Ian and helga go south !!

Yes I def will be at javia for a few days before I descend into the madness !! Besides I need to go to Iceland to get my Yorkshire tbags ...... Is there a nice site in javia or Aires or on the beach?
Hi Ian,

There are two campsites in Javea, Camping Javea which is within walking distance of Iceland - plus point for you there, or Camping El Naranjal which is closer to the beach, think I would prefer the first one.

If you carry n along the dual carriageway after Iceland you will drive through a lot of shops either side of the road, large island with blue gravel,on it and La Caixa Bank, take the third exit which will take you near Scallops, opposite there a lot of motorhomes wild park but there is a rumour that it is going to be fenced off for new builds.

Enjoy!

Mike

you can buy the upgrades box from oyster for your system, think it is about£400 but cheaper than a new one.
maybe that is what is wrong with yours ian, do you have a controlbox with a pic of europe on it, or does it have 4 buttons and a screen
It might have been some sort of upgrade box the previous owner took Ian? There are a couple of cables going nowhere coming out of existing??

Porkster me old China!! Yes you did and I will ! Did you give me coordinates? I don't remember? Lol

Coordinates for possible wild camping near Scallops:

GPS Co-ordinates N38’ 46.179 E000’ 11.470

Another thought, if you follow the signs for the Parador drive towards the port (leaving Parador on your right) there is a gravel type foreshore and I have seen a lot of motorhomes parked there.

Mike

Last November we were told the wild camping at Scallops was finished.

Thanks, yes we have looked into it with more than a couple of Oyster fitters/suppliers we have had two resets but they have now all confirmed the model we have is now obsolete so we have bought a new Avtex TV and aerial and are pleased with it. You would think when you pay over £1000. for a system it would be ok, but eventually it has a sell by date. Thanks anyway. (y)

Carol, what's the Avtec tv and set up cost please, and is it any good abroad? Ian.

Hi Ian, the Avtec TV would not work abroad without one of those Large Satalite Dishes you will see dotted over all the Camp sites in Spain or the direct lead some of the sites have, it works just the same as any TV. In the UK it has it's own aerial linked to the TV it picks up many channels and is really easy to use.

Maybe some of the men on here can explain it better than me. (y)

Carol do you still have your old Oyster kit by any chance? I have a project in mind and I'm looking for an early Oyster.

Hi yes we do it's still on the van, Eddie says you can have it but you would need to take it off, pm me if you want. (y)

Google Maps dated June 2015 shows the Scallops site completely empty.

Thank you lads. I'm going to go to the reccommended site camping naranjal. I'm sure a bike ride or a walk to Iceland won't kill me!! Lol. A couple of days in javea and then to the big city of Benidorm!! I joined that snowbird site but I can't work out how to message any of them to see if pitches are available !! Still I'm sure there's plenty of sites in the book Pamela and nige gave me!! Hope you've all had a good day today, I spent most of it doing some cleaning and maintenance on helga! Silicone spray on runners, wd 40 on all external cupboard locks etc cleaned her back end up, all windows, wheels etc. It was nice to do something, she looks better now and I'm sure she feels it! Puncture repair is all good so I hope no dramas for a while!! I nearly bought a used awning for her today from site but unfortunately it was too big for helga, I have about 2.500 Mts in height and the awning on offer is for between 2.7 and 2.9. So never mind I'm sure there will be others! I was told about a big camping and caravan dealers be hear today and apparently they have all gas fittings I will need for lpg tank, so I will go there on the morning I pull out, which may be Wednesday if my mail arrives in time!! So nothing much to report but feeling very relaxed,, this Motorhome life you lead is awesome!! What a way to spend winters!! And I need a few quiet days because I think Benidorm might not be so quiet!!! Chat soon. Ian. Xx
