Wow Ian I've been off line meeting Funsters at Chester ( had a great time and met loads of lovely friendly people) and now i find you were nearly robbed ,scurried back to Spain and making a life changer again of coming home to the UK!!(y):sun::Grin:
Glad it's falling into place and I'm sure you will have plenty of work on your return and we all look forward to meeting you at a rally somewhere!!
 
Well you've made a big decision today Ian but enjoy travelling back through France. It's definitely a sensible idea to get the tyres changed if they're 7 years old.

Good morning,,,

Once again I slept well,,,
I was a bit bored last night so I thought I'd get a good start for today, so at about 7 I took helga for a steam clean, it only really takes the dust off though and doesn't do a brill job, but she looks a bit better from the outside!!

So this morning I'm going to empty her out, carpets, seats etc and all the crap I got over the table!! Then I shall clean doors, Polish, and wash floors !!

The bad news however is,,, I put a load of washing in just now, all good till I looked right at the dryers,, none of them are working!! And it's not very sunny here or warm,, so it may be a drama getting stuff dry!!! Still I'm away in Spain, not working, eating well, sleeping well, living like a millionaire on egg and bacon money!! So it ain't all bad, and if that's my biggest drama today, I'm sure I will get over it!!!!

So, in 35 mins I have to get washing out, then we will see!! And I pooped my head in the toilets and showers while I was there,, I must say the cleaners have played a blinder,, shower and shave in there later after cleaning all done!!

So I hope the sun comes out, cause it would be handy to dry clothes and stuff, I don't like travelling with damp gear!!

So if all goes to plan today, all sorted and ready for the off tomorrow! Gonna do gib for diesel and fags and then God knows but I want to see Gus, then totana for a day or so! And iceland again!!!

Now I'm gonna have a brew, strip carpets out, and then start clean up,,

Sounds a whole lot more fun than sitting in my office with not very much to do, wondering how on earth people manage to take 3+ months to do something that should take a week or two! I'd better stop there before I really get started on a proper rant! :(

It's a real struggle deciding what not to do oneman!! And oh how I miss working in a hole laying bricks in the snow and the rain!! Anyway have a good day in your office doing what I'm doing( nothing) !! Oh gotta go. Suns coming out. What's a bloke to do?? Xx
 
All cleaned inside. Just once more over the floor with the mop!! New bedding on! Cupboards cleaned! She smells bloody gorgeous inside now!!

Gonna give sofa and cushions a good battering now!!

Then start putting stuff back!! And throwing some crap out!!

Quite therapeutic this cleaning lark!!! Lol
