Ian and helga go south !!

Well a recap may be called for, it's a long time since this started, what is the ultimate plan , how long are you intending staying away, because you have got through loads of stuff at a hectic pace, is this because you have a timescale, or just your normal self, got to be on the go, you were planning on Portugal , is that still the plan , in fact what is the plan!
If you have plenty time why rush , stay where you are , rent a car as one of your post suggested, or if you have got to be back at a certain time, it seems you have done most of the place you are at, and been there longer than anywhere else, move on , plenty golf on the algarve(y):)

Stick to your most recent plan, hire a car for a couple of weeks, do all your sightseeing, if Mr Golf is back at the end of it you can do some more golfing before moving off.

If you'd hired a car while your golfing buddy was around it would have spent most of the time in the golf course car park!

Agree with onemanandhisdog - stay 2 weeks, explore area with car (bound to bring some new adventures, stories for those that now can't enjoy life without reading about your escapades!!! and if he's not back by then you move on. Don't forget the reason we all love motor homing is that we can change plans and come and go as we please. Although it is good to seek other's advice and bounce ideas it's your freedom that you should be appreciating and pleasing yourself is the number 1 priority. It has been so good to see you found somewhere where you are happy so I would stay until you don't feel happy there anymore and then move on - easy!!!!

Yes I appreciate all comments and I will reply to the question of time !! I have no time scale at all. I have a budget of £ 20,000 of which I have spent some!!
I do not intend to return to uk yet !! I want to go back on myself and into France in late April ( or when weather improves) to meet a mate who is coming into the canals on his boat! Now he too is a builder and is quite confident, after doing it before, that we will get a bit of work in France, for the English that have bought houses etc!!

However I have a mate in Germany who is laying bricks and he is earning really good money! He has asked me to go there and work with him if I want to!!!

I have to be back for mot on helga on 11 th December, otherwise I don't have to return at all !!

However if I decide to return to uk I will have to do it before I spend the budget! I would need at least £5,000 to start over there again, for little van etc, advertising, depending on where I go ,, you see the beauty of helga is. She can take me anywhere in uk or Europe where there is work , and I won't have anything more than costs of staying on sites somewhere!! So that is the plan!! NO PLAN AT ALL. IT JUST DEPENDS ON BUDGET !! And if it's getting tight I will just have to work !! That's it really. So please don't think I had a set plan. I'm sick of plans and preparation,, I have been planning people's lives , work etc for years. And now I don't have to!!! Xxxx

Stay where you are for a couple of days to explore etc, then move on to explore somewhere else. You can always catch up with your golf buddy on the return journey of you choose. Happy travels.

Ian I agree entirely with you forget about plans and dead lines just do as you have been doing whatever feels right to you, you need no justification you are in a position to take life as it comes, go with your instincts they have worked for you up to now.
Try and do it so your money stretches useing the ASCI etc, otherwise keep doing what you have it's working fine.

Oh and I had a brilliant idea last night!! I thought I would do some washing, while everyone was out eating. So then machines are free !!! So I packed washing in a bag, got my tablet ( Ariel) and went to lavandaria. All good, empty!! Got first machine, put washing and tablet in closed door, pressed start and it came up 38 mins. Ok so I went to get a brew!!

Went back with 2 euros( very reasonable) for dryer and put clothes in dryer!! Without thinking closed door put money in and left! Machine said 1 hour !!

Upon return to dryer I was well pleased. Started to take washing out,, ooo it was lovely and warm started folding clothes into bag and thought,, bloody cheek !! Some bugger has put his kids clothes in here to dry!! Got to be a Frenchman !! Well it wasn't! I'm afraid to say I washed and dried 2 new jumpers and 2 pairs of combat trousers with the rest and now the jumpers and trousers would fit ( and look very good on I might add). Any one of the Severn dwarves !!!!! Bloody typical. New clothes all shrunk!! I tried jumpers on and my head nearly exploded!! I could get trousers on round my waste, just but it seems there is now a good six inches between the bottom of my combats and top of shoes!! I looked like a chimney sweep kid from Victorian times !!!! Xx still you live and learn !!

Ian you do remember what you said at the very beginning of the thread when you sold the house, about all the stuff you had bought and never used. We have a Funster @Dazzlin on here a great young retired couple (in their 40's). They have been full timing for a couple of years and he amazed me if he buys anything new then something the same has to be got rid of. We were in Morocco with them and he bought some new shoes, but his old ones had to go (a morrocan soon claimed them) but not a bad rule for fulltiming.

Just chill and enjoy Ian.

We said we would take on odd jobs or part time work if we needed to when we retired but so far haven't needed to. :) We don't smoke or drink or eat out at fancy restaurants which does help with the expenses.

Full dining set of plates, bowls etc! All bloody crap !! I will get sorted eventually !! Lol.

The clothes should fit if you have shrunk after the bed episode!
I loved Auf Weiderseun Pet but didn't they get into all sorts of bother? Will suit you then!!

The Iberian equivalent of a car boot sale is needed Ian. :)

I once had a client who only ever had one of everything. Single man who lived alone. If he was given a set of anything he would keep one and throw the rest away.

Yes, one pair of each. He would wash them in the evening and hand them to dry, putting them on in the morning, dry or not.

He had one chair in his house, one cup, one plate etc etc.

Ian,
With apologies, but have you asked at reception of the site you are on if they have ACSI books? We picked ours up at the Caceres site in Spain
If not, here is a link to all the ACSI sites in Cadiz Province to perhaps contact to ask if they stock the books. Bear in mind not all of them will be open at this time of the year.

Plan C is perhaps order one from ACSI themselves as they post all over Europe but perhaps after waiting for your mail last time maybe not a good idea.
