Ian and helga go south !!

I think they sold them opposite villa sol in the campshop in Benidorm. If you go to a site and see an acsi sign ask if they sell the book. Costs about 11 euro from memory and saves you a fortune on campsites that accept it.

Ie without acsi 36 euro a night. With acsi same site same pitch with elec everything 16 euro a night. Worth keeping your eyes open for a book or get someone to post you o. Sounds like a good idea ! I could do with something going right!!

Hi Ian, we have just missed you, only left a couple of days ago !! If you want like tapas there is a small place along the same road as the campsite. Turn right outside the camp. A few yards along the main road you will see a few, 'rustic' buildings on your right. One should have a small awning over the door with 'Las Carmelias' (or similar), this is your place. It is open from 0500 - 1400 + 1700 - 2000. It is a family run establishment with MANY tapas available and, oh, don't forget to take an empty water bottle to fill up with some very cheap wine ! Also if you want a cheap, English breakfast, continue on that road, cross the traffic lights and after a few yards you will see a small park on your left (easy parking on your right), walk up the shallow steps and at the top is a small place called 'Pat's Place'. Buen Aprovece !

oops, sorry posted that twice
Yes, Ian
It's an original tapas bar for the 'workers' however, slightly 'blurred' around the edges these days as the word has got out. I will put money on it that some if not all of your German neighbours will be there too !!

If you like red wine try the 'vino vieja' and ask Abuela (Grandma she cuts up the bread) for her 'abula hierbes' a BIG p.s. do not drive and if walking wear a reflective jacket. Have a great time, Ian

Ian, you can buy ACSI books at some big camp sites. We saw them for sale the other day in a caravan repairers in Elche, which is not far from Alicante, if you want I will get the address from my friend in the morning?
That would be great parky I appreciate it. X

Not sure, I have never visited the site but it may be worth a look as it's only 5 minutes from the site I believe it is Dutch owned. JIC here are the directions.
Out of the campsite, turn right. At the traffic lights turn left toward the Urbanisation. Continue up the hill, past the builders merchant, garage and garden centre (all on your left). Immediately after the garden centre (the road bears to the right) there is a large driveway gate. The name 'La Escuera' is emblazoned on the property. You will see the ACSI flag flying..... good luck

Parky LOL, can't stand him, but I will get the address in the morning for you (y)

I would think that photographing the police was a sure way of antagonising them and is probably an offence in Spain
They'll tell you it is but it isn't.

I carried on over the handle bars and nearly killed a little terrier who was being walked by a group of about 15 Germans!! I must have gone about 8 to 10 feet in the air!! I wasn't at all hurt but the laughter from the Germans as they all proceeded to pick me up and dust me off will haunt me forever!!!

!!
"was is das ?"
"Das is ein englander "
Actung ankommend:LOL:

Yes they all do around here. So you can have your brandy on the way to work.

I hope you find one open as it's Sunday

I didn't realise you were going to move so far as if you had come down to the El Atlet ,Alicante airport turn off & taken it & continued past & all the way down to bottom , which is about 3 kms then left towards Alicante . After about 2kms at the lights you can turn right , signposted Urbanova, & park right on the beach there. Normally about 8-10 dutch , belgians, german vans.Or carry on to just before the First tower block, Urbanova 6 about 500metres, & the surfers/fishermen Brits tend to park there. It is where I was last week walking the dog. Few bars/restaurants open along front during day.
Or if you don't want to be right on the beach at same traffic lights do a left & you can park next to the Desalination plant.:D

Good morning all,, I shall keep you updated today throughout! I do hope you won't be bored or disappointed !! I will be doing nothing today, not much walking, no cycling, and only venturing up the top of the site for the occasional coffee etc!! Today I have decided is going to be pain free !!

I am on a massive pitch, lots of room for chairs table etc,, own water supply,, own grey waste drain! Own selection of plants, a lovely garden wall to the rear of the property, south facing patio area, dropped kerb to the front of property , and a small yet mature tree to the rear left corner of the garden area!!

The neighbours all seem to be friendly, and I'm happy to report no dogs in the vacinity!!! I have nailed my new groundsheet down, and I didn't break any knuckles ,,,

I may venture ( it depends on how I feel) to a tapas bar I have been told about just up the road, on the other hand I may not!!! There is a supermarket on site and I have been told it will be open also!!

So as I sit here drinking my first cup of Yorkshire tea of the day. Or as we proffessional travellers like to call it. Brew of del dea!! I ponder on my many injuries and close calls so far! I have no long lasting disfiguring scars( luckily) and no brain damage (apart from the existing) Bonus!!

I have also come to the conclusion that I wouldn't have made it even this far without the advice, help, criticism of many of you from this site and I thank my lucky and often seen stars for that!!

So I would like to take this opportunity whilst still breathing and not visiting the main road yet, to say Thankyou for everything so far, your comments have made me smile lots when read ,and kept me going when I have had the odd rain cloud in my small but perfectly formed brain!! I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can on this trip and then the rest back in the uk ( if I'm not blackballed from any meets, shows etc) ( did you get it? Blackballed? Lol)
Chat later,, have a lovely pain free day !! I will .... Ian and helga,, XXX.

Good morning Ian. :)

your comments have made me smile lots when read ,
It works both ways Ian, as it's your posts that have brightened up many a dull winter's day, for lots of us back here in the UK, and we thank you for that. (y)

Glad to read that you are unlikely to be "black balled" after all.

Have a good one pal,

Jock. :)

Good Morning Ian, sounds like a plan, I have a cunning idea for you, as this is going to be your chosen way of life. If you were to buy a good size hard backed note book which each page could be numbered, you could then get your maps any co ordinates and good stop overs, place names, could be noted on the page number in your book that corresponds with your maps.

Over time you will build up a easy reference of information as tour around. I know many computer Savy people have the information on their phones, tablets, but sometimes notes in a book can prove very handy. Something to ponder on as you relax today. I always make notes on the pages of my maps as well with places marked out they are my maps so I can write on them as I like, always amazes me when people say oh fancy writing on a book , I do that with bird books making a note of what I have seen and where, also wild flower books as well.

Have a great day your living a dream thank you for sharing it.

Morning Ian I bet your weather is fantastic compared to ours ! Still dark here ! You are ahead of us in time ! Enjoy your brew in the sun and I'm sure you won't be just sitting there all day ! Love your blackball story  No mishaps today fingers crossed! You have made us all laugh with your antics and look forward to hearing more of your adventures but not painful I hope!! Stay safe !! Have a great day

Ian, if the rain (or water flow from the roof and awning bracket) is coming down against the sliding cab window, watch out for the channel filling up and overflowing into the cab. (Later models had a rubber seal instead of a brush seal fitted, because of this problem).
There are 3 x drain holes in the sliding window frame channel, but often they can't drain quick enough, pending the amount of rainfall.
I've had to redirect the water flow from the roof on ours, away from the window using a short length of Fiamma Rain Guard.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Same thing happens on my Rapido Jock, I have adjusted the level to send the water to the opposite side for now but may fit a Rain Guard when I get home.
Cheers

Yes Ed, it's not normally a problem if the front is up on ramps, but it's can be a big problem if not, hence the Rain Guard. It first happened in Southern Ireland, and the water was coming in and running down inside the locker containing the Elektrobloc.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Morning Ian, perhaps a rest in the on site spa is called for to ease those aches and pains you seem to be accumulating.:cooler:
