I have a solution for good Mobile Data (300G) whilst in Spain (then any zone 1 country)

Carpmart many thanks fir this thread. Ordered a sim last week and it arrived in time for our trip! I’m not activating it till we’re off the ferry though!

Forgive my ignorance but how can I check how much of my data I’ve used? Many thanks

If you are with Tiekom just email Camino and she will tell you😊

Did you install the Huawei app on your phone? If so when you sign in the screen should show you a large circle with your data useage inside it, if you tap inside the circle you can set the date your data refreshes and also set data limit warnings.

Many thanks, we’ll give that go.

It's called Huawei Hi link.
Just opened it and it still thinks we’re using the Smarty SIM. I’m fiddling blindly to see if I can change it to the Tiekom SIM.

Have a look at settings then network, check you have the correct APN and network carrier.

APN is Vodafone, which is correct
Network Carrier, as per photo below. Not sure what to do with this one?

Received my sims today, not going until 28th September so not sure when to activate. Thanks Carpmart

Probably best to wait until 1st October. I think they only work on calendar month. You should email Camino to confirm

AFAIK, this is incorrect. They will bill you pro rata for the active days in each month. Email Camino for confirmation :)

Well I had 2 x Sim delivered to my UK address. Got in contact to have one activated, all went very smoothly, Now sat in Spain with sim in my router. Works great, just as advertised. No surprises in my first bill.

Same here, activated my sim on arrival in France on 25/08 and faultless since then arriving in Spain on 28/08. Now sat in Toledo and all well, very reassuring to have what seems, at this stage, to be a reliable service and not needing to rely on campsite Wi-Fi etc. Additionally, cannot speak too highly of the service and support of Camino to make this happen, oops also forgot to thank Carpmart for getting us all onto this, cheers and thanks

UPDATE ON FREE.FR

I have previously mentioned using Free.fr Sims at €19.99 + €10 for the SIM. I went to renew my SIM yesterday BUT it seems as though it's a one off/one time contract, so I had to pay another €29.99 in total for another month, €10 more than I thought. Admittedly is works out a lot cheaper than using a UK data SIM (mainly for internet TV and phone data) and you get 210gb to use, so it's still a decent deal but having to find a Free store might be an issue.

If the Spanish SIM is still being offered then it might be a better option?

I will make a separate post as not everyone who goes to France will look at a post detailing a SIM for Spain.

Have used this sim for a number of weeks in April and May this year with iplayer no probs.

In France this week and using same Norton vpn etc but won’t allow iplayer.

Anybody else had similar or has vpn just stopped working?

you will need to connect to another server on your VPN.

I’ve tried multiple servers over many hours with no joy I’m afraid. Wonder if due to current affairs there are a large number of people from outside uk trying to connect to servers and they are being overwhelmed? Getting a bit frustrating cos it was perfect last time. I had to change servers last time as well, usually after moving location but it worked no probs.

Reading all the above information is turning my little brain into a mush. I think I will continue cycling, sightseeing, reading books and enjoying the sun and fresh air. It will be easier.
+1 !

So I would have to drive to spain to activate the SIM ( or have a pal post one to me )

Whats best solution for irregular internet access in UK ? ( Scotland for 2 months in spring, 2 in autumn )

Currently using GaffGaff 'Goodybags'. Obviously when at home I have landline access, so turn mobile data off.

Hey folks. We've recently taken out the Tiekom 300gb sim thanks to this forum. We provided our Starling Euro account details. Tiekom invoiced our bank, which was rejected as Starling Euro does not allow invoicing. Do you pay with SEPA debit or using the portal under 'my bills' on the account page? The card payment portal won't load for us. TIA.

Without trawling back through the post, I’d be interested in how others have paid.

Had a good old nose through the thread and saw 'Starling Euro' mentioned, but would love to know how folks are handling a recurring monthly payment.

We were told DD when we enquired, but they've tried to invoice us. Starling rejected this and they've added a fee on top of our first payment for the returned invoice. Also the card payment portal won't load on Chrome or Edge so we'd love to know more!
