Ian and helga go south !!

Bugger me. I'm sitting in scallops now waiting for my big breakfast and there's 2 policemen looking at helga! And taking pictures!! I'm not going over to them but I think I will have my grub and then do the off!!! I don't need to get arrested for vagrancy today! ( well not in Spain, England would be ok). I'm afraid I can't quite see myself sharing a cell with Pablo the mass murderer of javea and his sidekick Mrs Pablo !!!
 
Keep you receipt for your coffee Ian. That way you can tell them you had stopped for a coffee and not to camp.

Also make sure you leave NOTHING outside the van when parked in Spain. Step needs to be retracted. Door only open when you are leaving or entering the van and no windows open or you are "camping" and not parking.
 
Cheers puddle, I finished my grub and now I shall pay, keep receipt and go!! Helga is the only one there now and looks a bit lonely so I'm gonna start her up and move on !!

Javea was,, is lovely but I just don't feel like I want to be sgt haviers bitch for the night !!!! Will update when I'm somewhere else !! Adios amigos!!
 
If its not too late Ian, there is a large parking area outside El Naranjal campsite. When we were there a couple of weeks ago someone kept coming and going (Brit) staying the odd night on there.

Maybe the other vans knew something you did not....Sounds like you might get a nasty fine in the post!

Just had a look on Google Maps and there are a couple of likely places to stay. One in Calle Bruselas (38.771144, 0.182748) and the other in Calle Cannes (38.773888, 0.182109) both close to the El Naranjal campsite.

head down to moraira there is a massive car park there and an unmade overflow behind it,i have seen vans parked there before and if it is just for the night shouldn't be a problem

Can't be done. Illegal to differentiate between types of vehicles. If it didn't have anything outside & it is daylight then it is just parked same as a car.
What Ian should have done & would be advised to do in future is to photograph them photographing the van .That would prove he was sat in a restaurant.

I had a couple try it on with me here where I live recently. Nothing upsets me more than people who are being paid to do a job & who don't know the laws or even worse are trying it on.

I would think that photographing the police was a sure way of antagonising them and is probably an offence in Spain
 
Ok I have moved!! I spoke to a policeman up the road and it seems I'm ok. From what I understood the vans that were there, were there for as much as 3 weeks!! They didn't take a picture they were checking they didn't already have one of helga! They took pictures of all they moved on !! Bonus I'm fine, I did show receipt for food though and they said ok!!

So I went to get auto gas about an hour and a half from javia towards Murcia and I'm pleased to say my botched job fitting worked a treat!! And I also exchanged a bottle for my new outside job thingy!!


I have found a really good campsite called la marina, right on the coast in Alicante! It's a bit dear I suppose but anything is if it's not an aire Lol. But it's got the lot!! Entertainment, beach ( naked Germans and all) restaurants, even toilets!! Oh and cafes and free internet!! So I said I will stay here 4 or 5 days. I like the vibe!!

I have a massive pitch as well so I got no dramas putting my dust sheet down my small table and 2 chairs!! When I look at these Germans Motorhomes I am pleased I can reduce their value by simply parking next door!! Lol.

Helga is loving being with all her countrymen and is fending off an old Hymer as we speak!! She just loves the attention!! So I will have an update later after food and maybe some entertainment!! ( I hope it's not German karaoke) Hasta luego! Ian xxx

Sounds a great site! Enjoy and have fun! We have a breathable mat we put down and does keep the dust off but your dust sheet sounds great!
Don't let Helga go nude like those other Germans it won't be good for her chassis!!;) Had to laugh at DBK he thought Helga was a real lady!!:D Well she is to us all and we know you love her as do we all!!
 
Ok all I am now hiding in helga! All lights off and thinking I am now going to have to leave the site,, due to embarrassment!!!!

So I decided to take the bike down to the beach to see the sea !!! The road is amazing, all well surfaced, and a bonus all downhill,,, so of I go gathering speed as I went, put the bike into 6th gear and was flying!!! Came to the beach at the end of the road where there is a small incline onto the sand !! No problem I thought at this pace I will just drift up the dune!!!!

Well I took the power off and was gliding onto the sand when I was only about a foot onto it and it was deeper than I thought ,, so the bikes front wheel went down and left, I didn't !! I carried on over the handle bars and nearly killed a little terrier who was being walked by a group of about 15 Germans!! I must have gone about 8 to 10 feet in the air!! I wasn't at all hurt but the laughter from the Germans as they all proceeded to pick me up and dust me off will haunt me forever!!!

How come I'm on a big tyres mountain bike with Chunky wheels and it doesn't go through sand ???


When oh when am I gonna get a bit of luck ???? This bloody trip is going to kill me !!!! Unbelievable!!
 
Do you have the acsi card and book ? It makes sites a lot cheaper out of season if they are part of the scheme .

Garza I got nothing mate!! Except a jumper and ears full of sand and a slightly more battered ego!! I suppose I can only get them in England? Bloody typical !!

Ian, you can buy ACSI books at some big camp sites. We saw them for sale the other day in a caravan repairers in Elche,which is not far from Alicante, if you want I will get the address from my friend in the morning?

Hi Ian, we have just missed you, only left a couple of days ago !! If you want like tapas there is a small place along the same road as the campsite. Turn right outside the camp. A few yards along the main road you will see a few, 'rustic' buildings on your right. One should have a small awning over the door with 'Las Carmelias' (or similar), this is your place. It is open from 0500 - 1400 + 1700 - 2000. It is a family run establishment with MANY tapas available and, oh, don't forget to take an empty water bottle to fill up with some very cheap wine ! Also if you want a cheap, English breakfast, continue on that road, cross the traffic lights and after a few yards you will see a small park on your left (easy parking on your right), walk up the shallow steps and at the top is a small place called 'Pat's Place'. Buen Aprovece !

I think they sold them opposite villa sol in the campshop in Benidorm. If you go to a site and see an acsi sign ask if they sell the book. Costs about 11 euro from memory and saves you a fortune on campsites that accept it.

Ie without acsi 36 euro a night. With acsi same site same pitch with elec everything 16 euro a night. Worth keeping your eyes open for a book or get someone to post you one
