Ian and helga go south !!

There is a ticket collection office at the main entrance - best to get there early as the queue can be long. Don't forget your ID and card used for payment
There are some bars and restaurants by the entrance.
Enjoy your day !
Where would I be without you ? Lol

I had a woman like on that coffee, very bitter and needed sweetening up all the time

Be careful Ian, bad luck to put new shoes on a table - well it is according to my wife!

Mike
funnily enough this is my only superstition, any type of footwear, but who would want to put mucky footwear on a table anyway. Thing is can't stand new in the box and bag ones on a table either.

Right I'm well pissed off now !!! Got my ticket for Alhambra, all sorted at ticket office etc no drama. Cheap 15 euros!! Got ticket and proceeded to ask where the palaces are! Got short shrift from a Spanish bloke who in his defence was soaking wet, cause it's hammering down ! Looked at a board for directions, so worn and wet couldn't see a thing!! So another spaniard with his wife or whatever pointed for me to go down a cobbled steep hill, Well he must be laughing his bollocks off cause he sent me outside the place !! Now I'm sitting in a restaurant having some piella, lovely. And I have to make a decision as to going all the way back up the bloody hill to have another go? And I have to be honest im well pissed of with that idea!!! So the choice is mine but the bad luck continues!! Must be payback from having such a good night out last night!!

Trust my luck to have met the only Spanish comedian in the Alhambra!! And what a stupid set up! No clear directions no signs nada!! Well I'm happily eating now and to be honest I'm that pissed off I may just jack it in today!!

I just don't know if I can handle those steps going back up!! I will let you know what I decide later!! Xx

Have just looked at my guide book(s), and there are restaurants in the Alhambra, are you sure you went out of it? Once past the ticket office I would think you are on track. What's the restaurant called?

Once. . . a long time ago. . . I thought how nice it would be to meet you Ian.(y)
I begin to think that might be the most dangerous thing to happen.
Walking disaster area seems a better name than Ianthebuilder.
I think this forum should change it's name to MotorHomeCockUp.com You and David58 with his latest internal flood could be founder members.:)
Take car for all our sakes.

Well life is full of surprises and I am getting lots!! And what's more for the occasions I find myself in pain or just perplexed I am having the best adventure of my life to date !! And I will just say that all the dramas and misdemeanours I had up to yesterday mattered not one bit, in fact when I told my story so far to a couple of Canadian girls I met they were laughing so much that they wouldn't let me go !! Well one of them. That was UNTILL 8,30 this morning !!!! I LOVE GRANADA !!

Of course I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea!! There are 2 or 3 streets here that are open for food and drink for 24 hrs and that's what we all were doing !!! Of course you knew or thought that didn't you?? Lol. And my next adventure , if I get through this alive may well be in Canada!!! Lol

Sun still out down Águilas this morning. Too hot actually & glad it was blowing a gale to stop sweating. Should have stayed there Ian.

It has been raining here all day Gus. And ten mins ago hailstones as big as golf balls ! But it's fantastic mate. I will be back in the sun soon !! Lol Hope your ok mate !!!

Dont worry too much missing Alhambra, gardens are much better than palace. When youve seen one area of plasterwork the rest are similar. Dont miss out on Cardoba though, the mosque now cathedral is a structure that a builder can only admire. Much smaller town than Granada or Seville, but we fell in love with the place. Micro brewery helped.

Check your roof, with your luck hailstones that large could have left dents.

I'm very glad I ticked the box of seeing Alhambra but I was very surprised when the guide told us that most of the existing buildings aren't that old.
It's a bit like Trigger's Broom.
The Islamic designs & decoration. Moorish architecture. All repaired, rebuilt and renewed as needed.
Art & symbolism is what's relevant, not age.
Was worth seeing, glad I did. Just not sure it's as great as it's hyped up to be...

Thanks, I'm not to upset I missed it really, I had a good look at some gardens on the way down they were pretty cool !! So I'm going to do a couple more days here ( Granada city) then on to wheeever, Cadiz, Seville I will have a look at map tomorrow and plan some sort of route!!

Even two Spanish taxi drivers have told me that Seville is better than Granada!! Lol. I like the shopping here though!

You must be exhausted if you were out all night until 8.30am!! Glad you had a great night !:sneaky:

I will be asleep in an hour I think anthea. And I will prob sleep till tomorrow ! I'm meeting the girls for lunch tomorrow so I might wake up for that !! Lol. And I'm afraid those new boots are rubbing so I'm going to change them tomorrow!! Cheers,, Ian xx

Rub a bar of dry soap on all the bits that rub it's always worked for me and a tip from my granny!

edit...looks rude but I meant your boots!:D

Plenty of other Moorish castles in the area, if you're so minded. Perhaps not so 'great' as Alhambra, certainly not the cachet but certainly less tourists so you might get a chance to appreciate what you're looking at, at absorb the atmosphere without being jostled, bumped & hurried along by the guides...

I actually thought about damage j , so I put a couple of dust sheets up over central skylight and solar panels. I got no water coming they skylight so must have worked I will take all off in a little while, it's only raining now!!! Lol

And I'm glad to say that the heating system so far is working lovely! I hope no permanent damage was done with explosion !! So when I get my head together later, after another six or seven cups of tea I will be venturing back into town to change my boots and have another look round!! Have a good morning !!!

Why do I get the feeling there could be another humorous story in the offing, Englishman trying to change boots in Spanish shop, using his best Spanglish! I'm chuckling already! ::bigsmile:

Well Ian, you sure have brightened our winter following your adventures. I am so jealous I hope we have as much fun when it is our time. keep posting, and good luck with changing the boots.
