Germany/Austria August/September information sharing.

I forgot to mention about the bikes we bought.

They took 60 euros off each bike.
It might be because we are members of mhf or it could be that they didnt have to post them.

So if you see one on their website and are picking it up in stall take 60 euros off the advertised price.

If you want a specific one in a specific store give them at least 3 days notice

And remember to bring a 3 pin to 2 pin adaptor or 2

Thanks. We will call in there next week.

I see an American in Garmisch-Partenkirchen failed to isolate on return from Greece despite showing symptoms and went on a bar crawl ... 22 Americans infected and locals being asked to get tested.

For those that may be looking for vets on the return leg, KeithChesterfield has created this map that we find useful.

We left the Mosel yesterday to visit Decathlon in Koblenz in search of a dog trailer, without success as it’s a small branch with limited stock.
From there we made a mistake by driving down the eastern side of the Rhine where Multiple roadworks and a lack of stelplatz/sites made for a longer drive than we wanted in this heat, annoying the western side had lots of places to stop although they looked very full.
Both campsites in Rudesheim were full but a pleading request for a one night stop was thankfully answered. Today we are driving east to the hopefully less popular but very picturesque river Main.

Was a good boy last night so we are now in Treviris (Trier). Just had to come here to a town with almost the same name as myself. 😎

Not long pulled onto the stelplatz at Heidelberg. Maggie use to live here many years ago so off for a bit of sightseeing. €15pn inclusive ehu do us for a night 👍

We were there last night. Very proud of ourselves for being able to pay for exit ticket first attempt😇
Smugness soon disappeared though when we encountered the dreaded Umleitung on exiting the site😬.
Now at Wohnmobilplatz Bingen, trying to find shelter from the sun, and waiting till it cools down a bit before getting bikes out. 🌞.

Not long pulled onto the stelplatz at the Morello factory.. Mena was never here many years ago so off for a tour round the factory.. €0.00 pn inclusive ehu do us for a night 👍 Wurzburg tomorrow.

Yes Martin but booked in advance through their website. We were allowed to visit showroom and explore models after signing in at main gate. The Empire model is a monster ! Too much motorhome for me without a doubt! The new stellplatz is handsome.

We have settled into a Stellplatz on the Main river with shade, Phew !! Probably stop here until the high temperatures subside. We are headed along the river to Würzburg in a few days where we shall explore the recommended villages of Ochsenfurt/Kitzingen/volkach. Have fun.

We have arrived our first stop ever in Germany we are having one night here at campingpark Zum Jone Bur then We may try the stellplatz just down the road in Monschau or try and get onto the other campsite there before we move on in the direction of the Mosel rolling meet. It’s hot 🔥🔥

Staying at Hochspeyer tonight - €5 plus metered electric. Close to town so we are going for a bimble later . Went for a spin on the bike and Kaiserslautern is about a 20 mins pedal away. Quiet site and the paymaster comes around and carries loads of change.

We moved 120km north to Bremerhaven thinking it might be a little cooler. It was only 29 here 🥵.

Parked with all the German FLT on the quayside opposite the camping park that looks rammed.

Got here mid afternoon and already 15-20 here in.a.spot advertised as 7😳. 3 more pulled in 5 minutes after us. All German as far as I can see.

Ah OK just the showroom, that’s the new Grande Empire possibly we might get to see it in a couple of weeks or three.

Will be on the stellplatz a few night possibly.

Just what the doctor ordered, a nice quiet Stellplatz with shade. I think if I were a grape picker I would prefer to work in the Main valley, not only do they plant the grapevines horizontally (In the Mosel they are grown vertically) but they have sheds to rest and take refreshments in.(y)

Well if Europe does decide to unify and all go for the quarantine for any country with 50 cases per 100000 then it’s not looking good for UK travellers.

You can walk down through the wood to Monschau a steep climb back though there is a bus service
You are also close to the long distance cycle path if that's your thing

How do you book a tour, can’t see how on the website, fancy calling in on our way home to see what I’m missing
Edit
Can I just do the showroom not the factory tour?

Campsite is good and quiet, good cycle track as stated, and walking in nearby woods, the Stellplatz was full of cars, also on a main road hence we did the campsite👍

Thanks again suavecarve for starting this thread. We'll try and keep it going and remember you. Sounds like you and all the rest of us have had a great time, and weather, in Germany. The more you explore and go off track a bit away from the most popular spots, the more little gems you come across.

Having said that we are now at Titisee and as usual, it's rammed. Got there at 12:30 and got (allegedly) the last spot.with a great view over the lake... but I bet he says that to all the campers!

Driving through the town it did look a bit too busy for comfort though but a bike ride later on and it was much quieter. It's easy to see why it's so popular though and there does look to be some good cycling routes in the area. Hopefully the weather hold up for us all.

Yes! Just turn up and login at gate. Receptionist said tour was available via website booking but showroom was a simple walk in.

Well bugger me sideways, every Morello has heard Mena and I are here or they all need repairs or maintenance. I thought the Empire model was a big version but now think the Palace is even bigger. Bit of a twats club if you ask me.

We filled up there yesterday afternoon at that price. Two hours later it was up to 99.9. Went past this morning and it was 101.9!

We were told by a German chap that they will change it at different time of the day to reflect demand.
