Ian and helga go south !!

Morning Ian, hope all goes well changing your boots, nothing worse than boots that rub, you haven't got anything to tell us about a clothes line have you Ian :rolleyes: enjoy your day. :)
 
You think you've had a bad day , we bumped into some old friends who invited us in, bring the dog in they said so first thing he try's to do a poo in their hall OUT I shout bundled him in the car, went back in house got a cup of tea managed to spill it all over my shirt and coat ! doing well here I thought , anyway when we got to leave looked in car and oh yes dog had been sick in back so hopefully that's the 3 things, I think I'll go back to bed and get up again

Well that was easy !!! Got a bus outside campsite into town, was told where to get off by driver for il court inglese! The lying git !! Got of bus, had a quick look round and set off in the general direction !! 2 hours after I got of the bus I was standing outside il court inglese,, so what I hear you say. Well there are 2 of them in Granada city centre and it just so happens that I needed the other one !! So after turning round, drinking a strong coffee I set off again !! Well let me tell you if you can't find a youngster that speaks English at school your screwed!!

Now I can understand a bit of the old Spanish now, but only when it's spoken at a pace fit for a retard!! ( the retard being in this case me) and let me tell you it's quite uncomfortable standing in a city centre trying to catch the eye and attention of young boys and girls !! In fact I gave up when I swear one of them screamed. Policia, policia!! flip me I nearly ran away !!

Well in the end a young girl collecting for charity saw what agonies I was going through and told me the general direction I should go, and she also told the youngster what I was after so no lasting damage was done!!!

Christ I thought as I was walking away. How lucky was I not to get nicked for trying to pick up kids on the street!! I shivered thinking of the consequences!!

So I walked for another half hour finally arriving at my destination I headed into the shop to change the boots!!! Got to desired floor. 2nd, and walked to the shoe dept,, easy so far,,, luckily enough it wasn't busy and there was a woman of middle age standing by the till ( like so many others here, she was looking lovely! ) so I'm my best Spanish I said. Senorita, habla inglese possibly ? No habla inglese! She scowled ( must have been a bad weekend I suppose) Well I just went for it !!!! Senorita I bought these boots here on Saturday and they are a bit small, can I change them? Ke ke she said ( now I know that means what!)
Can I change. Cambio,, these boots for mas grande size!!! So she knew what I meant but walked off to the storeroom out of site !!!

So I am now standing there wondering what's going on !! 2 mins later she came back with a new pair of boots, put them in front of me and said Bally ( wich means ok) well I opened the box and looked at them and they were the same style, colour, make etc all good but they were a size 12 !! I take a 9 !!! No Bally I said and proceeded to tell her my size, Well that wasn't going down to well so she got some help from a bloke opposite who was selling shirts and he spoke a bit of English!! Well after tooing and frowing all was good , They didn't have that boot in the next half size up so she bought me the only ones she had, and of course I did ask for a much bigger pair!! In the end I got a pair of different colour, style boots from a different maker but they do fit and feel ok! The bonus is they were 59 quid cheaper than the timberlands so I can put up with that !!

So now I have got out the shop and am sitting in a coffee shop opposite having cafe con leche and a slice of cake !! Thinking about my new boots and the fact that I must have been lucky not to get locked up for trying to solicit kids !!!!

I'm going to get a taxi back in a bit and have an afternoon washing and doing some cleaning, also going to have a look at map regards Seville and Cadiz, which do I go to first etc !! So chat later. Ian.

Good evening!!! I am nicely comfortable in helga,, heating is on, lovely,,,, Got 2 loads of washing done and all dried, tumble drier is a must here!!

So tomorrow I'm going to head and stay at Malaga overnight in an air I have seen in my book!! And that's because I'm going to have a drive to Gibraltar, to do some girly cheap shopping!! Lol.

Then I will head , after gib to Cadiz, then saville!! I'm not going to rush but I'm nearly at Portugal then so that's good!! Will check out early tomorrow and take a slow drive, shame though cause this is the best internet I have had on any site so far!! ( but the coldest, wettest weather). Still it has been lovely seeing Granada and I really can't say I wouldn't come back! It's cool!! All the small side streets, buildings, cafes, bars, yes it's been great to visit !! I reccommend it!!! I was told that in mojaca rob, and apparently diesel is cheaper there too! If it's worth taking helga in?? I may just find the closest aire and walk in ? Someone said it was easier??

It may well be easier to walk in. We've only been a couple of times - by car - and the queues have been quite long, so time-consuming. If you go by foot you should get in a lot quicker. The car queue is like a Disney queue, so you don't realise how long it is until you're actually in it!

Double agree we went in with the van, never so glad to get out so so narrow, I'd go in on foot get a taxi perhaps. :)
 
Yes ok, I will walk in. I havnt got much to get and its not gonna be hard to carry!! Thanks carol, rob, val.
 
Do you have a backpack Ian? We find ours invaluable for when we want just a small amount of shopping. Much more comfortable to carry stuff on your back than have carrier bags cutting into your hands and making yours arms ache.

We parked at the football stadium in La Linea. From there it is about ten minutes to the Gibraltar border on foot. I understand there is a new aire in La Linea which may be nearer still to the border.

Carol, where did you park? When we went, by car, we parked in the multi-story close to Casemates Square. Obviously we couldn't have taken a MH in there! Diesel is cheaper in Gibraltar but where could Ian park if he decided to drive in?

Rob I just thought I could drive into morrisons cause I was told there is a garage there? but I'm not gonna bother mate to be honest,, less stress if I walk in. And I can have a good look round then!! Don't worry about it mate, X

We did not go back in drove all around but there's no pleasure in it, we were glad to get out. We were on the way to Morocco

Haha a lady called Cath just joined and said someone leaving drove off with a washing line attached to a lamp post!! We all thought it was you but you weren't saying!!:rofl::rofl:
