Ian and helga go south !!

Morning,,,,,,a thought occurred to me last night (yes your right,I don't get many!) About the satellite dish and gubbins with various remotes I have in my TV cupboard,,who would I talk to about whether it is a working system or not,in spain I mean? I am wondering when I get the v 5 for helga sent from UK it will have the previous owners details on it I think? Is it easy to get in touch with someone who has had a vehicle previously to you? It seems a shame to have all this stuff on the roof and not use it,or at least see what the cost would be to reinstate it,if it can be done? Now enjoying my fifth cup of Yorkshire of the morning, and a choice biscuit, ,I didn't eat yesterday and I'm bloody starving,,,knew I should have gone to supermarcardo !,,

Armytwowheels got a box from seanoo that lets them see all the brit channels,he is on the Spanish coast somewhere.Just searched for him and it looks like he is in Portugal.

Funny enough I have a digibox, I don't know why but I bought one with me!! I just need to know how all sat stuff works, if indeed it does? Cheers all.

Hi Ian

It might be worth putting a description or a couple of pictures of what you have already.

I guess a dish on the roof, then there will be a control box inside somewhere and a tuner box unless it was rigged to modern TV with a built in sat decoder (unlikely).

How cheap? And when can you get here!!! Babe!! Lol
Thank you darling! How can I ever repay you? You are and always have been the love of my life ! Xx

See you just can't help it Ian..... asking when I can get there (I assume to do the cooking and mending and ironing) but you then tell another lady she is the love of your life!!!!! and in public!

I will be buying my own lime and soda then......

Ahhhh. I thought I sent sue a private message baby!!! Sussed out, I'm gutted to be honest. We could have been good together, mind you nothing would get cooked or mended or cleaned by the sound of it!! We would have to live purely on love alone!!!! Xx

Ok took a couple of pics Sat dish on roof is oyster, and gibbons inside is I don't know what? image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegAnd here is my new bike after its very first maiden voyage!!! My arse hurts though, why are saddles so uncomfortable??

Haha. The exes torso !! Just for company!! I left the head in tortosa!!

It's probably uncomfortable if you haven't cycled much, you have got a soft arris! Also the saddle is too high at the front, make sure you have the saddle at the right height.Get on the bike and prop yourself against that tree, what you want is your insole to just brush the pedal. And get a pair of padded cycle shorts, you can ones that are just like a liner that you wear under ordinary shorts. On the satellite front I wouldn't bother trying to fire it up on that pitch,it needs a clear view to pick up the signal. You won't get any bbc or itv where you are with that dish, although you will get bbc world news and sky news on 19.2e.

I'm only going from memory but a friend of mine had an oyster one & there was a panel for turning on etc; If it is a manual one , below the dish there would be some means of raising it & rotating it to pick up the satellite. If it is auto there should be another panel for turning on

there are a few controls in the cupboard but they don't seem to do anything. I will get it sorted somewhere!

I can see the problem there mate.....your plug socket is upside down! :giggler:
Yes I wonder why they did that? Lol. There is a really tiny ( thin ) 12 v socket next to it as well. But my sat nav lighter fitting thing doesn't even fit in it???

The Oyster is good, that's what I have. You will just need to find out how to switch it on and it should self seek for a signal.

Yes I was told that but in the cupboard there's a couple of boxes with a couple of loose wires so when I play with them nothing happens ? I have to show someone really big tree I think it's half way there and I will be well pleased if I can get it sorted!!

I hope the above message is for Sue as I'm a one drake duck Ian, and I already have my Drake !!! I do like to cook though and am always looking for victims volunteers to eat the latest experiment. I am also the woman who brings a sewing machine on holiday with her :)

Hi pat, less. .I am only going to be here for about a week, gave address to the English connection last night and now just waiting for helga v5,and a couple of other bits in the post! I don't know if you've stayed here before but I think you will like it,,it is a beautifull place, right on the beach, near town, and there looks and sounds to be loads of baits! It's a shame though because I have only met 6 people from here, and 2 were in UK! Lol have a safe journey wherever you are and end up,,I'm sure we will all catch up one day? Maybe in UK at a rally this year? ( IF I EVER GET BACK) LOL XXX
Hi Ian, yes we have friends live in denia and haven't stayed on the site but they showed us round it couple of years ago, saw our first (long) line of the famous processionnaires caterpillars - fascinating!!

But if it when put on when the van was new the satellites have changed and they need upgrading , our Oyster put on in 2000 is now obsolete , not even an upgrade available.

Hahaha. SCOTLAND. How bloody cold are you at the moment?? Lol
